This place was absolutely gorgeous! The views were breathtaking and the outdoor shower was unique and refreshing after long hikes in BBNP. The road up to the spot was fun in our Jeep and it was a perfect spot to see the wildlife.
Wonderful home with nobody around. Road to the house is fun. Need a high clearance vehicle. They let you know in the description and we can validate. Beds are comfortable and ac is cool. Two toilets one outside one inside. Two showers one outside one inside. There was not an oven. Not a big deal we made it work.
10/10 would recommend, just bring your all-terrain vehicle. Spectacular views. A once-in-a-lifetime experience, which explains why we’ve stayed there twice.
Great place with a fantastic view! Highly recommended. I would definitely stay here again. The host is very attentive and helpful. A high-clearance vehicle is definitely recommended. The place has all the appliances and kitchenware you need to have a complete experience, as if you never left home.
Wow - what a stay. What a great space to share with our adult children to enjoy the surrounding beauty of Big Bend National Park. Everyone had comfortable space to retreat to after a long day of hiking and night of enjoying the dark sky! The kitchen is well stocked and we didn't find ourselves wanting for anything. Make sure to bring some firewood and some groceries.....you're set. Thanks for a memorable stay.
What an amazing property! Looking out at the ghost town from the top of the plateau is truly incredible, especially at sunrise and sunset. The host did not cheap out on anything from furnishings to decorations to accommodations like fire pit, outdoor shower and beautiful deck. I would highly recommend this property to anyone staying in the area for a trip to the National Park or nearby state park. The bedding was very comfortable, shower pressure was great, hot water fantastic, cooling chilly and overall a very positive experience. This is absolutely one of the more unique places I have stayed in West Texas and will be happy to come back for future trips.
This house was awesome! We had a fantastic stay and the pictures don't even come close to describing the amazing view! The house is well equipped with cooking supplies and propane grill. We enjoyed the comfy king beds and hanging out on the deck for sunrises and sunsets. We definitely recommend this house if you are looking for a cool off grid experience in Terlingua.
Note: The road up is a rough dirt road going up the mountain and we had no problems in our Yukon, but it might be tough to manage for a small city car. Also, there is one king bed in the loft with a steep metal ladder so it may be better suited for older kids or adults who don't get up in the night.
We rented in August. The solar system failed. We were without power. Some of our food spoiled. We couldn’t sleep. If your system can’t handle August heat perhaps you shouldn’t rent in the summerThe house is beautiful with amazing views
This place......
What can I say?!?! Mind Blown! Yes, it's off grid and you have to think about conservation, but the beds are comfy, there is wifi, the record collection is off the hook and the views are unbelievable. If you are on the fence, let me push you over the edge..... The Stars! Mind boggling how many stars there are. One thing worth mentioning is the drive up - it really needs four wheel drive. Such a fun adventure!!!!
The location is perfect - stunning views of the park, beautiful sunsets, and the covered porch makes it comfortable throughout the day. No issues with water or power with the off grid utilities, worked out great! Worth every penny and we will be back.
The Perch is one of the best VRBO rentals that we have stayed in . The thought and details put into this place is above and beyond. The house was very clean, beds we’re comfortable and was well stocked . Can’t recommend this place enough ! We will be back !
We stay at a lot of very nice VRBO properties and I can guarantee that we will remember this property forever. The property is exactly as advertised. The 7 minute drive up the dirt road to the house takes you completly away from civilization.
You can tell how much thought went into the placement of the house by the over 180 degree views, the shielding from the intense sun and the way the breeze cools the deck. If you like some adventure, a very well thought out home and access to Big Bend you will enjoy this home.
In addition to enjoying the Perch, we were also treated to morning sightings of a herd of Big Horn Sheep that roam near the property. Fantastic place to stay!
