Hestercombe House was used as the headquarters of the British 8th Corps in the Second World War, and has been owned by Somerset County Council since 1951. It was used as the headquarters of Somerset Fire Brigade until 2007, and housed the Emergency Call Room for the Somerset Area of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service until April 2012. It is used as an administrative centre for Somerset County Council.

Clean room. The pool can be booked for swimming or family sessions, unusual setup but works well. Staff friendly and helpful. Stayed here several times but only this time did I realise the motorway was so close, as it was light when I was leaving. The soundproofing is very good in the hotel.

Checkin info was a breeze.Chris was an excellent host. He was there for any questions and was very accommodating. Granma's Cottage is charming. We loved the bath tub and the cosy kitchen. Great links from the train station at Tiverton Parkway. Thank you.
