"What is unique about this hotel? It is not a party hotel. It is maybe one of the most beautiful and relaxing hotels I have ever stayed at. I am 70 and travel a lot and spend time in beautiful hotels in beautiful areas.
The Fenua Mata'i'oa hotel tops my list.
We stayed in the Garden Romantic Suite. A large place. There was a nice outside shaded place to have breakfast with kitchen exposed to the ambient environment, complete with a cat if you allowed it.
The bedroom was large and very comfortable and air conditioned. I slept 8-9 hrs a night.
The bathroom and tub were in a Shangr-La environment. We had our own beach area with several outdoor outdoor areas to sit and enjoy nature.
Our room and every inch of the entire communal area have been immaculately and pain-stakenly decorated over 25 years. Everywhere you look you can't help but to be transfixed with the thoughtful cohesive beauty bestowed by the owner-designer.
You may think I am getting carried away and over romanticizing the property but my girl friend felt exactly the same way.
I was so nice to have a private dock where you can be picked up for an excursion or just to snorkel on your own or just have a drink and watch the spectacular sunsets.
If you want a romantic place for inspiration, I can't think of a better place.
Also, everything worked in our room and we only wished we had stayed a week instead of a few days."
