About this property
Secluded 25 acre Spacious Hudson Valley Retreat -Mins to Rhinebeck, Chef Kitchen
A rare kind of quiet. This 4,400 sq ft home sits on 25 private acres wrapped around its own 3-acre pond — water views from the deck, the glass-roofed sunroom, and half the rooms in the house. House has a chef's kitchen, along with five bedrooms and three newly renovated baths give a big family or two the space to spread out, and Rhinebeck, the CIA, the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt estates, and the Hudson River are all just minutes away. Enjoy almost 2 miles of walking, snowshoe, or cross-country skiing on the trails throughout the property.
The Space
The first thing guests notice here is the stillness. The house sits well back from a quiet country lane, surrounded by its own woods, meadow, and water — twenty-five acres where the loudest thing you’ll hear is the wind moving across the pond. Inside, there’s room for everyone. At 4,400 square feet across three finished levels, the house comfortably sleeps fifteen: five bedrooms — two kings, two queens, and a kids’ favorite with a full bed and three twins — plus a first-floor office with a pull-out sofa for anyone who prefers to skip the stairs, and another pull-out in the finished lower level. The three full baths were just renovated top to bottom with high-end, tasteful finishes — frameless glass showers, designer tile, matte-black fixtures.
The heart of the house is the sunroom — fully heated and cooled, with glass overhead and on three sides. From one chair you can take in a wide sweep of the property and the pond: morning mist on the water in summer, the full sweep of color in October, snow falling over the glass in January. It’s the room guests remember.
When the evenings cool down, you have your pick of fires: the wood-burning fireplace in the big living room, or the stone firepit outside at the wood’s edge, firewood stacked and ready. The formal dining room seats your whole group under the chandelier, the kitchen is equipped with stainless steel appliances, and the finished lower level is the fun floor — a huge sectional in front of the large-screen TV, a billiards table, and a Peloton Tread.
Off the main level, the 500+ square foot deck runs along the pond side of the house — grill going, dinner outside, water below. There’s a hammock waiting near the shore, walking paths that wind 1.3 miles through the property’s own woods, a basketball hoop in the driveway, and the pond itself — fish from the small dock, paddle out if you like (boats available), or just sit by the water and let the day go slow.
The house has a whole-house generator, fast Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, and dedicated space to work remotely if the trip runs long.
The Setting
Total peace — without being far from anything. The property is deeply secluded; apart from one distant rooftop visible through bare trees in winter, it’s just you, the woods, and the water. Yet within a short drive you have some of the Hudson Valley’s best: • Rhinebeck — boutiques, farmers market, and one of the region’s great small dining towns (10 mins) • The Culinary Institute of America and its public restaurants (15 min) • Home of FDR, the Presidential Library, and the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park (10–15 min) • Mills-Norrie State Park — riverfront hiking trails, a marina, and the Mills Mansion, literally across the road • The Walkway Over the Hudson, Beacon, Kingston, Woodstock, and Hudson for easy day trips • Apple orchards, wineries, breweries, and cider houses in every direction — this is harvest country • Skiing in winter: Catamount and Ski Butternut to the east, Hunter, Windham, and Belleayre in the Catskills • Amtrak at Rhinecliff (15 min) — about 90 minutes to NYC, so a car-free escape from the city is entirely doable
Four seasons, four different trips: foliage and festivals in fall, skiing and fireside weekends in winter, gardens and river days in spring and summer.
Guest Access The entire home and property are yours — all three levels, the deck, sunroom, firepit, trails, and pond frontage.
