I am not an overly picky hotel guest, and I come from a Croatian background, so I normally cut hotels some slack in Croatia, knowing that they are not quite what I would expect in North America, but I couldn't wait to leave this horrible relic from the old communist days of tourism. "Hotel Life Palace is fantastic! Great location: right in the middle of Old Town, which is charming, fully pedestrianized, and easily walkable. (No cars in Old Town but it’s small enough that it’s easy to carry/roll your suitcase to you car, taxi, or bus.) There are bistros, snack-shops, cafes, and full restaurants right out the front door or around the corner. But a word of warning: for breakfast, you’ll want to stay in the hotel—every morning, there’s a great selection of treats and mainstays. The hotel itself is super-comfortable—you get the visual delight of a historic palace combined with modern comforts. And, finally, the staff is amazing—efficient, attentive, and super-nice."
