This house is a little over a mile in off of the highway. The road is a maintained dirt road. Cars are fine to make the drive. If it is a heavy rain, then the road may get muddy. For this reason we recommend high clearance and capable vehicles for rainy season. The house is minutes from town center and 4 miles from the Big Bend National Park entrance.
We are open to hosting small events and celebrations with prior approval. Send us a message to inquire about our group booking options! Our neighborhood is very safe.
We have two camera devices on property. They point to the driveway and entrance area only. They are for property security only. There are no monitoring devices inside the house nor in any of the private areas of the house. The cameras are in plain view. Guest count and pet count must be accurate at booking. Everyone on the property must be listed on the reservation. Message us if you need to update the number of guests. The nightly rate goes up with pets and larger guest counts. No extra guests without prior approval.
Check-in is 4:00 p.m. Check-out is 10:00 a.m. Central. Early check-in can be purchased with prior approval. It is not guaranteed unless extra staff is available, and fees apply. Late check-out may be billed as an additional night. We are in Central Time. Cell phones may connect to towers in Mexico and set your clock back one hour. Confirm your phone is on Central Time so you are not late and do not incur late fees.
We have two twin rollaway beds available by request. If you booked a reservation for 7 or 8 guests they are included in the rate. We will leave them in the primary bedroom closet for you with extra linens. If you booked with 6 or fewer guests the rollaways are available for $50 each. Request them with us and pay in advance.
Guest counts past 8 require *prior approval* and an extra-guest fee (water, trash, laundry, wear and tear, and housekeeping). You must bring all extra bedding for anyone past 8. Bringing a self-sufficient RV? Send us the details for a custom quote. Water
This home is off the grid, every drop counts. Limit showers to under 5 minutes if possible. Don’t run water while brushing teeth. Only run the dishwasher when full. We recommend bringing drinking water. You can also use the Berkey filter (silver bullet) or boil the tap water. Bring paper plates and cups if you want to cut down on dishwashing.
House is on septic, flush toilet paper only. “If it’s yellow, let it mellow.”
Stay near the house. No hiking or climbing on the bluffs. Do not collect rocks, plants, or firewood. Stay at least 15 feet from cliffs, arroyos, and drop-offs. Be alert for uneven terrain, cacti, snakes, and other wildlife. Keep children in sight outdoors.
Do not feed or approach wildlife. Do not leave food, trash, grills, or coolers outside overnight. Use a flashlight after dark. Do not reach under rocks. Do not kill or move a snake, stay back and text us.
There is no hospital in Terlingua.
The driveway is compact dirt and gravel. Most vehicles do fine. After a heavy rain (rare), there may be a little mud at the highway turnoff. It usually clears within a few hours of sun.
Respect neighbors’ privacy. Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Follow the dark-sky ordinance, use minimal lighting at night.

This house was so gorgeous!! It had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The views were so beautiful. There’s no tv but we didn’t mind. We loved every minute of our stay here and the hostess was available to us. We’d definitely stay here again.
Truly unique property in secluded setting with stupendous views. Convenient to all Big Bend attractions.Well outfitted kitchen. Serene outdoor fire pit space.
We have stayed here twice and always have a wonderful time. House is beautiful, has everything you need, and super clean. I wish there were window coverings in the bedrooms so that you could sleep past sunrise but sunrise is beautiful!
My husband, two elementary aged kids and my retired parents stayed in this house for our big bend trip. It was a wonderful pick! The surrounding area around the house is beautiful, the house is very nice, comfy and has everything you’d need. Terilingua is a great place to stay if visiting the park, lots of places to eat and a grocery store super close. I would definitely recommend anyone visiting Big Bend to stay here!
We have visited the area many times but chose this house due to the location. We wanted complete darkness for our very large telescope. It was perfect! Quiet, dark at night, clean, comfy beds, and everything you could need. We cooked several meals and used the firepit. We are already planning to come back in the winter!
This property is amazing with amazing views!!!! First time to Terlingua.
From my wife’s review
Our stay at the VRBO was delightful. I had my reservations about being out a little ways not close to any other homes or people. But let me just say It worked out. The host was most helpful and very responsive. Follow what the host said about screenshoting the directions, before you loose cell service. At the location though we had service and wifi! Our navigation alone didn’t get us there so that was great advice. We were staying for my husbands fathers birthday, he wanted to see Big Bend. So we hosted the family for meals, campfire stories, smores and stargazing. Which is the most beautiful I’ve experienced. You can truly see every star in the sky. The house was very clean and tidy as well as comfortable. I also like if you leave anything in the fridge they put It to good use and don’t just throw It away. Would definitely recommend and stay there again.
Our stay at Panorama Lodge was above and beyond what we could have ever hoped for. We stayed for three nights and for a family with kids ranging from 5-13, I feel that the length of stay was perfect. We loved everything about the property, the cleanliness, the attention to details, the views, the location, being able to unplug from the world but still having WiFi if needed, the communication with the owner, and my list can go on and on. I do recommend you stop at a grocery store or Walmart on the way in for any food items, there is a small general store which is nice for last minute things, but the prices are a bit high and the variety is scarce. We stopped at the Walmart in Fort Stockton on the way in and got everything we needed. We visited the Terlingua Ghost Town and ate at Taqueria El Milagro and Espresso y Poco Más and highly recommend both locations. We also visited the Terlingua Trading Company for souvenirs and had fun exploring all the trinkets and learning about the history of the building. We went to Big Bend National Park and hiked two easy trail since we had kids. We explored Tuff Canyon and Lower Burro Mesa trails. Overall I give Panorama Lodge 5 stars, and ever since we left my husband and I have been talking about our stay there and trying to figure out when we will be back.
House was clean and temperature inside was comfortable as soon as soon as we arrived. Sunsets and stars were amazing. Responsive host. Would love to go back again.
3 couples enjoyed the space indoor and out. Appreciated the well stocked kitchens with basic supplies on hand. And ice trays. True feeling of into the world with no others around you. Advise arriving in daylight. We visited most restaurants in the area. They were all great.
We had a wonderful stay here in Terlingua. We came for the stargazing and were not disappointed! The skies are very dark, Bortle-1. The nighttime pic on our review is of the Summer Milky Way, taken on only a phone looking south from the tall side of the house. The house is surrounded by a flat gravel yard so we had a safe place to set up our telescope. Even though we brought a telescope we had the most enjoyment from sitting in lounge chairs using regular binoculars to gaze at Sagittarius, Scorpius, sparkly star clusters and the Milky Way. The house is beautiful, sleek and modern with fantastic views, and the area is very quiet with perfect privacy. There are small bushy flowering plants around the patio that brought in many tiny butterflies, and the house is surrounded by an Ocotillo forest that must look stunning when in bloom. We’ll definitely be back!
I’d like to start with how breathtaking this property is and it was perfect for my bachelorette trip labor-day weekend. My reason for 3-stars is that a very important piece of information is left out of the listing; running water relies on an electric pump with no backup generator. Well the power goes out pretty easily, I’d say, when it storms in this area (which is mentioned on sign in the house when you arrive but not on the listing when booking). We had a storm roll through around 9pm Saturday night knocking the power out for several hours, about 12 hrs give or take. We had hiked big bend all day in the heat and some of us weren’t able to shower afterwards. Going to bed dirty with no AC all night was quite uncomfortable in late August. Additionally, we had to go into town to grab coffee and use the restroom in the morning. Luckily our group made the best of it. I’m mentioning this as a heads up for those who may have kids or other people who require running water. Make sure you’re prepared!! Other than that, we had an absolute blast and I will be recommending this property in the future and just adding that necessary tidbit of info.
