"As a single woman traveling alone, what do I want in my hotel/resort? Safety Security Cleanliness/Sanitation Fair Pricing Not too much to ask. Oh but how you failed me during my recent stay at LaQuinta by Wyndham in Federal Way, Washington. In fact, the better question is how many ways did you fail me… Date of Stay: Two nights, May 15 and 16. Price paid: Booked on Hotels.com Now this is where it gets interesting. Safety and Security: Again, single woman, grandmother actually, traveling alone. Got a great room on the first floor. Everything appeared perfect until I tried to toss the deadbolt to lock the door. It did not work! It was late, so I placed the ironing board against the door in hope that the noise a falling ironing board would make would wake me up. Next day, Saturday, I notified the front desk who promptly sent a serviceman to assess the situation. Guess what? His conclusion was the same as mine. The deadbolt was broken or jammed, but it was not going to lock the door for me/us. Responding he’d call for a locksmith(?) someone more qualified. I agreed and I left for a very long day, visiting a terminally ill friend. I get in around 10pm on Saturday evening and nope. The lock was still broken and surprisingly no one offer to move me to a more secure room. Guess the ironing board will get another workout. But wait there’s more. Cleanliness and sanitation. My room had not been made up. The wet towels were still on the floor, stinking. The garbage had no"

"The hotel overbooked and canceled half of our groups reservations the day before a conference. Their reasoning was that third party vendor reservations are canceled first. They were able to rebook us, but after reserving in advance, the stress of scrambling to find a room the night before we left was unnecessary. At check-in, the line was long and the credit card reader was not working, making check-in at a fully booked hotel that much longer. The issue prevailed through the night, as room service could not run a card either. The IT dept decided to update key card locks on rooms in the evening while the hotel was fully booked, frightening hotel guests and made it uneasy to sleep, as it sounded as if someone was attempting to enter the room. the hotel did send a letter stating this was going to happen, but did not explain that it would be in the evening. And due to the key card update, no guest knew that SOME elevators required a key card to go to some floors and created a back-up and chaos at the elevators. There is no valet parking. and no microwave in the rooms."

"It was really annoying pulling your ID out every time to go in and out to our car to get back into the hotel to pass security. I understand it’s a casino but we are guests of the hotel. The room smelled so bad, we had to have the window open the entire time we stayed, which didn’t help. I had an asthma attack because of how Smokey the room smell was. On the positive side, The staff were very nice!"
