You should not book this hotel. The owner is a scam. I turned up at 16.00. It was not possible to check in at that time, so I went to spend the day in the city. I came back at 21.52 in the night. It was still not possible to check in, so I called the owner. He didnt pick up the phone, but sent a text message. I sent a message back, explaining that I needed to check in. After three text messages he just stopped answering. I sent him several messages explaining I had to find another hotel if he wouldnt let me check in - still no answer. In the end I had to find an expensive last minute hotel. The room was prepaid, I still havent gotten my money back. I met two other people outside the hotel. They were not allowed to check in either, the owner stopped answering them as well. In the end they had to find another hotel. They had also prepaid. If you dont like getting robbed from a hotel that deserves to go bankrupt, I would advise not booking this hotel. Its cheap, but you might have to pay for an expensive alternative, last minute. From what I hear this happens regularly at this hotel.
I booked this hotel very early. However, when I check in, there is no one answer the door, but the light in the house is open.
I called the owner of the house. He responded me that he had a fever and cannot come to the hotel to let me check in. he also said that every day there are a lot of guests to live in and he didn't remember who would check in on which day. And he asked me to find another hotel to live in. The next day he will refund me the money.
I don't think this is my fault. firstly, it is the owner''s mistake/ careless that he forgot me check in today. if he is ill, why he cannot ask someone else to help me check in? why he cannot leave the key in the mailbox??
secondly, it is his reason that causes me have no where to live in at 10pm in the night. I asked him at least to provide another place to live in, but he refused. he even asked me to check another
hotel to live. God it's already 10 pm and he asked me to find another place to live in ??!!
Through the conversation between the owner, I find that he is neither professional nor responsible.I feel really angry about this experience.
Guest House Centrum 8 was indeed a very central accomodation with good value for money. The trouble was checking in - which was difficult as the manager had to be reached by telephone between 20 to 23 o'clock and was busy in a meeting at this point of time. To be waiting outside in heavy rain and wind (typical Stavanger) was no pleasure.
Great place to stay, super accommodating people, but the heating in the bedrooms did not work so well and there was only a thin duvet and no extra blankets, so we did not sleep so well because it was cold. But lovely place. Also we could not work out how to turn of the bathroom light!
