The bedroom and ennsuite were spotlessly clean. It is ideally located just a short walk to Port Erin with access to public transport, which we needed. "Good location on the Central Promenade not too far from the city attractions. You can get a direct bus both to the ferry terminal and to the airport. Good variety of breakfast to choose from both hot and cold If you fancy something traditional you can order the Manx kipper. There are in house bar and restaurant facilities. Both the piano bar and the brassiere serve food. The hotel does host events such as wedding receptions and gala evenings for none residents. Whilst it good business for the hotel, as a guest you feel as though your experience had been invaded by outsiders especially when I couldn’t find anywhere to sit or relax or for that matter get to the bar in the first place. For some reason in the reception and bar area they play the same “lounge music” tune over and over and over again on a continuous loop. As a customer it gets annoying but it’s the staff I feel sorry for as they must have that tune drilled into their heads by now. There are also a lot of stairs at the hotel. If you have mobility issues steps may pose a problem but they do seem to have step free options. The room was ok. Comfy bed, a radiator if you got cold and enough wardrobe and drawer storage facilities. The TV seemed to lack certain channels, one of which I watch regularly but you don’t go away to watch TV. There was a bit of a noise problem, with banging from other rooms very early in the morning but that’s common in a lot of hotels."

"Great location right opposite the beach. Plenty of parking onsite and around the hotel. Amenities were good and we enjoyed the entertainment evening, something rarely seen on IOM. Comfy room and friendly staff."

"I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Douglas. The staff are so friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble. My room was lovely overlooking the sea with everything you could need. I arrived early and my room was ready to check in breakfast was also first class. I would definitely stay here again."

"We had an Atrium room which was quite modern and big. It had a 2 people sofa and lovely comfy chairs on the large balcony. There's was a good variety of hot drinks and a kettle on the room. The staff were very friendly on check-in and checkout and every time we entered the hotel. The breakfast was excellent, a good choice, good food and it was hot. We had a lovely few days here and loved the Isle of Man using all the public transport. The only problem was getting a table in the Asian restaurant. They didn't like it when I was unhappy with a table at 8. We don't like eating late so went elsewhere. We didn't try the encore restaurant in the hotel as it had very poor reviews"

"Nico at check in was helpful. The hotel is very cool, different than any I have stayed in. The room we had with a 3 year old was perfect because it had a bedroom and separate living room. The location is great. Washing machine is essential. The kitchen in the room was a great size. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay here again."

"We had our honeymoon on the island in 1996, and just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary by returning. The staff at the Halvard was so nice, and so accommodating. The room was much larger than most in old Victorian hotels. It was also very quiet, I had a very nice updated bathroom and had an incredible view of Douglas Harbor. The breakfast was a nice combination of buffet and custom order, and we also ate dinner there the first night, and it was excellent. Would highly recommend staying at the Halvard."
