Stayed in main building in Meadows room. Nice and large room with old 4 post bed that was comfortable as could be. Ate at bar, which is down behind main building and service and food was wonderful.

The room is a basement suite and smelling. Didn’t mentioned in the online booking details. Microwave is broken. There was some water left in the coffee pot, and I noticed mold-like spots floating on top. It could be mistaken for oil, but it’s more likely mold from sitting water. Staff is nice.

We stayed in the bird song room. It was a separate building with a balcony that overlooked the elk river. We had to leave early so didn't have breakfast. Cafe had good pizza and beer selection.

The place was very nice clean, very friendly staff. The night we started they were fully occupied which required reservations at the on site restaurant, the staff quickly took our reservation and slowed us to book it in the bar. The bar was not attached to the main house but was down next to the river which made for a nice view and surroundings. The food was good served hot and a decent variety on the menu. I would definitely stay here again. One thing to note there is no off street parking and since they were fully booked parking was a challenge.

Elk River hotel and cafe

We absolutely loved staying here. It was super clean quaint and the staff was very kind. It was like stepping back in time. Our room was beautiful. Very colorful and bright. Beautiful furnishings and the grounds were amazing. Right on Elk River and very quiet. Its a little bit off the highway but well worth the drive. We ate at the restaurant and the food was delicious. We will definitely come back again.

Will be going back and staying longer!

We had absolutely no problem staying at Elk River except our stay wasn't long enough. The young lady who registered us in at 8pm was lovely and another young lady saw us at our car, in the rain, getting our luggage and stopped to help us carry it all to our room. Our Bird Song room was wonderful and clean, we enjoyed every minute except it was just too short. We travel quite a bit from through West Virginia and Elk River will definitely be a stop along the way, making sure we stay a few days to really enjoy it.

Nice getaway in Wild, Wonderful West Virginia!!

This quaint Inn offers a nice getaway in Wild Wonderful West Virginia!! My sister and I stayed in the Birdsong Suite (2 rooms/beds). Not the Greenbrier of course but a lovely place with helpful, hospitable staff. The Cafe’s meals (though limited) were delicious. A nice getaway location or nice place to stay when traveling through.

Loved the Snow room for having a veranda to relax on and easy access to the river to contemplate the beauty of creation. Nice place for the price. Easy check-in and checkout. The hotel decor is gorgeous. Very convenient to the new Elk River Rail trailhead in Gassaway where we biked. We arrived Saturday evening and it was tricky finding a place to park so we were down the block a little ways, but after that we had no issues. The grounds are beautiful but could use some love and care (weeding) and grass removal after mowing.

The deck was extremely nice. Parking was absolutely terrible. No designated parking. The dome was not clean thoroughly prior to getting there and the kitchenette was not restocked and the coffee pot was broken. Other than these things, it was a nice stay though. The deck redeem the whole thing.

Traveling through

We were traveling through the area and picked this hotel using Google maps and Hotels.com. We stayed in the carriage house, Lake room with a king bed. It was comfortable. We had dinner in the cafe. Very good food. Quiet, comfortable, interesting area. The 2 women running it were very helpful. Since it's a small staff, don't arrive before 4pm or you might have to wait. We would stay here again
