“Escape” to a Waterfront Artist’s Home on Secluded Evergreen Point, Taunton Bay
This cedar and granite retreat sits on a point 25’ from the water and offers tremendous bay views, secluded canoeing/kayaking, and quick access to Acadia or Schoodic. Originally built as an artist’s hideaway on the unique protected waters of Taunton Bay, Escape is a perfect refuge for those looking to enjoy the water, explore the islands and shores, or lounge on the massive deck.
“Escape” is a modern, spacious vacation retreat with 2BR and a large loft, 3Baths and a large wraparound deck that steps down to the granite grottos of Taunton Bay. The downstairs flooring and carpeting have just been redone. A spacious master suite offers great bay views from every window and a pink granite fireplace. The main kitchen is open and well appointed with stainless appliances and a rough granite half wall separating it from the dining and living rooms. The loft has three beds, great views and a game area for the children. A small second bedroom, with views, is situated on the main level adjacent to a bath/laundry room. Two canoes and a kayak are available for exploring the bay and the mussel bed.
The home provides WiFi, BBQ, washer/dryer and a TV/DVD.
This quiet and secluded location is perfect for relaxing on the deck or the shore and within 30 minutes drive to Acadia or Schoodic Point. Your family will love playing in the calm water on the cove, exploring the bay and the marine life around the mussel beds and, of course, listening to the loons.

My family loved our stay at "Escape!" The house sat right on the water's edge where my kids could watch the change in the tides and search for intertidal creatures during the day and at night, we would sit on the back porch and watch the sunset over the water. The house was clean and had everything we needed for our week away. We would absolutely stay here again!
Waking up every morning to the view in the waterfront and seeing the stars on a clear night was truly one of the great assets of this location. Property owner was responsive and helpful when needed. Looking forward to going back.
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Escape. It was quite spacious for our family of six and had a gorgeous backyard. Love to spend more time at the Escape on our future visits to Acadia NP and Mt. Desert Island. The main living area has been recently updated and loved the amount of space we had including the convenience of cooking in the open kitchen.
This house is an escape. It has a beautiful view and it is quiet and serene. Anyone staying in the loft needs to come down to the first floor to use the bathroom. Property is approx. 45 mins from Bar Harbor.
Escape was a perfect oasis for our time in Maine! It was a peaceful, quiet, secluded location where we spent time canoeing, fishing, and exploring the beauty of the Taunton Bay nature and wildlife. We found it to be a manageable distance from Bar Harbor and Acadia, the quiet side of Mount Desert Island, and Schoodic Peninsula. The amenities of the property were more than satisfactory and the invaluable insight into the area from the hosts helped make our stay memorable. Cannot recommend enough!
Amazing spot! Secluded, beautiful sunsets and loved watching the tide change. We saw seals, eagles and all types of seagulls. Made lobsters multiple times.
Our dogs really enjoyed the cove. Such a great spot! Only recommendation would be to note in the listing that the fireplace is “non working” or not for guest use.
We LOVED this unique and lovely home perched above the water in a beautiful, quiet, peaceful area. It is immaculately clean, has everything one needs to be comfortable in every way, and is a place we'd love to return to when we visit the area again. The owner is kind and provides all kinds of useful, interesting information about the area. As said above, book it.
Property was great. Wonderful view of the Bay. Away from Bar Harbor crowd but a nice drive down there if you wanted to. Everything is easy to get to. We came a little early in the season, so a lot of places were just opening up. But it also meant less people!
Property had everything you needed. I suggest boiling your own lobster in the back with water from the bay just like owner suggested. It was great. We would definitely stay here again.
The location is very beautiful with gorgeous views when the sunsets. Extremely clean. Just a great house for a quiet and relaxing vacation.
Acadia/Bar Harbor is a good 45 minute drive from house. Ellsworth with grocery stores and fast food restaurants 20 minutes.
The one negative is indoor furniture is pretty uncomfortable and difficult to get on and off of since so close to the floor. Mark is great to communicate with. Easy check in/out.
This was our second stay at Escape and we loved it just as much, if not more, than our first stay (if thats even possible!).
This is a clean, extremely well stocked, beautiful property and location. It truly checks all the boxes both in terms of the property, location, and host. We couldnt find fault with anything if our lives depended on it! Plenty of kitchenware for us to cook what we wanted to, and the basic spices and plenty of utensils. The house is stocked with anything we could have needed and was cozy, welcoming and extremely clean. The location is quiet and private and all the info provided is great.
I almost hate to rave so much about it for fear we may have trouble getting a spot next year!
My son and I had a wonderful week long stay at this beautiful, comfortable and quiet home right on the water. The herons, sea ducks and gulls fly close as they go around the point making it a superb location for viewing the local wildlife from either inside or outside of the home. In addition, we heard loon calls in the morning and evening on most days.
We had an initial problem with contacting the owner to get the necessary information to check into the home. The owner called us back as soon as he could, and then compensated us for the inconvenience resolving the issue to our complete satisfaction. We would stay here again in a heartbeat anytime we come back to this area. Highly recommended!
We absolutely loved our time at Escape lake house in Maine! The setting was gorgeous and cannot be beat. The view is never the same and we loved watching the changing light on the water.
The house is as described in the listing and the primary bedroom and bathroom are great. Note that one of the “bathrooms” is actually in a side entry room with the washer/dryer and extra stove, and is not super private. Also, 2 of the showers are very small stand-up showers. But, that said, for just 2 of us, this was not an issue and the location and views are worth it!
Mark sent lots of good info prior to our trip and we contacted him after arrival to report a potential issue that turned out to be nothing. Communication with him was fast and efficient.
Overall, we really loved our stay at Escape and we found it to be a great location for exploring Acadia and the Schoodic peninsula. It was also great to just hang at the house and enjoy the wonderful, ever-changing views.
Thanks to Mark for sharing Escape with us! We hope to return again soon!
Thank you for letting us rent your beautiful home. We really enjoyed our stay here while visiting Acadia NP. The views and setup of the house were perfect. We would love to stay here again someday.
Escape is our favorite place to come and relax. It is peaceful and beautiful. Easy to get to Acadia for hiking. Mark is very easy to communicate with. And the sunsets are magnificent!
ESCAPE on Evergreen Point is a lovely, large house. You cannot beat the location just feet away from the bay. Also, it is just north and east of MDI but an easy drive to Acadia. Also an easy drive to the Schoodic Penninsula that we also love. I would rent this property again in a heart-beat!
My family of five had a wonderful time at the property. and exploring the Schoodic Peninsula and seeing the rest of Acadia. We really enjoyed kayaking and taking the canoes out on the bay. Sunsets with a campfire and smores were so relaxing and fun at the end of the day.
We had a wonderful time, could NOT get over the amazing views. We would stay here again and again! Lots of places to go hiking and exploring, though we went off season so not a lot of close restaurants open (which we knew going in).
Place is exactly what we were looking for. Secluded, right on the ocean. Loons and seals right in front of the property. Firepit on the rocks. Amazing! Cannot wait to rent it again.
