Robinâs Nest is an entire cabin located within Alpine Lake Resort in Terra Alta, West Virginia. Designed for couples, families, or small groups, the cabin comfortably accommodates up to six guests and offers a relaxed home base for winter escapes, shoulder-season getaways, and everything in between.
Sleeping arrangements
The cabin features two bedrooms plus a loft sleeping area. The loft includes a queen bed and a full bathroom, creating a quiet space set slightly apart. On the main level, one bedroom offers a queen bed and a twin bed, while the second bedroom includes a twin bed. A second full bathroom is also available on the main level.
Indoor living
Inside, the cabin feels functional, with heating throughout and portable air conditioning available when needed. The living area includes a TV and WiFi, suitable for streaming movies or handling video calls. A dedicated workspace in a room with a door makes it easy to focus if youâre mixing work with your stay.
Kitchen and dining
The kitchen provides space to cook your own meals and settle in after a day outdoors. Whether youâre preparing breakfast before a walk to the lake or dinner after exploring the area, the kitchen setup supports comfortable, extended stays. Bathroom essentials and bed linens are provided, along with extra pillows and blankets for cooler nights.
Outdoor living
Step outside to a private patio and backyard surrounded by wooded land. While winter may keep outdoor time brief, the deck, & BBQ grill offer options for crisp-air evenings when weather allows. The backyard is open and not fully fenced, and there is a private entrance and free parking on the premises.
Resort amenities and location
The cabin is part of Alpine Lake Resort, where guests have access to shared amenities including an indoor pool open year-round, a fitness center, and courts for tennis, basketball, and pickleball. A path leads to lake access, and the private beach area is available when conditions permit. Hiking trails weave through the community, and cross-country skiing is available in winter. An 18-hole golf course is also located within the resort, with tee times available separately.
Nearby adventures
Deep Creek Lake and Wisp Ski Resort are about 40 minutes away, making day trips for skiing or winter sightseeing easy to plan. The surrounding region offers a mix of quiet forest roads and seasonal activities that shift naturally with the weather.
Good to know
The cabin is pet-friendly, though cats are not allowed. WiFi is provided, but due to the remote setting, service may be slower or spotty at times. Decks and walkways are cleaned before arrival, though seasonal debris may still be present given the natural environment.
This peaceful cabin offers a grounded, comfortable place to experience Alpine Lake, with space to relax indoors and access to year-round resort amenities just beyond the door.
Note
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similarâespecially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!
We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).
Wi-Fi is provided, but due to the remote setting, service can sometimes be slower or spotty. We suggest downloading any essential content in advance.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is pretty no frills, but had pretty much everything we needed to have a wonderful trip (2 adults, 2 kids under 6, dog). The amenities at the resort we took advantage of (beach/lake, indoor pool, hiking trails) were also lots of fun and convenient.
This cabin was the perfect escape! It struck the ideal balance between comfort and nature- exactly what you'd want fora relaxing stay at Alpine Lake. The home was incredibly well-stocked with everything from towels and dishes to cleaning supplies, spices, and extra linens. It made settling in so easy. The fire pit was a favorite of mine-perfect for unwinding under the stars, which you can actually see clearly at night! The setting is quiet and serene, offering true peace and privacy. If you're planning a trip, I highly recommend bringing groceries and taking advantage of the kitchen. There aren't many great dining options nearby, but the cabin has everything you need to cook and enjoy meals comfortably. I only wish had visited a little later in the season to see the trees and flowers in full bloom-but even without that, the stay was amazing. If you're looking for a peaceful mountain getaway with all the essentials and thoughtful touches, this is the place for you. I will absolutely be back!
Extremely welcoming host, and we even worked out staying an additional night because we were having such a great time. Iâve stayed at Alpine Lake at several different properties, and this was the first one that provided keys to be able to use the indoor pool. It was the perfect space for our family of 3 and 2 dogs.
It was a perfect little cabin for a weekend getaway. The location was great and it was a quiet little area. Tony was great and communicated well about everything.
The property was clean and perfect for our needs. The resort community is beautiful and the local hiking trails were incredible. The owner communicated throughout the visit and responded quickly to any questions. I would highly recommend.
Property owner was awesome and very responsive. Check in was easy. Amenities because it was off season were not available. Cabin was well equipped. Beds were very comfortable. Clean - however missing toilet paper - and getting anywhere off site takes more than a minute! Outside the house needs work.other than fire pit no place to sit outdoors . It was great and the price was right.
We stayed during February 2021 with our 3 children and dog. Even though it didn't snow during our stay there was a lot on the ground and the kids and pup had fun playing in the yard. We made side trips to WISP and Blackwater Falls for more snowy fun. The kids were able to attend virtual school in the mornings with no issues. It checked all the boxes for us!
The rental was not very clean. We were told that there would be two pool passes on the fridge which there was not and we had to drive to the Lodge Office to obtain them.
Pictures and reviews are accurate.
Coffee maker is 12 cup and filters were provided. Fire pit was great as were the Adirondack chairs (4). Extra chairs on both porches. Oversized vehicles may want to back into driveway. Grill worked fine. Bedrooms were spacious. Quiet location. Check on available amenities and times/rentals with the lodge in advance. Communication with owner was excellent and clear. Happy with our experience. đ

