Grace and Danny at reception were so inviting and very helpful. A bit far from town but a shuttle is offered to and from the beach everyday for guests. I recommend getting dinner at the hostel because the food was amazing every night. Very social and the pool was great to hangout by for a chill day.
They take care of their residents…. In all situations… Respect

If you want to stay for a few days and learn surfing and be part of a community that has different activities every day this is a good place. If you want to try camping in Costa in a jungle or close to beach, I will stay away from here. I just stayed for a night so tough to come to a conclusion but it is not glamping as they advertise. The tent is pretty small with one mattress and a table fan. The surrounding is very unkempt. The wi fi doesn't work in tents. Overall no value for money if you take the exclusive tent and don't indulge in activities with them.
Dreamsea Surf camp is a 30-40min difficult hike from the beach. the hike is rocky and not exactly safe after sunset. The place is run by volunteers that aren't always friendly. If you want to a place far away from the beach, with a small portion of whatever is left from breakfast from the volunteers.. this is the place for you. The tent is as shown in the pictures. They offer a shuttle to the beach on some days! (Unfortunately, I wasn't there for those days.) I was disappointed. I would not recommend this place. They did an excellent job advertising this "surfcamp".

Pros: Loved it. All the staff and people here are what make this place an amazing gem. Super friendly, interesting to engage and just beautiful human beings in general. The sense of community here is by far the best experience in Costa Rica I have had.
Cons: Only in the interest of helping Dreamsea Surfcamp to grow positively so i make these comments. The communal washrooms and shower on our visit respectfully needed some up-keeping more frequently due to the volume of travellers staying in the camp. The glamping tent we stayed in did not have lighting inside while other’s did have lighting - for consistent safety it would be helpful. Overall, if the capacity for the washrooms / showers / communcal dining were doubled as polished cement structures it would have been ideal and sustainable. For example: Lola’s restroom design in Playa Avellenas would work perfect for the camp. I loved Dreamsea and hope these recommendations do not offend anyone.
Robert runs Dreamsea in Tamarindo. Robert is an incredible host. Dreamsea is the perfect escape for the adventurous. The camp is located a 10 min drive away from town. The environment is laid back and relaxed. They drive you down to the beach every day and they have events and party's at night. The tents were cozy and the meals were always tasty. The volunteers are all really hospitable and welcoming. If you're down for a unique experience, this is for you! The monkeys are loud at night, but for me that was all part of the fun. This is ideal for surfers, yoga enthusiasts, beach bums and free spirits.
This place is like a clicky summer camp. If you are going to hang out and take surfing lessons, and eat together, and party at the camp you will like it. However if you want to leave for Tamarindo on your own its not good; the “shuttles” are just trucks and you sit in the beds driving on horrible unpaved roads. They do not leave on time and only run a few times a day. The showes are cold with outsode sinks that are broken, no “room service” was done. Most of the people at the camp are volunteera not guests so you feel like you are intruding on a private party. If it was really cheap it would be great. But its overpriced and too far removed from town to be convenient.
In summary if you want the cultish summer camp experience this place is for you. But don’t expect to feel welcome or comfortable if you are just looking to donyour own thing.

Naturnära
Helt ok mysigt, stora tält. Kul med mycket djurliv. Ligger för sig själv i djungeln så inget för den som vill ha närhet till restauranger.
Awesome place to meet young travelers. Surfers of all levels were welcome. They also had lots of activities like yoga and ping pong. A ways away from town...too far to walk.

More of a commune than a hostel, for better.
This place is largely populated by "work-awayers", these are travelers that volunteer at the camp and received discounted rates. During my stay in March, I'd say over 85% of the people their were these volunteers. Nothing wrong with that, just something I think is worth knowing in advance.
Family style breakfast and dinner, along with a quick camp-wide meeting after dinner to discuss the next days events, all contribute to a family atmosphere, almost like an adult summer camp!
This camp is a one in a lifetime experience. Morning surf sessions with Carlos were amazing. The people is what make this camp remarkable and the food is beyond words.
If you are looking to be at one with nature, Dreamsea is the right place for you! We woke to howler monkeys each morning, right outside of our tent. The food was AMAZING and the bathrooms clean. The other campers were young and lively and partied late, but that's Tamarindo for you!
Staying at Dreamsea was an amazing experience! My twin brother and I arrived in Tamarindo and intended to stay only two nights. However, we loved it so much, we decided to stay 4! Everyone working at Dreamsea was young, attentive, energetic, and enthusiastic. All of the guests staying at Dreamsea were also super rad! It was a beautiful outdoor setting, with beautiful canvas tents and lots of nature. They also have other facilities, such as bathrooms and showers, a multi-tiered hangout space in a tree, hammocks, slacklines, and a workout area. The food was delicious, breakfast is provided, but dinner is worth it.
This camp is truly about surf. Go if you want to learn. Go if you want to surf with other experienced surfers. There is plenty of opportunity to surf if you stay at Dreamsea. They shuttle you to the beach each day, at multiple different intervals. They have many different types, makes, and styles of boards to try. If you're not feeling a surf that day, they provide many other activities. They even offer extended excursions to the surrounding area, some surfing, some not. Either way, you will experience beautiful nature in great company.
Everyone here is social late into the night. Go with an open mind, abandon your sleep schedule, and meet all the great people.
Can't wait to return!

Very nice and everything I expected except that this not a place for 30 somethings trying to just get a tent. Very much a surf camp and filled with young energy. If you enjoy nature and howler monkeys at 5 am this is awesome. Great place for finding friends at camp!

If your young and love to surf this is for you.
The idea is great. Must be a week or longer stay to really fit in as it takes a while to get used to the people, atmosphere and the surroundings at night. If you are a young traveller and love to surf and love to party all night this is where you want to be.
We wanted a rustic experience in the jungle. Tent was nice with great bed. Cold water showers but clean, clean bathrooms... Communal in nature. Great food for breakfast and dinner. We went to camp and this made it easy . If also want to surf that is great from beginner to expert. Over all great vibe not a touristy experience at all

adventurous experience in the forest
The dreamsea surfcamp is for the more adventurous traveller as you stay in tents in the middle of the jungle and therefore can only expect a certain level of comfort. It is an incomparable experience to stay in the wild - to brush your teeth under a sky full of stars, to wake up to he sound of screaming monkeys or to shower together with frogs and snakes. The tents are very nice and are provided with comfortable beds. However, expect to share them with bugs, spiders and scorpions.
The camp is located about a 30 minute walk away from the town of Tamarindo. Twice a day there will be a shuttle that would take you to the close beaches.
While to comfort level is rather low, the adventure level is definitely high. Moreover, the food is great and the staff is nice and helpful. The surf-equipement is in a moderate condition but acceptable.
