"This is a beautiful property (very modern and streamlined) with stunning views of the coast. We stayed in one of the budget buildings next door which was great as we were a large group and there was a common lounge and kitchen. We loved the bakery and shops in the main lobby area. The onsen was loved by everyone in our party. Staff are super helpful and kind. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here."

"We stayed here 3 nights in April (visiting from NYC). My husband got food poisoning from the hotel the second night (we know this because we shared every meal on our trip except 1). Food in general was not very good… we didn’t realize the ryokan culture is to eat a huge breakfast and dinner at the hotel, so we saw the reviews saying the food isn’t great and didn’t think much of it. The reviews are right! Other thoughts: if you google kii-katsuura one of the main attractions is whale watching, the hotel staff knew nothing about it. We had to do our own research and find a tour (tour co was 20 min away and picked us up from our hotel but just odd hotel staff were unhelpful). Also private outdoor onsen rooms on the first floor do not have a view of the ocean, which was a disappointment, worth it to pay more for a higher floor. But mostly do not recommend this place at all."

"My husband and I stayed one night and we had an amazing time. The onsen was spacious, clean, very comfortable, a beautiful scenery of nature. It was an absolute delight. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, cozy, very cute and we'll equipped. The dinner was the best meal we have had in Japan. Absolutely delicious! There was so much work into every bite, great flavor, beautiful presentation, amazing attention from the staff. We absolutely enjoyed our stay, the onsen, the dinner, everything. Simply perfect!"
