Great location and house for large family. Loved having the pontoon boat and playing on the lake. Close to great hikes. Perfect place for a large family.
My friend is a total outdoors, mountains, lakes, hiking enthusiast. This was the perfect bachelorette excursion with 10 friends. Plenty of sleeping accommodations, beautiful deck and large indoor areas. Access to water, floating dock and many other water toys including the pontoon boat we rented. BEAUTIFUL place, highly recommend. I may be bringing my family back here.
We sought a special place to celebrate a milestone birthday weekend with family, and this home exceeded all expectations: super spacious, comfortable and well-appointed. There are some unique aspects to being "off the grid" that can be a bit tricky (e.g. heat provided by gas wall units and fireplace), but the property manager was immediately responsive to help us understand/solve the minor challenges we had. The location is a bit remote, but SPECTACULAR and very convenient to the sights and hikes around Mt. St. Helens.
We had a family reunion with three generations present. The Lodge was ideally set up for all of us. There were enough things to do to keep everybody connected and entertained. Two of the days there were cold and cloudy. The Lodge was cozy and there was ample fire-wood to provide warmth and ambience. The kitchen was so well stocked that we were able to enjoy some elaborate meals for the whole family.
It was incredibly peaceful and there was only one other boat out on the water in all three days we were there. The location is beautiful.
We had no problems navigating the drive-way and there was ample parking space for our five vehicles.
We would highly recommend this place.

The stay
Fantastic lodge and location with beautiful view. However, it was hard to find despite directions. Also, the generator is too complicated to get get going. we had two engineers in our group who finally figured it out after some calls to property manager. For people who have been traveling a long distance and arrive to deal with a generator issue is burdensome and we would recommend some alternatives. We sat in the dark for several hours waiting for generator to prune,
A quick trip from Portland to this lovely cabin right on the water! The cabin and setting is spectacular. The lake is big and beautiful -- we expected a "party lake" vibe but we had the place to ourselves. It was serene. All friends agreed we must make an annual trip out of it.
We spent most of our days on the floating docks and SUPs provided by the hosts, but when it was time to break away from splashing around and make a meal the kitchen had everything we needed.
A few tips after the stay:
Bring a lot of ice and use the large drink cooler, the less you open the fridge the better
There are no window coverings (by design), which means the first thing you see in the morning is the lake. There are some sleep masks provided but I recommend bringing your own.
Lastly, always remove sunglasses before jumping in the water
This log cabin is a sturdy work of art! Incredibly beautiful with thoughtful design. The bedrooms were a generous size and the areas for gathering in the upper loft and family room were perfect for playing games and reading. The location of the cabin is awesome with its own cove. We brought our own boat and docked it onto an anchored buoy and tree stump. Access to the boat was tricky as the floating dock required to be pumped up for each use, but the family all agreed it was worth it. The driveway had too many hairpin turns that we were required to pay for our trailer and towing vehicle to stay parked at the Forest Campground where the boat launch was located. It worked out just fine since we took two cars, we recommend others do the same if they bring their own boat. The younger adults loved the paddle boards and we all loved the view from the patio! Absolutely stunning! There’s even a waterfall on the opposite side of the lake! We highly recommend this property for those who want a true log cabin experience. It’s the perfect location for fun times on the lake and a day trip to the Ape Caves, Lava Canyon Trail, and Lahar Viewpoint of Mt. St. Helen’s.
Beautiful lakeside cabin on large acreage that easily accommodated our family gathering (12 guests). Closest neighbors cannot be seen nor heard. It felt like we had the entire lake to ourselves. It can be tricky locating the driveway as there isn’t really any signage or indication you’ve reached the property, but I was able to locate the property ahead of time using Google satellite imagery in combination with the directions provided by the property manager. Kitchen is well stocked. Pictures on the inside of the cabinets showing where everything goes is a nice touch. The path down to the shore is steep as advertised, but we all managed just fine and the kids enjoyed the water trampoline while the adults enjoyed kayaking and the SUPs. There are no drapes or curtains, so one should pack sleep masks if they intend to sleep in as first light comes early in summer. On the last day of our stay, we were somehow locked out of the kitchen pantry (we still don’t know how that happened), but the property manager was extremely responsive and was able to resolve the issue. The property manager was also helpful in responding to all my questions prior to our arrival. Bedrooms were great. Kids loved the bunks. We had a wonderful time.
We had a wonderful stay at the lake. Amazing hiking at Lewis river, cruised the lake and fished on the pontoon boat, swam under the waterfall, and just relaxed on the decks. It very comfortably fit our group of 11. Thank you for sharing this lovely property with us!
An awesome place; clean and exactly as described! Jean, the property manager, was very communicative and responsive. Big family meals and a grand time at the lake. Loved the access to hiking trails and Ape Cave is a must do for the adventurous. We had a fantastic time.
This house is stunning. We spent 3 nights with 9 people in early August. Our first full day was sunny and warm so we played on the lake the whole day. The water toys were great fun. The next day rained all day so it was cards, books and lots of cooking. We did not see another person the entire time. Magical, highly recommend and hope to return.
The house was fabulous and spacious! We had 11 family members and it was totally stocked with everything we needed. We felt right at home and enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and great porch deck and scenery right out the back door. The lake was beautiful and we took the canoe to the waterfall! Very calm and peaceful and no problems! Greatest vacation yet for us who have never traveled to the Pacific Northwest! Thank you!
We stayed at the lodge and had a wonderful time. April showers kept us in most of the time so we enjoyed the expanse of this lovely home! Plenty of room.
This house was a wonderful location for 2 families with kids plus grandparents. Plenty of room for everyone and the views are beautiful. The house is very well appointed overall and we could find everything we needed. The communication from the property manager was excellent overall.
Beautiful secluded property with lots of nearby hiking and additional lakes. This was our second summer of making it our last summer hurrah at the reservoir.
Our stay was amazing! The environment was serene and relaxing. Lodge was outstanding, had everything we needed for cooking and enjoying the lake. It might be helpful for future guests to know that you have a ladder you need to be able to navigate to get to the water and would highly recommend an all wheel drive to get to the property.
