The house is in the process of being updated. The price was good but since we did most activities in Sister Bay and Fish Creek, we should have stayed closer to them. If you're doing more around Sturgeon Bay, I'd highly recommend this house. Affordability, location and cleanliness were key
We have very mixed feelings about this rental = good & bad. The amount of space, the very comfortable beds, the open floor plan, & full kitchen (not to forget the washer/dryer) all are great. The location also is nice if you fly into Milwaukee & then drive up to Sturgeon Bay (~2.5 hr), and more touristy destinations to the north are reasonably close. But there are significant downsides that we (very frequent vrbo users) can’t overlook. 1) The patio, full of weeds, has a tiny table that barely seats 4. And the table’s umbrella was infested with bees, as was the clothesline, so we could use neither. 2) The main bathroom’s tub/shower was a disaster. No matter how we cleaned the hair trap & tub, the water backed up & the tub got dirty. And the shower doors aren’t attached on the bottom so they swing wildly if you’re not super careful. Net, if you need a tub for bathing yourself or children, give this place a pass. 3) This may be minor to many people, but if you are someone who applies makeup, bring your own light. NONE of the places with mirrors has decent lighting, an opinion for someone who only applies mascara but advocating for my sister ....

Nice house with better hosts
This house looks really nice I’m in their pictures. The check-in was easy and they told us no rush when we were checking out which is always welcome. Once we got to the house, admittedly, we were a little skeptical. It doesn’t appear to be in a great neighborhood and it’s much older than you can tell from the pictures. However, it’s nice. You can tell the owners are trying to make upgrades to the house and they labeled every drawer so you knew right where to look. That said, some of the furnishings could use another upgrade such as the very economical dish ware. We washed all our plates and glasses because it appeared like it had been some time since they were washed or you got the impression the stickers were removed before the dishes/pans were put away.
I will say, we blew a fuse within the first hour of being there and exploring (it’s an old house so this isn’t a knock, it’s easy to do). The newly installed (and strong!) a/c unit went out so we promptly called both numbers listed for the owners and they called us back within 10 minutes. We talked to them for over 30 minutes troubleshooting and eventually getting the a/c back on.
So, overall, it’s a good stay. The neighborhood gives the impression that you don’t want to leave nice things outside, the house is a bit older but actually nice on the inside, it’s well organized, and the owners are helpful and responsive. You get the sense it’s a newer property and with time they will continue to make improvements.
A retro property with simplistic decor. The house was very clean and well furnished. It had everything we needed and was conveniently located in Sturgeon Bay.
Clean and cute. Although we didn't spend a ton of time there, the description was spot on, the rooms were spacious, everything was clean but not sterile homey. Close to so many places and decent priced. Thank you for sharing your home with us
Nice·house tucked near the edge of a field, so the traffic was very minimal. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fully supplied with pan's, utensils and dishes. Property is showing its age a bit, but worked out well for my family's visit to sturgeon bay.
The location is amazing! Walking distance to the big park in Sturgeon Bay. The hosts were incredible! From communication to fresh local coffee & awesome restaurant recommendations, they were amazing. Perfect for families & friends with the 3 separate bedrooms & communal gathering space for you to catch up on your Netflix at night after hiking & biking Door County.
Overall, it was a nice place to stay. It is a quiet neighborhood. It was nice to have access to the three bedrooms, kitchen, and living room. It was also nice to be able to pull our car into a garage. We would consider renting the house again the next time we are staying in the Sturgeon Bay area. However, the livingroom has shears versus curtains covering the windows so at night there isn’t any privacy. The walkway and floor that leads into the livingroom is at a downward angle with no rails to grab onto. At issue is that the lighting is not great and there is a drop off from the kitchen area into the livingroom which could result in injury. I say that because the first one of us into the living room did not realize there was a drop off and came down hard, fell forward and nearly hit her head on the coffee table. The jolt to her knee was enough that she suffered for a few days.Outlets need to be updated as some of them would not keep some phone charges plugged in enough to charge.Let people know that paper towels and coffee filters are not provided. Also list what coffee filters work for your coffee makers. The mailbox was over flowing. You could have the cleaning crew collect the mail and put it in a box in the garage for your review at a later date.Rain gutter maintenance is needed. Minimally one of the down spouts is not connected so the rain is directed to the foundation of the house.
Very nice place. Quiet neighborhood. Walking distance to Sunset Park and downtown. The house was built in the 1940's so it is not perfect but nice, clean and enough room for our group of 5. We spent most of our days visiting Door County so a hot shower and a place to make breakfast and a couple dinners is all we needed. We did have a 18ft boat on our trip. Had enough room to park it next to the garage and plug it in for the night.
We went with a friend's family. So in total there are 4 adults and 3 kids. The kids love this place. They can play together in the living room (board game provided!). And they shared the 2-bed bedroom (we added the extra folding bed there, so each kid has their own bed).
Great house for my dad, brother, and I to set up as home base for our fishing trip to Sturgeon Bay. There was a boat ramp located 4 minutes away as well as many restaurants! Couldn’t ask for much more in a house!
