We had a fantastic stay at the cottage. The town of Stockholm is very charming with many unique artisan shops. It is a very small town with all of the charm you would expect! The cottage is right on main street.
My bridal party and I stayed here the weekend of my wedding. It was the perfect place for us to stay. Plenty of places for us to get ready. We loved the outdoor patio and the location was perfect.
We enjoyed the house and the neighborhood very much. The kitchen and dining room worked well for a group. Patti was lovely as well. We even used the yard for outdoor games.
Me and my partner rented the cottage for the weekend, although a bit big for us it was perfect. Stockholm's extremely cute downtown and Lake Pepin are just steps away or a short bike ride on one of the town's free bicycles. Our host was great too, I phoned with a few questions and she was happy to help. Go stay at Banner Cottage!
Everything was provided for a very comfortable stay. All restaurant and store employees along the corridor were so friendly and helpful. We hope to come back.
Would’ve appreciated brighter light in the dining area (aging eyes); otherwise all was so good.
We are high school friends looking for a place to meet. Our property fit our needs and had everything we needed. The town is small and we had to drive to find places to eat but found some great places close by.
Great place and location for 5 longtime college friends! Nice to have plenty of sleeping spots,
and two bathrooms is a plus! Space indoors & out for visiting. We ventured along the Great River Road to nearby sites, but mostly enjoyed walking around Stockholm. Some fun shops and restaurants. Go to ‘Humble Moon’ 🌝

Banner Cottage
It was nice to be close to shops in town. We liked having the large table for playing games and gathering around. Main floor bedroom with bath was nice for our 94 year old mother. Kitchen was well supplied with dinnerware, etc.
The property is quite quaint with an old style elegance and feel. It has no central air, but the window a/c are of tlan older style and are very cold and reliable. There is a very active railroad immediately behind the property, however, the noise and vibrations bring me back to my boyhood home and I found it very soothing once we got used to it. The kids found all of the trains very fascinating and watched them often. The host has made sure that it was well supplied and very easy to get a hold of. I will stay here again.
House was old and dark. Old is fine, our house is old, but it didn't live up to the pictures we carefully went over on the website. We were told that 3 cars or 1 car plus truck and boat could be parked in back. Yes, BUT....it is a one way ally and if you park there, you have to back all the way out. Trains run constantly all night long. Lots of overgrown brush around property. Outside area was just ok, and the patio with the grill and table were very favorable. The rooms were "adequate". Keep in mind that was the best that 4 fishermen could come up with and they aren't very picky. The host was very good about answering any questions and responded immediately on the two emails I sent. We are used to small town, but this town is extra mini small. Went looking for dinner on last night (Wednesday) but no restaurants were open, but they did find a bar that served food, so that was fine. Lots of "local color" at the bar which they found fun. The guys said the house was "ok" and met their needs with 4 separate bedrooms, but that they wouldn't be comfortable endorsing it to anyone else.

Golden Girls Weekend
Recently returned from our yearly girls trip.
This year we chose the Charming Cottage in Stockholm, Wi.
The drive there does not disappoint: hilly and winding road, amid trees, cliffs and beautiful Lake Pepin.
The cottage is easy to find, right on main road through Stockholm; very near the many cute shops and eating establishments.
The cottage itself is charming, well equipped to host several.
We did find areas needing attention; some immediate, some FYI:
Pantry light crackles and sizzles when you try to turn it on.
Light in refrigerator needs to be replaced.
Main floor bathroom bath tub drain is extremely slow.
Main floor bathroom floor was very dirty.
A shirt and mini sanitary pad was found under the dresser in the main floor bedroom. (Did not belong to us)
More or stronger light in dining room.
Extra sheets and blankets would have been a plus.
What we did appreciate was the number of power strips available-very handy for CPaps and phone chargers.
The patio is lovely: it made for a great place to gather with a cup of coffee or cocktail. Plenty of comfortable seating.
Despite the concerns voiced, once addressed we would give staying here two thumbs up.
We were generally pleased with our stay. Would point out to other senior citizens or those with limited mobility that the only access is through the front door with private parking in the rear of the building making loading and unloading luggage, purchases, and supplies a real challenge to get in. To be fair, there is some on street parking right in front of the cottage, but there is no assurance they will be available to occupants. Most rentals have coffee and condiments on hand…there was not enough coffee in the container to make even one pot. There were plenty of pots, pans, dishes, cups, etc provided. Lots of games on the premises too. It would have been helpful to have written out directions for using the TV…this group of senior citizens is not very technically savvy! Pat was very helpful and even stopped to see if we needed the heat turned on as it was turning cool. Cute little town with some interesting shops and restaurants. The trains run frequently during the night on the very nearby railroad tracks and occasionally woke us up…I think we didn’t notice as much after the first night and considered it part of the ambiance! We were all overall satisfied with our weekend stay.
The house met our needs for the weekend and the owner communication was great! The location is wonderful for exploring Stockholm and we loved the coffee shop right across the street! The only con is how often the trains ran right behind the house, especially at night, but if you stay in downtown Stockholm you get the trains. It’s just good to be prepared for that.
