Great Place for a Family Retreat
A very nice property that is nicely furnished with a gorgeous view of the lake. The amenities were excellent. I would stay here again and again and again. The host was awesome from check-in, answering random questions, and at check-out.

Nice place. No complaints. We spent lots of time away from the property however and couldn’t appreciate all the amenities. Being Birkie skiers, we drove north to Hayward and Cable daily, an hour to Cable. A few notes: Apple map directions sent us past our turn so use host’s written directions. Also bring your own wax paper, tupperware, etc as the kitchen is stocked a bit sparsely. Also , ping pong balls were not up to the standards of our guests. Bring your own.

Hi Everyone- No need to bring your own ping pong balls. Upon reading this review, I immediately inspected the ping pong balls at the property because something just didn't seem right. It appears a previous guest swapped out the balls that I normally supply for guests with some lower quality beer pong balls. I feel bad about this. I just didn't catch it before this guest arrived. I now have the bin refilled with Franklin and Stiga brand ping pong balls and I'll keep a closer eye on this going forward. If you choose to stay with us, and something just doesn't seem right, I absolutely insist that you contact me. Would like to think that I am very responsive and I will do my best to make it right as soon as possible. All the previous reviews seem to reflect that. Also, our kitchens are not stocked "sparsely" as this guest contends. You can book with us confidently, knowing that our kitchens at all of our properties are stocked with pots, pans, cooking sheets, cooking utensils, strainers, cutting boards, dishes, bowls, plates, glasses, plastic cups for the kids, silverware, coffee mugs, toaster, crock pot, coffee maker, coffee filters, real wine glasses, several rolls of paper towels, dishwasher tabs, Dawn soap at the sink, surface cleaners, garbage bags, dish towels, and more. It's tough to stay in stock on stuff like wax paper and tupperware so we kindly ask guests to bring that stuff with if they need it for their stay. I do give all guests, including this guest, a quick run-down on the things that we don't supply in the kitchen, upon booking, so that you can use that to plan with. thanks, Brad

Lovely Cabin
We loved our stay at the Cattail Chalet, everything was incredibly clean and tidy. We stayed for yhe ling Thanksgiving weekend and enjoyed cooking together and walks along the trails. We especially appreciated the list of things to do provided by the host. Check out the whistling punk cafe in town, yummy treats and great coffee as well as beer. We'll definatelt come back again!

Lovely cabin, unfortunate beds.
The cabin is absolutely beautiful and the little touches and amenities by the host are so thoughtful and appreciated! The welcome book is incredibly organized and easy to follow. The yard is meticulously kept. There was definitely a lot of love put into this home. Unfortunately, the beds are pretty uncomfortable and a thicker topper would help. The sheets and pillows could use an upgrade as well. It was our only disappointment, but did kind of affect our stay as none of us got a good night's sleep. Brad checked in on us occasionally which made us feel he truly cares about the guests' experience, which is why the unfortunate beds and bedding are so confusing. I read ALL the reviews and no one mentioned the hard beds which is a bit perplexing, unless new beds were just installed? With extra padding, we would definitely come back again with our own pillows and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others!!

Quiet Cabin Retreat
Just returned from our stay at Cattail Chalet and couldn’t be happier. We stayed very comfortably with 4 adults and 6 kids. The listing was just as described and includes many thoughtful details and amenities. The lake is smaller which makes it quiet and calm for paddling. Our group had a blast fishing, swimming and paddling. Host communicated very promptly and made sure we had all the needed info to make our stay amazing! A wonderful escape to the north woods!

Amazing across the board!!
From the moment we pulled up to this property, we were awed. It was so clean and uncluttered. The kayaks and paddle boat were so much fun. The loons on the lake (and the beavers and frogs and eagles) were a delight. The fire pit was fabulous and so convenient to have the wood right there. Communications with Brad were timely and always helpful. We cannot wait to book another trip here and maybe expand next door as well with a bigger family reunion! Thank you, Brad!

We really enjoyed our cabin. It was great that our dog could stay with us and could also enjoy retrieving off the dock! We liked that the lake was quiet and we could hear the loons. The lake wasn’t the best for swimming since the water level was low, but we had a great time.

