Art, nature and peace upon the mountain of St. Francis.
Shepard's Cottage that preserves the 18th century original characteristic with his structure made in local pink stones. Indoors the building has been re-adapted to host from 4 to 6 persons. It is located at the bottom of mount Subasio bordering with the regional park. The cottage is located 12 km to Assisi, 5/6 km. outside Spello and very close to Collepino castle. In addition the scenery offers a beautiful display of ancient olive trees covering the hillside from Assisi all the way to Spoleto. Private outdoor heated Jacuzzi and wood-burning oven. The garden is fenced and equipped with an effective mosquito repellent system that works exclusively with organic products (as does the olive grove that surrounds it, as our company is totally organic). Electricity, bed, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom linen, final cleaning, use of the washing machine, SPA and oven, television, WiFi are included in the price. Heating to be paid according to consumption (with meter)

The house is ideal for a couple or family with up to 3 children. It is off the beaten track but that is its charm. The views are senational and the house lacks for nothing for self catering. The local town Spello is only 10 minutes drive away and is charming with excellent restaurants, interesting shops and and sights. Most impottantly, Nadia, the owner is the most conscientious and solicitous of host. She speaks admirable English and visited every other day to check we were OK and to to clean the hot tub.hill top town with
The property is on the side of a steep slope, very isolated in the middle of an olive orchard. It takes10 - 15 minutes to drive from the village. The major downside is that it is dark with tiny windows showing almost no view. Everything worked. The kitchen could use new utensils. The internet connection was intermittent and didn't work downstairs. There was an extra charge for gas for heating, not mentioned in the web site. The owner was friendly and professional. The electrical plugs did not accommodate our Dutch/French ones and only one converter was available.
This house is comfy and quaint, located on a beautiful hillside surrounded by olive trees. Although quite dark inside, the views our of the window in the kitchen is amazing. The furniture is out of a time machine, like all the old stuff your Italian grandmother had lying around, which gives it character, but maybe not the most comfort. The beds are very bouncy and not amazingly supportive. The kitchen is very well equipped (baring the knives of course, always bring your own knives). One of the highlights is the hot tub, which was super fun with the kids and had an amazing view. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. You have to pay in cash for the gas you use, FYI. All in all a great, rustic house in a beautiful and quiet part of Umbria. Good for a single family or two couples.

Alles vor Ort, was man dafür braucht.
A solo 10 minuti da Spello e vicinissimo a bellissimi posti da visitare! (Collepino,San Giovanni,Assisi,Bevagna,Rasiglia ecc..).
Idromassaggio ben tenuto e con vista panoramica! Padroni di casa disponibili e gentili! Torneremo prestissimo!
I loved this little house. It sits on a beautiful mountain overlooking Spello. Sitting outside is so peaceful and quiet. You only hear the tranquil sounds of nature. Nadia is excellent and helpful and takes extra care of this special place!

Wonderful, secluded Umbrian hilltop vistas, lovely old house and absolute peace and tranquility
A fabulous find, this wonderful 17th Century mountain retreat is so high up in the Umbrian hills above Spello with views along the valley that must extend for 50 miles. The setting is just stunning. The house itself is rustic, charming and simple with a small kitchen but otherwise really generous living space and being built on the side of the hill, the bedrooms are downstairs and therefore cooler in the summer heat. The hot tub absolutely delivers, it’s a fabulous way to spend lazy afternoons just watching the sun pass by the horizon. Perhaps the biggest surprise for us was Spello, an Umbrian town we hadn’t visited before and it’s wonderful, a really stunning Umbrian hilltop town. You are also perfectly placed to visit Assisi which is a really easy 20 minute drive away. And we would also really recommend the hour drive to Mamore falls, literally one of the most extraordinary waterfalls you will see, made all the more extraordinary that it is man made by the Romans by diverting one river down a mountain to meet another river- don’t be put off by the idea that it’s man made, it’s real and it’s incredible! Finally we have to mention that our host Nadia who owns the house is charm and kindness personified, she couldn’t have been more helpful coming every few days to check on the hot tub and maintain the ph levels and always letting us know ahead and never disturbing us. She speaks wonderful English and is very easy to chat to; we would absolutely recommend the property, it was a lovely week.

Peace, quiet, beauty and views in Italy's green heart.
We loved our stay in La Madraselva, from start to finish. Thanks so much to Nadia for her warm welcome and tireless efforts in making our stay so unforgettable. The cottage is perfect: very spacious, with everything we needed, and very cool in the heat of June. The views are superb over the blue haze of the Umbrian plain, including some of the beautiful surrounding hilltop villages. We enjoyed the freshness of the mountain air in the evening as well as the cuckoos, owls, barking deer and the fireflies darting through the olive trees! Even the occasional eagle drifting by. A short drive brings you to the flowers and views atop Mt. Subasio
The spa was very welcome in the heat of the day as was Nadia's kind invitation to use the superb swimming pool at her other property about a 15 minute drive away. Grazie
mille! A well-stocked supermarket can be found in Spello as well as a convenience store and restaurant a few minutes by car up the mountain in Collepino.
Once down the mountain, it is a short drive to our beloved Assisi, whose deeply spiritual aura never seems to diminish, Bevagna, Montefalco, Trevi and, of course, Spello itself. Well worth checking out local festivals such as the Gaite in Bevagna. Excellent restaurants using fresh, local produce abound. When we return we hope to catch the flower festival in Spello in early June. It's also a shortish drive to Colfiorito and its flower meadows in the mountains.
Overall, a wonderfully refreshing visit.
