"We got the place based on price, and were only passing through for the night. We checked in just fine. Nothing too exciting to report there. The elevator smelled like cigarette smoke, but it was quick and fast. There was music blasting from the pool area, but as soon as we got into our room, it was quiet. I think that was one of the very few positive things about this place: it was really really quiet once you got into the room. The room itself was not swept up. There were some paper shredding on the ground along with a couple finger nails that obviously missed the garbage. The floor was dark so it was really visible that it wasn’t cleaned up. The whole room was just really outdated and dark. The bathroom could’ve been cleaner, but we were tired and as long as we didn’t find any signs of bedbugs (or really any bugs for that matter), we were fine for just the few hours we needed to sleep."

"Parking was easy. Staff were nice. Room was clean and bed comfortable. The room itself has seen better days- door to room had rust holes at the bottom, the AC unit had stains on it. Haur dryer mount was coming loose."

"Hotel is dated but not bad. Staff was nice friendly lady at the front counter. Weird smell in the lobby but not too bad. Took the elevator to the second floor where our room was and when the doors opened I was taken back by the suffocating smell of cigarettes and fried chicken. If we stayed two nights I probably would have picked up a can of febreeze and left it for them. Our room wasn’t bad, the couch was taped together and there was still a stale chicken/cigarette smell but it was manageable. Location was nice feels like a safe area. It’s a cheap hotel and you get what you pay for. Didn’t see a breakfast when we checked out."

"Sonesta sold our room after I reserved and confirmed our room earlier that day. I told them exactly what time we would arrive, and they assured me all was good to go. When I arrived, rude man on phone wouldn’t open door and talked to me through phone (didn’t even see a face) and said manager quit, and when I asked name of person on phone he hung up on me, wouldn’t even open the door for me (even though I called back asking to talk to him about options) and called not one but THREE POLICE squad cars saying I threatened him. What I said was my husband was going to come talk on the phone because I was confused. The Olmstead Police were fantastic realizing we were just normal people confused by driving 7 hours and not having a place to stay late at night. Police pointed out a better hotel for us to stay next door. That hotel next store is top notch, took our honor points number, laughed at the cops being called, and booked us into a nice room immediately paying less than I was at Sonesta. We were not the only one this happened to, as a guest from new hotel told us. Expedia ensured a refund and apologized for our experience. No apology from Sonesta for calling 3 police squads on me. I can laugh at it now, but this goes down in books as official worst hotel experience. "