This rental cabin is immaculate! If I could, I would rate it 10 stars. The owners put their heart and soul into making this cabin the best experience possible. I wish we could have extended our stay. The owner is extremely responsive. AMAZING RENTAL PROPERTY!!! The ping pong table was such a hit as well as all the lake activities such as paddle boarding and kayaking! Also, if anyone is looking for a boat rental, we rented a pontoon boat from Lakeside Watercraft Rental 715-577-0964, and they were great. We had the boat for the entire day, and they were so accomdating.

Awesome cabin!
Our family of 7 adults and one infant had a wonderful stay at this cabin. Everything was clean, and the kitchen was well stocked for everything we needed. We played games at the large dining table, and watched movies using the cozy TV set up downstairs. We loved sitting on the deck and listening to the loons, and even caught a few fish from the dock! Great communication by the host. Would definitely rent this place again!

Gorgeous home/cabin/chalet on a beautiful lake!
We absolutely loved this property! The inside is lined with pine and very clean. The rooms were a great size, were stocked with clean bedding and closets and side tables to house all of our clothing. The hallway closet had towels and things we may need. The kitchen is gorgeous too with all the utensils and dishes you could ever need. The downstairs was fabulous rec room type with the ping pong table and couch w/tv. The bathrooms were fully stocked and clean. Everything was decluttered, spacious, and so wonderful! We loved the loft area too and could see having a future larger family trip up there with more kids. The kayaks, canoe, and peddle boat was really fun to use! Fishing was not the best but was still fun to get out and try! The grill worked great (brand new) and the chairs around the fire and on the deck were comfy too! Loved it! Thank you!

Perfect Winter Getaway
We had the most relaxing time in this beautiful cabin. The kids had a blast with the ping pong table and having their own space to play games and watch movies downstairs. The sunsets at dinner time were beautiful. It was a small lake where the kids enjoyed sledding and some ice fishing. It was a great space for two families to spend time together. The cabin was immaculate. It is only about 15 minutes outside of Hayward where there are some great restaurants and fun shopping. We would definitely come back.

Owners are great.
The owners of this property are very helpful, organized and responsive. The house was extremely clean. I'd suggest you try to arrive before sunset as the access road in (about 1/2 mile) is very dark and narrow, but once you drive it that first time, it seems much easier and you'll have no problem after that first "where's the house?" trip. Dog friendly, and accommodating. But we didn't realize no dogs allowed on the furniture (didn't see it on any listing or information prior to our arrival). Our dogs are allowed on couches at home, so we spent quite a bit if time keeping them off. Didn't help that we have the EXACT couch at home, so that confused them. Some rental homes allow it some don't, so we would have appreciated advance notice. Bring a dog bed as there's no carpet for them to sleep on either. I also brought a mat to put under food and water bowls (remember to bring your own) to keep the floor clean. Welcome book with "how to" about appliances, TV's, laundry, grill, etc was very helpful. They even supplied laundry detergent. Beautiful area. Definitively worth the stay.

Holly Lake Family Vacation
Great house for the 9 of us (+ dogs) to stretch out an relax for the week. Holly Lake is great to fish off the pier and kayak around. The area is good for walking and riding bikes on gravel roads. Brad was very easy to communicate with and responsive. They have everything you need at the house. Loooved being able to wash clothes. Stone Lake is a cute town close to the cabin, and we spent a lot of time there boating, visiting WhistlePunk (great coffee & beer, dog friendly) and Stone Lake Pub (great pizza and service).

Lovely lakehouse stay
Brad communicated clearly and answered questions promptly. The property was a good fit for our extended family. We enjoyed using the kayaks, canoe, and paddleboat. The ping pong table was a big hit. Sitting on the deck overlooking the lake was peaceful and lovely. Of course, the firepit was a perfect place to end the days with s'mores.

