The Barn Studio designed by owner/builder in 2020 is located adjacent to the owner's residence in town Southwest Harbor. This property is off the street and surrounded by 5 acres of fields, trees, and views of Acadia's western mountains providing the perfect country escape feeling.
Completely furnished open concept living area (with full size sleep-sofa for maximum occupancy for 4) with full kitchen, 1-bedroom with queen bed with new foam mattress topper, 1-bath, cable and WIFI, heat pump, private outside area with seating for 4, barbeque grill, fire pit, and lobster cooker.
Walking distance to shopping, restaurants, marina, bus route, and minutes away from Acadia National Park, biking, hiking, swimming, fishing and boating.
This property truly is the perfect escape.

Nice location that is near all major attrations but far enough away to not feel touristy. Close to shopping center of Southwest Harbor and the notebook with things to do, places to go and eat was very useful.

Our stay was amazing!! The place had everything we needed, and was a walkable distance to the town. It’s a short drive from bar harbor and Acadia park sites. The hosts were so kind and easy to get in contact with. We would definitely stay again!

Top notch place to stay with well-designed finishes. The surrounding property was an amazing place to start each day as we walked our dogs and felt surrounded by nature on the extensive property in a neighborhood setting. Close enough to walk to town, with great shops & places to eat. Our host, Dawn, was very responsive to all of our inquiries, and was super friendly & welcoming when we met. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Wonderful quaint, roomy, country setting barn studio. Very clean, had all amenities needed. Owners very quick in responses. Greeted by several deer all times of the day. Truly enjoyed our time here very much and would definitely come back!

Lovely little spot

This rental had everything we needed for a relaxing stay in SW Harbor. Our dog loved the open areas to roam and we enjoyed watching the wildlife in the morning as we drank our coffee.

Cozy and Pet-Friendly Getaway in Southwest Harbor

Our stay at The Barn Studio was exactly as described—clean, well-maintained, and easy to check into. It’s a great option if you're looking for a quieter alternative to Bar Harbor. The space is very dog-friendly, and there was plenty of room to enjoy the outdoors after a day exploring Acadia National Park. We highly recommend dining at Harbor Table—the food was delicious and atmosphere was excellent!

We were lucky enough to be able to check in a little early and meet our wonderful host Dawn. We had amazing communication Dawn all during our stay. She had great advice for what to see, how to get there, and where to go with our pup.We loved our stay here. It’s in the perfect location to everything to see and do. We hope we can come back again. My husband and I loved staying at the barn studio with our dog. It was clean and even better than the photos. We were so comfortable and the grounds were beautiful. The location was perfect for exploring southwest harbor!

Peaceful and beautiful! Perfect get away spot. Clean and well equipped with lovely outdoor sitting areas. A wonderful spot to celebrate our anniversary and pet friendly for our dog, too!

Easy to find, wonderful space. Great access to Mount Desert Island. Inside was nice and clean, plenty of dishes to cook whatever you want. Daughter slept on the sofa bed and said it was great!

Beautiful, private, dog-friendly space!

If you’re looking for a pet-friendly stay near Acadia National Park, look no further! We enjoyed being away from the bustle of Bar Harbor with room for our fur baby to be outside while relaxing after sunset. We found the adorably decorated apartment clean and comfortable. Laundromat, restaurants, and grocery stores all nearby. Wonderful!

Adorable space

We loved having a clean relaxing space to come back to every night after a long day of hiking. We were also amazed at the noise control as we heard absolutely nothing from the upstairs apartment. The hosts were so kind and responsive. We would definitely stay again if we ever get the chance to return.

Second stay at this lovely apartment located within walking distance to restaurants and shops on Main St. Southwest Harbor. Also close to shuttle service to the park and Bar Harbor. Very clean and comfortable. Lots of outside space for our pup. Dawn and Wes are they if you need them but give you privacy too.

Amazing property!!

We loved this property so much! The inside was perfect for the two of us and our dog. It was very comfortable and spacious with a full kitchen. The yard was amazing to walk the dog and just so peaceful to sit out and look at. The location was very convenient to walk 5 minutes on sidewalks to Main Street with delicious coffee and breakfast and dinner spots. It was also only 10-20 minutes to Acadia hiking trails and Bar Harbor. The host was very friendly! We would highly recommend this rental and would love to come back and stay again!

Just do it

We loved staying here and will definitely do so again the next time we are on MDI. The studio apartment was bright, cheery, and very clean. The queen bed was very comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, and the shower was great. For those with dogs, this is the place to stay. Just open the door and let your dog out for walks the lengthy mowed paths. Just do it.

Great location!

The property was ideal for myself and my husband and was very well equipped. We really enjoyed the private seating area overlooking the main gardens. We were glad that we were staying on the “quiet side” as we were visiting during peak summer season but it was an easy and quick drive to the main national park, Bar Harbor and the rest of the island. The unit is also an easy short walk to the shops, cafes & restaurants in Southwest Harbor and a 5min drive to the local supermarket & coin-op laundromat. The host provided a lot of useful information & was available by text if we needed anything. We had a great week.

Beautiful property in a quiet location

This property was wonderful in so many ways! The owners have made easy walking mowed paths on their property which is a dog owners delight for early morning or before bedtime pup walks and exploration. The outside sitting area is beautiful and inviting. The size of the Barn Studio was perfect for 2 adults and a dog. We entertained our local friends one night. We had everything we needed for cooking and dining in. We were excited to find quality knives, silverware and plates. The owners were very responsive to all correspondence and wanted our stay to be perfect. It's a lovely place to stay with your four legged family member!

Great location and hosts!

We had a great experience at the barn studio! The location was great. It was a super easy walk to down town Soutwest Harbor. The property is very dog friendly and set back from the road, so we didn't have any concerns with our pup off leash. The only issue we had was the mattress was not comfortable because it was quite sunken in. Dawn and her family were an approachable friendly face and available for any questions, but not at all intrusive. The binder in the studio was also a great resource for advice and ideas of what to do in the area and on MDI. Thank you!

Loved out stay!

Perfect little retreat when exploring Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor. Spent most of our time in Bar Harbor which was a 20-25 min drive depending on where we were going for the day. The studio was located on the first floor of the barn, and it was absolutely adorable. It was very clean and had everything we needed for our family. For anyone that has a larger family, this would be a great option (along with the other section of the barn) if some family members needed their own space. My only comment, which is completely a personal preference, is that the bed was very soft. We personally like a firmer mattress, but this would not stop us from renting again.
