Built in 1943 Hanford was part of the Manhattan Project. This was home to the B Reactor, the world's first first full-scale plutonium production reactor. The Plutonium manufactured here was used in the first nuclear bomb, tested at the Trinity site, and in Fat Man, the bomb detonated over Nagasaki, Japan. Fascinating tour.
My husband likes physics and I like adventures so we decided to check out their public tour. :)