Good Getaway
Overall itâs a good vacation place. My opinion, they need a better cleaning service. On the other hand, we as guests, meaning everyone that stays here during the year, need to follow the rules!
Grill not cleaned after use.
Bags only in the outside trash. Watched trash get picked up in the morning, the kid just pulls out the bags. No automatic dump trucks! Poor kid.. the bottom of the cans were nasty with garbage. I cleaned them.
Some dishes from previous guests were not cleaned.
Not much of a selection for boat rentals.
The fishing was great! Less than 30 seconds for a bite every cast! Live bait for perch. Grandson caught one big salmon on lure!
Go to Oakland Maryland for everything! The Mexican restaurant recommended is good!
The biggest takeaway I have from my visit is the guests that stay, make it difficult for the next visitor. Follow the rules and leave the house as if your mother in law is going to visit next!
The property was as advertised. Nice quiet lake with no motors, good fishing. We brought kayaks but amenities on resort quite limited: decent pool, large but dated gym, limited restaurant, bar was closed, game room closed.
We stayed at Robin's Nest just one night and loved it! First, the place is SO clean and neat as a pin. We loved the decor - tasteful yet simple and quaint. The bed in the master was very comfortable. Love that there is a bathroom on each floor and so happy to see a place with so many hooks for hanging jackets, clothes, bags, towels, etc. This place sleeps more people than you might think and those are the practical touches that can make a big difference. We just love Alpine Lake resort - beautiful and quiet - a place to get away and rejuvenate. Thank you for a great stay.
I wanted a nice & peaceful but still eventful getaway for my Husbandâs 41st Birthday! And Thanks to Tonyâs amazing home, hospitality and his staff thatâs exactly what we got! The house was very cozy but somehow still spacious, welcoming and CLEAN!! We were able to, stream our shows on TV (which is a MUST) grill on the back deck, make sâmores at the fire pit and our dogs absolutely LOVED the spacious backyard. And though we loved the privacy we also loved how close we were to town, so it
was convenient to go and hang out! So between swimming at the indoor pool, hanging out at the lake, and going into town- myself, my Husband, our friends, and our dogs had a blast. And we canât wait to return!!

This was a cute cabin and has access to nice amenities, but it was overpriced. It is falsely advertised as having 2 queens and 2 doubles, but it actually has 2 queens and 2 twins. The rooms are not separated/insulated well, so it's essentially a 1-room cabin (where you can hear everything that's happening elsewhere in the cabin). And the AC unit downstairs runs constantly, so it's hard to hear the TV or hear to talk to others in the livingroom. It's still a nice/cute cabin, but good to know what to expect before a trip.
A much needed getaway with all that has happened in the past year. Property is as described with all the comforts of home in a gated, private community. Tony, was in contact with us daily to see if there was anything that we may have needed and to make sure that we were enjoyin our stay. The weather was beautiful and we most likely will be back again!

This place is awesome. A drive to the private beach but not far. Tony is awesome!! The cleaning staff amazing the house was sooo clean!!! I recommend it!
We used this cabin to accommodate people from our group attending a business meeting. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and it received a great review from our attendees.
We were able to check in early which was great.
Comfortable beds, nice sauce TV , cute lake decor, peaceful property, nice Firepit. Deck in back and front in good shape. Washer and dryer came in handy for our short stay. Played games and had a few beverages. Good times with the girls.

Nice place, listing was inaccurate
The property was listed as having A/C however when we arrived our first night (it was over 80 degrees and very humid from the rain) there was no A/C installed. The owner told me he hadn't got around to the install yet despite it listed as an amenity. Might want to check before any spring or fall stays that they have everything ready.
Two day getaway with a couple friends. Cabin has everything needed in the way of creature comforts and is situated on a wooded lot with a fire pit. Short ride to Swallow Falls and Oakland, MD which has whatever you need if you forgot to bring something.
This cabin was the perfect size for 4 adults and a toddler. The place was clean and very cozy. There was an abundance of firewood as stated. I would recommend this cabin in a heartbeat. Tony was amazing to deal with. Answered texts immediately and had already provided us with some trails and hidden gems before we arrived. We are hoping to rent from him again in the future. Thank you so much for a much needed worry free weekend!
As a family of 6 I think I underestimated the size of the house and actual bedrooms. We made it work and it was a nice stay and gave us the chance to check out the area for when we build our own lake house at Alpine lake. Communication between the owner was fantastic!!! I just don't think it was a the right fit for my family to 100% enjoy the home for it being a "3 bedroom" home.
