Weekend at the Cabin

We had a group of 5 adults looking to get away from the city for a weekend, and the cabin in the woods was perfect. Secluded in the WV mountains, it offers beautiful scenery and a peaceful lake to kick back and relax. There's a grill and a hot tub on the deck of the cabin, so we spent most of our time outside grilling, bathing, and enjoying.

Peaceful escape from the city

We had a group of five adults looking to escape the city and the cabin in the woods was perfect. The hosts were excellent, the house size is perfect, and the lake is picturesque. As some have commented, the lake is a bit of a walk (~1 mile from the property) so be prepared for that, and the living quarters are cozy. All things considered, though, this place (and the hosts) are tough to beat.

Not worth the $$$

My husband and I were looking to get away from it all as we do every year. Our budget is typically about $200-$250/night. We usually get a really nice cabin for this price. We paid this much for Cabin in the Woods and were pretty disappointed. The pictures are not accurate, using a wide angle lens to give the cabin a much bigger look than it actually is. The heater was on the other side of the house from the one main bedroom, so we froze through the night. It also made a horrible squealing sound through the night. The bed itself was hard as a rock. We did not check out the lofts at all. We also never knew whether we had access to anything in the basement. The deck was quite lovely, as was the hot tub and fire pit. However, we could not sleep on the bed, freezing and trying to ignore the heater-squeal, so we left after our first night. Perhaps the cabin is better in the warmer months, when you can sit outside and enjoy the lake. Unfortunately, we spent a lot of money on a place that was not worth it to us.

Dirty and not as expected.

We spent the first 2 hours cleaning after finding roaches in the place and dirt on the fridge. I messaged the owner and only heard back after our stay was done. Evolve has been slow to respond and as of yet, have not received any credit.

Wonderful family get away off the grid.

We had a nice long weekend at the cabin. Living space is limited but very efficient, we had plenty of space, especially with the beautiful deck and screened in porch. We traveled 4 kids and 4 adults. The cabin was clean and the amenities were wonderful. The hot tub was a great way to unwind and watch the stars. It's off the beaten path, but a great family getaway to play at the lake (we paddleboarded, kayaked, swam and fished). We played games and enjoyed the fire in the evenings. Owner was very quick to respond and answer any questions. Cabin is just as the description states. Great vacation! Can't wait to go back.

tiny trailer

The picture makes it look like a two story building but you only have access to the top floor so pay attention to how little square footage there is. This places is essentially just a single-wide trailer that has been remodeled to look like a "cabin." The water has A LOT of sulfur which will quickly fill the entire house as soon as you turn the sink on. It also makes showers pretty tough. It says that it sleeps 10 but that is counting two baby beds on one of the lofts. In reality this house could only work for a couple with multiple kids. More than 2 adults and your sleeping situation would be too tight.

Great place. Had the whole lake to ourself.

We had a great time. Was a little hard getting up the hill up but everything else was great. Went fishing with the kids they each caught a fish for the first time, myself included. Walked around the lake and my son caught a little baby turtle. Was a nice quite vacation under the star with the fire pit and marshmallows.

Privacy in the mountains

We can not say enough about how great the property owners where. The cabin was perfect for our honeymoon get away. The hot tub on the deck and the wind signing through the trees made for beautiful evenings. Grilling on the great gas grill made for wonderful dinners. If you are looking for a place to relax and remove yourself from from text messages and emails book this place fast.

Great place for a weekend getaway!

What a great place for a weekend away. We had five adults and four kids who were able to sleep comfortably in the cabin. The cabin was spotless, the hot tub was great, and sitting around the fire pit was a perfect evening activity. Larry and Alicia are amazing hosts. That said, the living space is small. The pictures don't really give you a feel for how small the cabin actually is. We didn't have any problems, but it was a little surprising. We would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful cabin in the woods!!!!

My husband and I had a lovely romantic weekend in the cabin!! It was beautiful and secluded with amazing views, great hot tub and fireplace. The owner was very helpful and responsive - thinking of all the details like extra toiletries and a cute smores welcome gift! The cabin has lots of games and movies!! Since the nearest grocery is a bit of a drive, we recommend taking your groceries and a bottle of wine. Had a blast and we'd definitely stay again!! Enjoy!!!

lovely, private spot

Our family greatly enjoyed our weekend at the Cabin in the Woods. The location is remote and lovely. Perfect for anyone who truly wants to get away. The cabin itself is cleverly designed to maximize space. There are lots of windows and stunning views of the woods. The kids loved the upstairs rooms with their array of little beds and toys. The property is large with a great deck space. Ideal for grilling. The windows in the dining room let in beautiful light, and though there is no cable hookup, the property comes with a great collection of DVDs that has something for everyone. There is also internet service for those who can’t go completely off the radar. Though the lake is a short drive down the road, it is lovely and very private. The nearest grocery store is also a bit of a drive, so we stocked up on everything we needed prior to arriving, and that worked out well for us. Definitely bring bottled water if you don’t care for well water as it has a different taste. We would recommend the Cabin in the Woods to anyone looking for fun and privacy. It is a truly wonderful option for families who want to enjoy a peaceful vacation in a beautiful spot.
