The house had everything you would need; paper towels, cooking seasoning, soap, coolers for the beach, beach chairs, towels, everything! And a 10 minute walk to downtown Cruz Bay.
Perfect place to stay! You can easily catch a cab to get home, but steep walk to town is fine. Amazing host and very accommodating and easy to communicate with. They let us drop our bags before check in! Clean space, and AC works great. Lovely outside deck with a table to enjoy the outdoors- even saw hummingbirds! The water pressure is great, but only hot for a few minutes, but expected on an island. Would stay again!
This is a great place to stay. It's not a fancy resort, Just a two bedroom apartment. If your going to spend your time exploring the island and the waters around then save your money and stay here, not an expensive resort!
Mr. Prince property was spotless, clean china, neat rooms, cleaners, coffee filters and AC, everything was just right and Mr Prince was very friends and accommodating. Location close to Cruz Bay, scenic view. I would higher recommend his VRBO.
Mr. Prince is a pleasure. The property is exactly as described. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. If you’re going to be out all day exploring beautiful St John, this is a great affordable place to stay. We would stay again.
Home away from home. All of our essentials were covered. Plenty of clean soft towels, a clean home, and a welcoming place to come back to at the end of the day.
We enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely return to this rental! The owner is very sweet, left fresh flowers, a fruit bowl, and a couple gallons of water. We had hot water, A/C, and a super convenient location just a couple of minutes from downtown Cruz Bay. We will probably be back at some point! :)
We loved our stay at this convenient 2 bedroom apartment. We were able to eat our breakfasts at the apartment and make lunches to eat when we were out hiking. We ate at restaurants most evenings. The apartment was clean, and it was the perfect size as our base for hiking, exploring the ruins, and enjoying the beaches. St. John is a beautiful island. Thank you, Mr. Prince, for your hospitality and for making us feel comfortable and welcome.

The address is 13C Contant road. It is one half of the upper floor of the building. New construction going up in the neighboring property.
Expedia's map has the location on the wrong part of Contant road.
The road is quite steep. Backing out and turning around takes practice.
Otherwise, the facility is good & clean. We appreciated the cooler, the beach towels and chairs, etc..
mr prince was lovely and available. the apartment was roomier than we expected, had plenty of closet and dresser space, bathroom was clean, plenty of bath and beach towels, beach chairs, cooler, noodles, a grill, stove.. everything you could need. there was even bug spray and dish soap, and mr prince left us some drinking water in case we hadnt gotten any yet. it was dark when we arrived, and he met us at the gas station so we could follow him to the apartment. my kids loved the view. thanks so much, mr prince!

Disappointed….
Prince was amazing. He picked us up and also brought us to the grocery store! The communication with the owner was great.
As for the place, we were disappointed. The pictures did not show certain details. The shower was moldy and there was rust around the drain. The outside porch was dirty and the all of the beach chairs and floats were not usable. The grill was immaculate!
I still think it should have been much cleaner and the tub should have been in the pictures.
I would not stay there again unless changes were made

Everything you need!! Beds were comfortable. Full kitchen! Short walk to Cruz Bay and taxis- no need to get a car. The kitchen cabinets were old, some tile in the bathroom was broken, otherwise in excellent condition. If these small things were fixed, I bet Mr. Prince could get 500- 800 a night, which is typical for Cruz Bay! There was an air conditioning unit in both bedrooms and a natural breeze that came in from the kitchen. Stayed nice and cool. If needed, this duplex comes with a generator.
I felt very safe in the neighborhood. Another home on the street had 10-15 old cars in the front yard- so a bit like a junkyard.
Mr. Prince could not be a kinder man!! Always ready to answer calls and transport us from the ferry !
If granite countertops, luxury bathroom tiles, and a neighborhood with an HOA are important to you; please pay 800 a night elsewhere.
Otherwise, it’s a diamond in the rough and I advise to book here!
Our family (a couple and a 1-year old) stayed for one week at Mr Prince's house on Contant hill, and we had our best time ever in St John. The property is a two bedroom (one with a queen bed and one with two singles), and a large living room/kitchen with a balcony overlooking the back side of Cruz Bay, i.e. the other small bay where the car ferry docks. The flat is very clean and has everything you need to be in your home away from home: effective AC, everything you need to cook meals, wi-fi, linen, towels, soaps, even mosquito repellent and sunscreen. It is perched almost at the top of Contant hill, which means you have to negotiate a 200m hill with 20% grade, but that's perfectly feasible, day and night (it's well it and safe), if you're just a little fit. For context, we only used a taxi the first and last day because we had large bags and baby stuff, but went up and down fine during the whole week. Immediately down the hill, there's a mall with a well-stocked supermarket, pharmacy, and a coffee/gelato place that was our favorite breakfast spot, Giovanni's. Downtown Cruz Bay is a 15 minutes walk with no other significant hills other than the one by the house. The closest beaches are either Cruz Bay itself (with a lineup of restaurants right on the sand), or the Westin in the opposite direction, which we walked to every evening with the baby - one mile downhill, and you can take the taxi on the way back which will drop you at the bottom of the hill.Highly recommended!
The description of the property was not fully accurate. Somewhere in a review I read that it was on a hill but it did not mention how steep the hill was. It was so steep that we had to drive up the road, on a corner, to turn around in order to drive down the road. There was also a junk yard of cars at the bottom of the hill and a vacant/ abandoned house next door. We also passed 4 big open trucks of trash or recyclables at the bottom of the hill, on the side of the road. The living area was clean and comfortable with a tv, cable and internet, but the tub needed new caulking, the rubber bath mat was moldy and the tub was clogged when we took showers. The kitchen could use a new fry pan. The one there was rusted. After we picked up our rental car I called our contact person. She tried to give me directions but I had no idea what she was talking about. I suggested she find us and direct us to the location, where she gave us the key. It was generally quiet though, the air conditioning was adequate, and the host left us a nice basket of fruit. This is the first time I tried VRBO and I will be more careful in the future. One suggestion would be to have a more detailed map of where property is and surrounding area.
Awesome location. Host was very friendly and informative. Great views. Kitchen had all the things needed to make a good meal after purchasing your own food from the local grocery which was a 5 minute drive away. Looking forward to booking again next year.
Had a great stay. If you are looking for a quiet place away from the town's traffic noise, this is it. Great views of the town below from the terrace/balcony and kitchen. The modern and quiet air conditioning system in the kitchen was enough to cool the whole apartment, but if you need some extra cold, the bedrooms have their own AC. It was a pleasure to chat with the owner and learn about the island and its history.
Our family of four enjoyed our stay at Mr. Prince’s place. He was a great, responsive host. The house was clean, comfortable and well located. We could walk to Cruz Bay restaurants in about 15 minutes. Thanks to Mr. Prince for a great stay!
