With the continuation of the COVID-19 outbreak, travelling now comes with more challenges than in the past. Keep in mind these valuable tips before boarding your plane to Stewart Island:

• Before locking in your flight, find out if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your origin and destination. Keep informed with the latest updates by reviewing government and travel websites.
• Wear a face mask during airport screening. A TSA officer will ask you to lower your mask temporarily for identification purposes.
• Do not hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA employee. Rather, you should position the pass on the reader and then hold it up so the agent can inspect it.
• TSA is now permitting passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will have to be removed from your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• Empty your personal items from your pockets, such as your phone and wallet, and place them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will minimize handling during the screening process.
• Separate any food you're carrying for screening. Placing it in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA agent to handle and inspect your belongings.
