Visitors to Barbados who fancy a bit of active fun in the sun consistently flock to Dover Beach on the island's south-west coast. 2. Crane Beach

4. Mullins Beach

With its clear blue waters and reliably gentle currents, Mullins Beach is one of the most northerly beaches on Barbados. Given its distance from the capital, the beach is also one of the island's quietest, offering plentiful opportunities for leisurely strolls and soaking up the sunshine.

5. Welchman Hall Gully

Beneath the surface of Barbados lie numerous underground caves. When one of these caves collapsed many years ago, the owner of the surrounding land filled the resulting gully with fruit trees and exotic shrubbery. The man in question was General William Asygell Williams of the Welsh Fusiliers, and the area became known as Welchman Hall Gully.
