Maclin Lodge Motel

"Excellent motel and staff. However the attached Chinese restaurant was by far the worst Chinese food we have ever experienced (aged in our 70s so been in a few). The wine was cask wine and obviously off, though the host who spoke little English thought it was fine, though the price was similar to a glass of good bottle fresh wine. The food was terrible. My wife ordered satay chicken. The plate came out as a pile of green beans with 4 pieces of chicken and a sloppy sauce that did not resemble satay by any standard. Though once again the price was steep. Amazed they have not been closed down."

"We regularly stay here. The only thing I would ask and this is for all motels that they let you know if the bed is firm or soft. I know it’s a big ask but it’s really disappointing when you’re so tired and get into bed and it’s so hard you can’t rest. First world problem I know but it’s the only fault I can find."

"The log cabin was very comfortable and very well set-up for having a dog.The fire and supply of wood was a bonus as it was very wet and cold so it was great to be able to warm up with a warm fire at the end of a great day exploring Bowral and the surrounding towns of the Southern Highlands. The kitchen was well stocked and all the little touches in the bathroom made for a lovely stay. All in all would highly recommend this property!!!"

"It was like stepping back in time when we walked into our room at this motel - old fashioned and very much 1960's style. (The bathroom floor tiling took me back to the days when I used to live with my grandmother who had a bathroom floor of the same design!) However, these remarks are not meant as unkind criticisms. This motel was well located near our party venue and there was parking right outside our room. The spacious room was spotless and had all the toiletry and tea/coffee making supplies which we have come to expect in Australian motels. The bed was really comfortable and the sheets were crisp and clean. All in all this motel suited us admirably and I would recommend it. Travelers should note that there is no reception as it is a 'self check-in' motel, which means you need to get room number and key code before you can get into the room. However, this is a straight forward process. My only negative criticism is that it was a bit overpriced, especially as we stayed in the depth of winter."
