Relaxation at its best
Love the cabin. Comfy and very well kept. The area is quiet. After a long day hiking relaxing at the hot tub to sounds of nature was the best. Highly recommend it.

Beautiful secluded sanctuary
We really loved our stay at the cabin. The cabin was clean, well equipped and in a lovely location near trails. The campfire outside was a huge bonus for us to enjoy the outdoors and eat some s’mores.

Beautiful and Quiet
The property had beautiful views and everything that we needed for a quiet getaway. We enjoyed the hot tub and spent hours on the wraparound porch. It's close enough to Standardsville for a quick grocery run, if needed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin. The location is perfect and feels secluded and tranquil. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck and spent hours there enjoying the breeze, dappled sunshine, and the sound of rustling leaves. The kitchen was well equipped, and we were able to make breakfasts and dinners each day without issue. The hot tub was lovely!

Cute and Clean
This cabin is adorable and it is obvious the owners take pride and care with special amenities for their guests. But we were looking to get away and let our dog roam free on ten secluded acres and it just isn't secluded. The dirt road was surprisingly busy and there is construction going on nearby so there were power tools buzzing during our stay (no fault of the owners). It also would have been nice to have river access from the cabin and not have to walk on the road to get there. But the hot tub was lovely and the property is beautiful - beds were also very comfortable and kitchen well appointed.

The cabin was appointed with detail and care. We felt at home right away including our dog, although respectful. The hot tub was super! Private location, yet fairly close to many things to do. We loved it and hope to be back.

Fantastic cabin to get away from it all.
We really enjoyed our stay in the cabin. It was super clean and well stocked with anything we needed for a relaxing vacation away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Very nice amenities and we really enjoyed the hot tub after long day of hiking. Just perfect!!

Lovely cabin near Shenandoah National Park
My husband and I have been renting vacation homes for over 10 years now. He and I both agreed that this cabin had more extras and thoughtful items provided for us than at any other place we have stayed. The decor is very nice, the surroundings are quiet and the cabin is close to great hiking spots. I don’t think you can go wrong with dinner at the Lafayette Inn, the food is wonderful. My husband and I were looking for somewhere to go to celebrate our anniversary. Life is crazy, so we wanted something kind of close to home. The Secluded River Cottage was exactly what we needed. It's such a cute little place and it has a hot tub! The little, extra things were great, too. We would definitely stay again. We both had a fantastic time and loved our stay. However, a few things we noticed that didn't change our opinion, but might be helpful to others ... 1. The cottage is small. Super cute, but small. If you are reserving for a group of 4, make sure you really like the other people or don't plan to spend a ton of time together in the cottage. It was just the 2 of us, so we had no problems, but thought the closeness of a group of 4 might have been too much for us. 2. The beds are memory foam. Hubby loved it, I did not. Everyone has their own idea of a perfect bed. 3. Water pressure in the bathroom wasn't the greatest, but fine in the kitchen. It took a second to warm up, but we had plenty of hot water. 4. The living room furniture was very comfortable, however, would have loved to have a 'regular' love seat/couch as the double recliner didn't really allow for snuggling up for a movie. Lastly, as a suggestion to the owners ... We greatly appreciated the welcome bottle of wine; it was a nice addition to our celebration. However, maybe consider offering a bottle from one of the local wineries. Sharing your recommendations would likely be appreciated by most.

Mental health retreat
I booked this cabin to get away from people, electronics, and worries for a few days to help recharge my social battery. It was fantastic! I never watched the TV, the WiFi was bad (which is a good thing), and the property offered everything I could ask for. I brought wood to burn, thinking it wouldn't be supplied, there's an abundance of dry wood for the fire pit already there. The place had cooking utensils, spices and more. They really made it an enjoyable experience and I thank them greatly.

As the Name Implies…
The Secluded River Cabin was awesome! Loved the decor details for the fall. Very close to all we love—hiking in the Shenandoah National Park, fishing, exploring the town and restaurants. Quiet, relaxing weekend!! Great amenities including satellite TV, wi-fi, comfortable furniture, fire pit (wood included!) and the wonderful hot tub! Much love for the Secluded River Cottage
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Secluded River Cottage. I know its hard to imagine, but the pictures don't even really do this place justice. Its such a cute cabin! There are so many little extra touches around the cabin that make everything so nice and so convenient as well. We also loved using the hot tub after long hikes. The location of the cabin is perfect. Perfect for hiking the Shenandoah National Park and there are many wineries/breweries around. We also found a few great restaurants as well in the area! The owners do such a great job communicating great recommendations. I would love to come back and stay again one day!

If I had to give 1 word to describe
That word would be PERFECT. It was everything and more than the description. From the inviting manicured walkway to the cabin, to opening a VERY clean cabin. It had that great rustic outdoor cabin feel that my husband loved and all the amenities that I loved. After hiking, a great soak in the hot tub and then smores by the firepit. What a way to celebrate our 15th anniversary and his 62nd birthday!! We brought our 2 pups along who enjoyed our stay as well. The bottle of wine that welcomed us as we entered was a special touch to kick start our celebration. Can't say enough good things and would stay here again. Thanks for great memories!!

Lovely getaway with great hiking nearby
We really enjoyed our stay here. The place was spotless when we arrived and there was a nice bottle of wine and some snacks as a pleasant way of greeting us. We were fairly close to some beautiful hiking trails(less than an hour) and there were restaurants within 15 minutes although we mostly cooked at the property. The place is small but nicely arranged. It is a loft so while there are walls surrounding the bedrooms it is open on top and sound does travel! We really enjoyed the stay and will be coming back to this beautiful state sometime in the future.

The property was much smaller than the pictures indicated and thus over priced.
I specifically wanted a large, open plan, light filled cabin and I was willing to pay the appropriate price for that. I looked at the photos of this property and felt that it fulfilled my wishes. When I arrived and walked in, I thought I must be in the wrong place so checked the booking again and was sad to know that this was it! It was so small and dark! The photos made the cabin appear to be what I wanted but it was not even close in reality. I paid SO much money for 2 nights! It is not what they are charging. The beds are only double sized beds and the bedrooms are so tiny that the bed takes up all the room. We had the most uncomfortable sleep on the bed in the 'serenity' room as it slopes into the middle and all the springs can be felt. I was so sad and disappointed as it was a gift for my husbands birthday! The communication, cleanliness, location, facilities, extra items left for our convenience were great. The price needs to reflect the property and the photos need to be accurate. So so disappointed.

Great getaway!
This is a wonderful secluded cabin! The cabin is very well kept and everything is clean. The place is well stocked with dishes and kitchen accessories. There are also games and movies available. The owners even have baskets with snacks and toiletries that you can use if needed. The hot tub was amazing and very clean. It is also private and surrounded by trees. You can hear the river at the bottom of the hill and it is so relaxing. Would definitely go back!

Absolutely Charming!
What a wonderful property. Pictures in this case, although amazing, do not do this property justice. It has such a cozy ambiance when you walk through the door and the owners have thought of everything! The small welcoming touches were amazing - pair of socks on the bed, welcome wine, Valentine's candy, wood for the fireplace and fire pit. The property was immaculate, the beds and linens were so comfortable, the game closet was well-stocked and the surroundings were so peaceful. I'd go back tomorrow. The hot tub was a great size, new and clean! These owners treat this more as if each visit is a hosting of friends. We just did a VRBO in Park City over New Years and this experience was by far superior in every way. It's clear the owners are thinking of their guests and their experience. We had such a relaxing family stay. Thanks for sharing such a great retreat!
