Room with a view!!
Fabtastic location to enjoy one of the best views ever with the dignity of Mount Etna as a back drop. Room we had was small but very adequate with a balcony overlooking everything. Staff were all top notch and hotel facilities, including a pool and deck, worthy of this location. A nice oasis from the hustle and bustle of beautiful Taormina below. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is very high on the hill. The rooms are very old fashioned style. Shower very bad. Ran out of hot water and had no pressure. Pool closes at 7 pm. They Charged for coffee for included breakfast, which is weird in Italian culture.

AMAZING hotel with amazing service!
Everything about our stay at Hotel Sole Costello was great! I can't say enough about how friendly the staff was - from check-in, to breakfast every morning, and especially to the poolside bartender in the afternoon! Some of the negative reviews we had read prior to our trip mentioned that the rooms didn't have air conditioning in June, but that was absolutely not the case! Our room had central air that kept the room feeling great and was constantly operating (as long as the balcony door was closed). From our experience, the negative reviews saying that the rooms were hot or full of mosquitos were absolutely unfounded. Quick note about traveling into downtown Taormina - there are two staircases that lead from the hotel directly down into the city center, and the front desk staff gave us very clear directions when we checked in about how to access each staircase and which one to use at night, etc. It was an easy walk down (taking about 15 - 20 minutes by the time we stopped to admire the amazing views), but it could definitely be a challenge to walk up the stairs at the end of a long day of sight-seeing! Luckily the city bus (stops are labelled "Fermata") stopped right at the front door of the hotel! The name of the stop is Madonna della Rocca and there is a bus schedule posted right in the lobby for easy reference. All in all - a truly amazing hotel and great way to experience everything that Taormina has to offer!!!

Friendly welcoming staff, really nice breakfasts, including delicious home made cake. Lovely pool with fantastic views over the bay and of Mount Etna. Would definitely stay here again.

Friendly staff - basic room
Hotel reception areas were in good condition with friendly and helpful staff. My room however, was very basic and outdated with cracked plaster and cracked tiles in the bathroom. That bathroom was small with a small shower. The doors are also paper-thin so could hear everything in the hallway. Was fine for a few nights (shorter stay) though.

Good enough at a affordable price level
We went to Taormina for a nice getaway. The hotel has a price level that you can afford and it does show in certain areas. + The view is amazing + Friendly and service-oriented staff with good english + Very calm - The hotel is located almost at the very top of the mountain. I would not recommend the hotel if you do not have a car. It will either cost you around 15 euro to get up the hill, or you will have a tough exercise - We had the dinner/buffet one night for 20 euro and it is a rip-off - Breakfast is the same every morning and not a very good. Decent at its best Regardless of the cons, I would recommend it if you are looking at something affordable at a pricey destination. Manage your expectations and do not expect to check-in at a high-end hotel.

Last minute booking due to flight being cancelled and found the cheapest one with a pool. Located right at the top of the hill which gives the most stunning views. Internally it requires a full refurbishment which is a shame as the staff so friendly and helpful. The pool area was stunning and perfect to sunbath and swim. It’s cheap and the reason is it’s dated inside. If they could invest it would be well worth more. If you’re on a budget and happy to walk for 15 mins (it’s a lot of steps) and want a pool then this place is perfect. Great breakfast.

Sleepless in Sicily
View is amazing, but I had a terrible night's sleep. There is no air conditioning in the rooms - which in Sicily in th summer means a sleepless night. The doors open on to the balcony with an amazing view, which I had to keep open throughout the night. This means that you can hear everything from the other rooms. It also means Mosquitos swarm onto the room, meaning that you have the choice of closing the doors and cooking to death, or opening them and being eaten alive - the choice is yours. I also asked for an iron so I could wear a nice shirt on my birthday. They said they didn't provide this service for 'safety reasons' (it seemed like I'd gone and asked to use a flamethrower to get rid of the creases in my shirt). So instead I had to turn the shower on hot and leave my shirt in a makeshift steam room and waste 15 minutes worth of water, but at least I was safe from a potential iron apocalypse. I can't fault the staff - they were friendly, but the hotel is lacking so much. It needs to be refurbished, or at the very least have fans provided in the room. You should also bring some ropes and climbing equipment, as you need to scale a small mountain to get to the town - but great views and exercise!

The hotel has a lovely view overlooking Taormina. It's quite a hike from the centre so you'll have to use the local bus to get to places.

Amazing view!
The hotel was very comfortable and the staff very helpful but by far the best thing about this hotel is the amazing view of Taormina and Etna. To wake up to Etna every morning took my breath away. I would stay here again for that alone.

