Our guide on where to stay in Tianjin

Find the best Tianjin areas for the activities you enjoy most.

Tianjin City Center

Tianjin City Centre blends colonial heritage with vibrant Chinese traditions. The iconic Drum Tower and Ancient Culture Street showcase traditional crafts and folk performances. European-style buildings in the Five Great Avenues district reflect the city's international past. Clay figurine markets and traditional snack vendors add local flavour. Metro lines provide easy access to cultural landmarks like the Porcelain House and Former Residence of Zhang Xueliang. Morning tai chi sessions in riverside parks offer glimpses of authentic daily life. Rooftop restaurants along the Hai River provide perfect settings for enjoying illuminated architecture views after sunset.

Heping

Heping District offers a captivating blend of European colonial architecture and Chinese cultural heritage in the heart of Tianjin. The Five Great Avenues showcase over 2,000 stunning mansions in British, French, German, Italian, and Spanish styles. Historic landmarks like the Former Residence of Zhang Xueliang and Porcelain House tell stories of the city's rich past. Visitors can explore this walkable area using the convenient metro system with stops at Yingkoudao and Hepinglu stations. The area balances upscale shopping along Binjiang Avenue with peaceful moments in Zhongxin Park. Both history enthusiasts and architecture lovers will find themselves enchanted by Heping's unique east-meets-west atmosphere.

Binhai

Binhai combines Tianjin's economic power with striking cultural landmarks. The futuristic Binhai Library with its eye-shaped atrium stands among gleaming corporate towers and contemporary architecture. Coastal areas offer artificial beaches and port views along the Bohai Sea. Metro Line 9 connects you to central Tianjin every 20 minutes. Explore the Binhai Cultural Centre, Haihe Bund Park, or catch a match at TEDA Football Stadium. The area balances business with pleasure through upscale dining, modern shopping centres, and waterfront promenades.

Wu Da Dao

Well liked for its bars and monuments, Wu Da Dao is worth a visit. Check out the variety of things to see and do like Binjiang Avenue Shopping Street and Former Residence of Gu Weijun, and jump on the metro at Xiaobailou Station to get around the city.

Italian Concession

Museums and historical sites are just a few things travellers like about Italian Concession. A stop by Former Residence of Liang Qichao is also recommended if you've got time to explore the area.

"This is one of my best stays across the world, and the best in China. Just superb and at a great price. Large modern room, awesome view, a pool, polite staff, everything very nearby (although, yes, you need to walk a good ten minutes to line one’s Er Wei Road metro station), and yet you are in a non touristy residential-feeling area (actually a huge hospital precinct). Do yourself a favour if in Tianjin and stay here."
