A good base to explore the eastern coast of Tasmania
We arrived after a long drive on a day when the temperature was over 40 degrees, so we were a little jaded. The initial impression of the property was that it was a little dated, but everything was clean and the air con had been put on ready for our arrival. Once we settled in we realised that the property worked very well for us - we were a party of six so it was at capacity. Most of what we needed was provided. There could have been more serving dishes for food, and the fridge is tiny. The shower room has been recently fitted and is good, but perhaps a challenge with six of us in the house. There is a spa bath in the master bedroom, but with drought conditions in place we only used it once. Swansea is a historic rural settlement with a history going back over 150 years. It is a little like going back in time, but that had its charm. Fantastic local information centre, local store for shopping but the beach was not up to much. The Bark Mill Tavern is a good local bar with food and did good take-away pizza cooked in a wood oven. From here we visited cellar doors at Vineyards, would recommend Gala vineyard, and also oyster/shellfish suppliers - as a result we had a New Year’s Eve feast! We also visited the Freycinet national park which is very beautiful.

Hi Rachel, Thank you for sharing your review and comments. We are pleased that you found your "cottage" accommodation worked for your group of 6 especially considering the rather warm conditions. The beach being an ocean beach varies from season to season and sadly at this time of year is a period where some seaweed finds its way to the beach. Other times of the year it is generally pristine. We are please that you enjoyed your step back in time and the local shops and attractions. Thank you for choosing to stay at Swansea Cottages & Motel Suites.

Wonderful cottage with everything you need!
The Swansea Cottages were perfect for our family. The location was great - right near the beach, beside tennis courts and close to town (an easy drive to Freycinet National Park as well). The cottage itself was very clean, organized and very comfortable. The reception was always available to ask questions and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - would definitely come back :)
