We were on a cruise which ended in Papeete. We decided to spend an additional 2 nights in the area and chose Moorea due to proximity by ferry. I researched hotels and chose Hibiscus due to the excellent ratings and price. The hotel exceeded my expectations. I booked a deluxe bungalow by the beach and we had a view of the ocean from our room. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the use of fridge, microwave and hot pot. There is a small shopping area within walking distance that has stores and restaurants. We ate twice at Sea you soon. I did not see many groceries to buy for snacks or breakfast at the grocery store but they did have good Tahiti lotions, oils, and soaps. The taxi fare from ferry is about 6000xpf. The ocean by the hotel is okay for swimming but not snorkeling. I was told that a better public snorkeling beach is Tipaniers about 2-3 miles away. The resort was above and beyond our expectations. The breakfast buffet was outstanding - especially the fresh pastries and the omelette bar manned by Heinz. The snorkeling right off shore was fabulous. If we ever are able to return to Moorea, we will definitely stay at the Sofitel Kia Ora again!

We recently stayed at this resort and had a mixed experience. The positives were definitely the friendly and welcoming staff, who were always pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. The beachfront location was beautiful, and having both a beach and a pool gave us plenty of options for relaxing. The happy hour was excellent and something we looked forward to each day. The resort grounds and gardens were absolutely gorgeous and very well maintained. We also appreciated that towels were provided for both the beach and pool, making things convenient. Unfortunately, there were several issues with our room. It was not as clean as we expected, the refrigerator did not work properly, and the hot tub on our balcony was not clean and appeared poorly maintained. We were also surprised that the room did not include a microwave, which would have been helpful during our stay. Another consideration is the location. While the setting is beautiful, it is not really within walking distance of shops, restaurants, or other attractions, so transportation is necessary. Overall, the resort has beautiful grounds, a great beach, and wonderful staff, but the room maintenance and cleanliness need improvement to match the otherwise pleasant experience.

Beautiful saltwater pool overlooking the ocean, very friendly helpful family at reception, very clean, great location, food available or use kitchen.

Great place to stay while waiting on your cruise to begin. Nice and quiet. Rooms have seen better days. They also insist on closing out your tab after each drink. Not sure why they do this, but it was incredibly annoying.
