We arrived after a long drive on a day when the temperature was over 40 degrees, so we were a little jaded. The initial impression of the property was that it was a little dated, but everything was clean and the air con had been put on ready for our arrival. Once we settled in we realised that the property worked very well for us - we were a party of six so it was at capacity. Most of what we needed was provided. There could have been more serving dishes for food, and the fridge is tiny. The shower room has been recently fitted and is good, but perhaps a challenge with six of us in the house. There is a spa bath in the master bedroom, but with drought conditions in place we only used it once. Swansea is a historic rural settlement with a history going back over 150 years. It is a little like going back in time, but that had its charm. Fantastic local information centre, local store for shopping but the beach was not up to much. The Bark Mill Tavern is a good local bar with food and did good take-away pizza cooked in a wood oven. From here we visited cellar doors at Vineyards, would recommend Gala vineyard, and also oyster/shellfish suppliers - as a result we had a New Year’s Eve feast! We also visited the Freycinet national park which is very beautiful.
