Little Cabin in the Woods - Quiet

Need a secluded getaway? Our off-grid cabin is on approximately 10 acres of private woods.

The cabin has a queen bed in the loft and two cots that can accommodate more guests. Guests must be able to climb a wooden log ladder.

The kitchen has a two burner stove and oven that can hold a 9x13 pan. Although we do not have running water, we do have a hand washing sink as well as a sink for washing dishes. We also provide you with plenty of water for your stay. We also have dishes, utensils, hot dog sticks, fry pie makers, pots and pans, a tripod grill for over the fire and a small charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal).

Outside, we have a fire pit, wood to collect or for purchase and a hammock to fully enjoy your stay. Our bathroom is an outhouse and has been described as the “cleanest outhouse in Michigan.” Our latest addition is a rustic outdoor shower! We provide water which is heated by solar power (or you can heat some on the stove to hurry the process!)

Within 1/4 mile is the St. Joe River which is a great place for kayaking. We also have kayaks and quads for rent. We also have some short trails on the property and a rail road bed adjacent to the cabin area.

Our cabin is powered by a small and very quiet Honda generator. It is super easy to start. The cabin’s main source of heat is a wood stove with wood we provide. An air conditioner is provided for the summer.

More than two people will be an additional $10 per night per person.

I look forward to helping you have an amazing getaway with NO hidden fees!

Building this cabin was a wonderful idea by Sandra. My girlfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights on our way back home from Ann Arbor, and we truly had a fantastic time. It's so nice to have places like this that allow you to disconnect and appreciate the world around you fully. We were sad to leave, and will be back. Thank you!

My partner and I had an amazing relaxing almost camping weekend here for our anniversary. Sandy was kind, accommodating, and wonderful. We loved the little cabin in the woods. We cooked on the open fire and the gas stove! It was just the right balance of outdoors and inside. We would love to visit again in the fall!

Great "off grid" experience, no running water or indoor restrooms but one would hardly notice here. The cabin has everything else one could want. Beautiful walking trails and bonfire pit outdoors. Great wood stove inside. Very peaceful and quiet, no road noise. Sandy was incredible in providing everything you need to be comfortable and enjoy your stay. Would most certainly return for another stay!

Janet is a perfect host. Up on arrival she describes everything to you and then leaves you to your vacation with a great smile and humble. Its the perfect getaway for those who are observers of nature. All hiking trails lead back to the cabin. When the larger city life gets a bit too much for you, Go to THE CABIN IN THE WOODS.

Husband and I stayed for a much needed weekend get-away. Cabin was nicely decorated, comfortable and clean. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals. We had perfect weather so we spent the majority of our time relaxing on the deck or around the firepit. We never turned on the TV or needed WIFI, but it was provided along with movies and games. I will say that the outhouse was the cleanest/cutest we've been in! Overall we had a great stay and loved this little cabin. If you are looking for an affordable rustic place to relax in the woods this is it!

We really enjoyed our gals weekend! Property and woods are beautiful. We left windows open all day and all night in 80-85° temps and cabin was cool enough to sleep without the AC. Night time temps were 60s. Slept very well. Only uses electricity at night for the outside lights and preparing dinner. We will be back! Thank you Sandy!

Our stay expectation was easily surpassed when my dog and I spent a birthday weekend here. The cabin was incredibly cozy and well built. My ESA dog had just turned 5 the day before and I had planned a getaway for the two of us. This year has been difficult as my dog had bilateral TPLO surgery (he had 2 torn meniscuses and 2 torn ccl’s in his hind legs). This year we traveled and hiked a bit less as recovery took several months. This little cabin was just perfect! Kai was able to run around and enjoy multiple naps in front of the fireplace and on the patio. On top of the quaintness and perfection of this little cabin in the woods, Sandy was an exceptional host! Kai and I look forward to staying again soon!

This little cabin in the woods is truly a gem for my husband and I and our pups. And the best part is the warmth and hospitality that Sandy exudes. She is communicative before arriving, gets you set up and then leaves you to your getaway unless you need her. The cabin is very well appointed. It has everything you need to truly relax, explore and make memories. We purchased fire at the cabin for $5 and it was a generous amount of wood (great value). We cooked dinner on the cast iron and outdoor fire pit tools and had a wonderful meal. Sandy gave us great suggestions on local walks and we ended up also driving to some dog friendly parks and getting ice cream. You're close enough to the town (less than 15 min) but when you're at the cabin, it feels secluded and VERY private. We loved trying the outdoor shower (a first for us!) And the outhouse felt like an actual bathroom behind the cabin. Very clean, comfortable. Overall this was amazing. We're already think ahead to when we can try to come back. If you're on the fence, just book. You won't regret it!

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. The cabin had just the right amount of amenities. The couch was very comfortable. We lounged, cooked over the fire, played board games. Sandy met us when we arrived after that we did not see another human for the entire stay.It was perfect. I particularly enjoyed the outside shower at night. My only complaint is we should have stayconger.