This house is very nice! The property is very well kept, clean and updated. Communication with the property owner was very good. They provided very well guided directions and information about their property. The use of the 4 kayaks (2 kids 2 adults) is very nice, along with the peddle boat and canoe. Nice to check out the small and quite lake. A very nice dock with bench seat attached. While we did not use the firepit area, it looks great and lots of chairs available to sit around it provided. Many games provided to choose from, including a ping-pong table in the basement! Some very good local places to eat! A few notes/comments for those considering or staying at this property. Not meant to take away from a very nice place, but for information purpose for planning. - As others have noted the lake is pretty low (water level) due to lack of rains. So it's pretty mucky (no sand) around the dock. And lots of weeds. - off the dock you will catch a lot of tiny fish (we didn't catch any keepers during our 2 days of off/on fishing with the kids (5 and 8 yrs old) - as others noted when A/C is running to keep upper levels comfortable in the warmer weather the downstairs get really cold. - there are no kids/young children cups in the kitchen. They are all glass or very skinny/tall plastic. - while this is a nice pot/pan set there is not larger griddle or electric skillet for larger group cooking. Plan accordingly - no extras left around (i.e. no foil, plastic rap, tupperware for leftovers, etc.) - no tablespoon (or 1/2) measuring spoons - you are asked/required to have all dishes washed and put away prior to departure. So plan to hand wash prior to check out, or giving yourself an extra 1.5 hrs to wait for dishwasher to run. ((other vrbos i've stayed at have asked to load and start dishwasher at departure. Then the cleaners put them away... which is much more convenient))

Fantastic stay!
Very clean, well laid out floor plan, beautiful deck and family friendly cabin! We took our UTV's on the trails and had a blast. Cabin was in great proximity to trails and town yet had a quiet, peaceful woodsy atmosphere. Lake was smaller than we expected it to be but perfect for kayaking, canoeing and fishing. We would definitely recommend this VRBO!

Exactly as advertised!
This property provided exactly what we were looking for! We wanted to rent a property large enough for us, plus our two daughters' families -- total of six adults and 2 kids (6 and 4). We had plenty of bedroom space, bathroom space, and living space. Brad (vrbo owner) provided excellent communication -- before, during, and after our trip. There were also excellent instructions posted inside the cabin. I mentioned to Brad that he answered questions even before I knew what to ask... The vrbo provided all of the necessary equipment -- both inside the cabin as well as lake toys. In case of inclement weather (we had one not-so-good day), both TVs are connected to the internet and you can log into your favorite streaming service. Very nice! One nit to be aware of... When using the A/C, when the upstairs is comfortable (ie. 73-74 degrees), the downstairs is quite a bit colder. We didn't have a thermometer, but we're guessing around 66-68 degrees. On a hot day, it felt great. But, at night (if you are using the third bedroom in the basement), you may need an extra blanket on the bed. Like I said, a minor annoyance... One other item... Brad was very clear on this, so it wasn't a surprise to us. But, Lower Holly Lake is small and, due to the drought conditions the last couple of years, kind of shallow. It's perfect for non-motorized boats and toys, but it wouldn't work for a pontoon boat (as an example). We would recommend this property to family and friends!

Wonderful family trip
My family and I (husband, 3yo, 6mo, MIL, SIL, and BIL) plus two dogs had a fantastic time at this cabin. The cabin itself is beautiful and had everything we needed. We appreciated the ice machine and good tasting water so we didn't need to buy our own. The pans were super nice to cook on as they were truly non stick, not a burned pancake in the house! Also the kitchen knives were nice and sharp so cooking was actually really nice there. There was an assortment of books, games, and satellite TV, plus the ability to log into your streaming services so we all had plenty to just relax and do! It's so spacious we had the kids napping downstairs and they weren't disturbed at all by us upstairs. It was pretty warm outside so the AC was amazing to have. Brad was very kind and great with communication. This was our first family cabin trip and it was a major success! I hope to come back again!

We enjoyed our time here! Before arrival Brad have us very thorough instructions/directions regarding cabin access, etc! The cabin was amazing! So clean (I’m very particular!) & a beautiful place to stay a week. We appreciated the fans in each bedroom! We haven’t seen that & was a nice thoughtful detail! The cabin was a great location for our friends to get together with plenty of room for everyone. The property was very clean, inviting, and bright. We wish there had been a few more spare blankets for use on the couch downstairs since it was a little chilly, but no complaints otherwise. Check in and check was super easy.

Great communication from Brad! Very clean cabin with a beautiful thoughtful decor. It had everything we needed and more. The power went out due to ice storm and Brad kept us informed of when power could be restored and came a salted the driveway and steps. Beautiful wooded area with lake view. great for any outdoor activities both winter and summer. Would highly recommend staying here!

Holiday trip
We had a wonderful time with our family between Christmas and new years at this cabin. It was incredibly clean and we had plenty of room for everyone. Our group enjoyed some ice fishing on the lake and the kids cleared snow to make an ice rink but it started snowing before they got to use it. Spent a day skiing at christie mountain and shopping in hayward. It was a perfect get a way!