Good budget hotel
Great location if you want the views of Taormina and convenient bus access. My only 2 complaints- staff would not allow outside food/drink in the hotel, and the air conditioning was only on in the rooms certain hours, so many times the room was slightly uncomfortably hot. However, the room was very clean and in a safe area.

RUDE BLOND LADY
The hotel view is amazing, but that is ALL! Poor and disorganized breakfast, staff speaks very little english and when they do, they don`t have a clue of what they are doing, specially the "old blond lady" that was extremely rude with me and my family because they couldn`t find my wi-fi already PAID ticket and they wanted to charge me again for it. She was proper screaming at all of us. And she didn`t apologized after seeing that was their mistake. Talking about internet: it just works in the reception area, RIDICULOUS! Don`t plan to stay there again, there are so many nice hotels and I am sure with very friendly staff in the city center.

Broken air conditioner!
We stayed at this hotel a few nights ago and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The pool was wonderful and the hotel was clean. Unfortunately, our air conditioner didn't work. A hotel desk clerk came in at about midnight and changed our room. The air conditioner in THAT room worked for about an hour and then the rest of the night was HOT. We couldn't sleep at all. If the air had worked, this hotel would have been wonderful.

Bad in every respect. And Dangerous.
The worse part of this hotel is the hostility of the staff. Hotels.com seems to block reviews with specific instances. Suffice it to say that if you are concerned about your own personal safety, do not stay here. Other than that, the rooms and common areas (aside from the lobby, which is passable) are in serious need of repair and updating. Lots of noise in the morning. It is a minimum 25 minute walk to town and don't even try walking back (a considerable upward climb of several hundred stairs).

Great views but be prepared for a treak !
the most amazing views ,wow, beautiful panoramic views accross to the sea and Mt Etna, stunning. Carmen on reception was fantastic a great aset for the hotel, staff generally were very friendly. Breakfast was continental and quite basic, my friend said you could break a window with the bread rolls ! Being on top of a hill getting down to the town via 400 steps was fine but getting back up after some wine would not be an option for most so it means a bus at 1.80 euro or taxi at 15 euro, terribly expensive, our advice take the bus ! All in all a great holiday in a nice hotel but if you like the nite life then Taormina is not for you Cheers

We live and Sicily and wanted a short get away before moving back to the states . To sum it up Great hotel ,breathtaking views, easy access to city center. The hotel staff were kinda rude even for europe the AC would only run for about 6hrs out of the day and when it did your better off opening the window, it advertises pet friendly but is very much not we even posted a note in the reservation stating we would have our pug.Great pool and a really nice pizzera about 3mins up the hill. Also if your driving parking is cheap at 5 euro a day.

The hotel was quite good and it had an excellent view. The room was dated and the double bed was just two single beds pushed together. The biggest disappointment was how expensive it was to eat and drink in the hotel. Like most of Taormina, drinks and food are overpriced. We were mostly disappointed with the coperto we had to pay for eating dinner at the hotel's restaurant. It seems you are not entitled to any privileges even after paying quite a lot to stay here.

You definitely need to spend extra to get a room with a balcony because there are some fantastic views. The staff are really welcoming and will help wherever possible. Fabulous pool with great views over the town, the bay and Etna. Beware of the long walk down into Taormina, it is OK and will improve your fitness! There is a bus service but on some you will need to buy a ticket before you travel. Town is lively, great colour but noisy at night. This hotel is well away from the noise. It you are going to drive be prepared for narrow roads and extremely sharp bends. Listen out for the buses sounding their horns, that means you have to pull into the side to let them through.

Disappointed with standard room booked but moved to an upgraded room (with an upgrade premium) and the cost was worth it for the view of Mt Etna and the coast. Beautiful swimming pool but limited room around it for sunbathing. Breakfast was adequate but did not sample the evening meal. Must be fairly fit if walking into town as it include a steep descent of 500 steps into town. Local bus available but not after 21:50 and taxis expensive.

Aunque el hotel no es nuevo, está muy cuidado. Las vistas son espectaculares. Se puede aparcar gratis en la puerta y tiene parada de bus en la puerta al centro e Isola Bella. El único probiema son las noches, que si bajas al centro de Taormina tienes que volver en taxi. Por ello, recomiendo aprovechar los dos restaurantes a cada lado del hotel para la cena y aprovechar el dia en Taormina. Se duerme muy bien (sin calor) por la altura. El personal y el desayuno de 10. La bolleria es del dia

De locatie is niet te evenaren. Personeel is vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De toekomstige patrones Celeste is super. Minder zijn de maaltijden. Niet slecht maar wat gewoon. Ok ze zijn zeker niet prijzig. De accomodatie heeft een opknapbeurt nodig. Het was de vierde maal dat ik er mijn vakantie doorbracht.
