"Entering the home, you are instantly greeted with a view through the glass doors to the pool and the Caribbean Sea beyond. The family room is bright and spacious, leading either to the master bedroom and bath to the left, the two remaining bedrooms and bath to the right, or the indoor dining and kitchen area. Continuing through the well-appointed kitchen is a second access to the covered patio and large pool area. The entire home is clean and well-maintained. We did not utilize additional housekeeping services during our time here, but the option is there for you if you choose. While air conditioning is not always needed on the island due to constant trade winds, it was a welcome relief, especially during sleep, and the units worked flawlessly. The propane grill situated on the patio got heavy use during our stay and is a great way to keep added heat out of the kitchen during meals. As perfect as the home is, the patio and pool area are where it is all at! From the pool, you get 180 degrees of private Caribbean sea views looking North towards Woodland Beach and South to Old Town. An occasional passing sailboat or yacht only adds to the vibe. The large pool offered much-needed relief from the hours spent staring into the sea.We had zero issues during our 14-day stay and would not hesitate to stay at Villa Kurtena in the future and to recommend it to our family and friends. Thank you, David, for sharing your home with us."
"Chez Mango is a curious place — part hotel, part ongoing experiment. It’s made up of small cottages and a larger building, the Royal Villa, which sits nearby but not quite on the same property. Think of it less as a resort and more as a collection of spaces still finding their rhythm.
Let’s start with the good. I stayed in the Royal Villa, in a very large suite with four bedrooms. It was spotless, the air conditioning was flawless, and the surrounding setting is genuinely lovely. Gary, the host, was exceptionally responsive and arranged airport transfers that were perfectly on time. For my purposes — a clean, comfortable place to sleep — Chez Mango delivered, and at a very reasonable price. I would happily stay again under similar circumstances.
That said, travelers should know what to expect. As of November 2025, the villa remains very much a construction site. Building materials are scattered across the property — in the tennis court, around the pool, even along the paths. Work noise continues through the day, and the pool area, while attractive, has unfinished railings and an empty bar space that’s best avoided. The steep driveway and cluttered staircases make access challenging; this is not a suitable choice for guests with mobility issues or for children.
The suite itself also has quirks. Though it sleeps seven, there’s only one bathroom. The shower window lacks any covering and faces a public area, and while there’s an iron, there’s no hairdryer."
"family stayed and we all had our own individual space, the villa was perfect, the view over looking the ocean was superb if there was any criticism it’s just in need of a little upgrade but that doesn’t stop me giving it a 5* rating"

8/10 Good
"The property itself is amazing. The three bedrooms all have on suites and are all very private. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with cooking gear. The outdoor living area with the couch, the TV, the pool, is perfect, the pictures do not do it justice. The local iguanas that live on the property are very cool.Getting to the property on the first night was super easy, Thomas picked us up at the airport, took us to the best grocery store on the island to get some stuff, and then drove us to the property where our rental car was waiting. One small quirk, a fish dinner is advertised to be there waiting for you, we were surprised to see that it was instead jerk chicken. My aunt and I liked it, but my mom does not eat dark meat chicken, so the flip from fish to chicken was a disappointment. We stayed for 2 weeks and a cleaner was supposed to come by and do basic cleaning once on the Thursday one week after we arrived. The cleaner never showed up, so we were left to do the bedding laundry ourselves. We also lost hot water as the hot water on demand heater failed. We were left with cold showers and cold water to do the dishes. There was a replacement hot water heater on site, but a natural gas unit was ordered instead of propane, so we went with no hot water for the last 10 days or so of the trip.Other than those things though, as mentioned the property is amazing, the appliances work well, the pool is extremely well maintained."
