My husband and I had a wonderful time in the Sunset lodge. We enjoyed all of the hiking trails, spending time down by the water and enjoying a private campfire. We would recommend any couple looking for a relaxing weekend in nature and beautiful surroundings.
Beautiful and secluded walking down to the beach on Lake Superior sitting by the campfire watching the stars listening to the birds song a little piece of Heaven my second stay here and I will be back! Am going to make it here at least once each season Just wonderful!
This cabin was so lovely! The smell of the cedar, super comfy bed and short walk to the beach were highlights. It was so nice to unplug. Would definitely stay here again.
Peaceful little cabin in the woods! We didn't hear a vehicle during our entire stay. Beautiful walk on trail to the beach on lake superior! Close to amnicon state park where we visited before checking in. Would stay again!
With the tme of year and the layout of the area, we were completely alone. Did some hiking in the area and so enjoyed the solitude. The perfect get away.
My husband and I stayed for three nights and loved it! Once at Camp Amnicon, you really don’t need to go anywhere else during your trip. It has hiking trails, an amazing beach along Lake Superior where we found lots of sea glass and pretty drift wood, the coziest private cabin, and a nice private fire pit right outside the cabin. Their saying of “it has everything you need and nothing you don’t” is exactly right.
It was a lovely experience. The cabin is set back from the main property just enough to have some privacy, but still have access to showers and firewood in just a few minutes walking. I really enjoyed the cabin itself, with just enough furniture and kitchen items, without it being too crowded.
This was our second stay at Camp Amnicon. We stayed in Quietude last year, but booked Sunset this year because the three new ones weren’t available. It was great!! We think we might like sunset/sunrise better because they feel much more private, and we didn’t need the bigger space of the newer cabins. So cozy - we love the fireplace!
So quiet, peaceful and well supplied cabin! Cozy and sweet. Loved the little library of Sherlock Holmes and xkcd books. Excellent thermostat for the cabin and for the outhouse. Great walk to the beaches too. Thank you!
Amazing. This was my first time staying at a cabin in the woods. Communication was great, location was beautiful and the expericence was superb. Thank you
The cabin was exactly as described. It was clean and cozy. The trails were nice. The beach was fantastic, definitely a bonus.
The cabin has just enough to be comfortable, but not overdone. The bed was comfy and the gas fireplace kept us very warm.
I hope to come back again.
I recommend this to anyone looking to getaway to basics.
The cabin was just as described, set back on the property a perfect distance from others. The outhouse was clean. The trail to the lake was a nice little easy hike and the beach was amazingly beautiful. The river flowing into Superior was really cool to see. The Porcupine Trail from the lake back to the lodge was a good, more difficult hike. The amenities were great, the communication was great, and our trip was just fantastic! Thank you. We'll be back!
We road our motorcycles into camp. It was a cute cabin, nice and toasty gas fireplace. There were showers available in the main lodge building. We walked from the cabin down to the beach for a lovely sunset. The trail was wet and mosquitoes plenty but part of the wilderness experience. Once you get to the beach then bugs aren't a problem.
I came up for a night with my dog. We had a beautiful night of sleep listening to the rain in the trees. We were up early to take a walk down to Lake Superior and greeted with such a beautiful beach full of sticks (my dogs most favorite thing) … the waves were crashing and it was windy but the water was warm and we enjoyed coffee and walks along the beach. I’ll definitely return so I can spend more time there
We were happy to get the cabin at Camp Amnicon and had no problems during our stay. It is the off season and the weather was cool and we had a couple of rainy spells, but we hiked and watched birds each day in spite of the weather. Hiking to the Lake Superior beach was enjoyable. We had no problem carting our gear in to the "walk in" cabin. Numerous hikes, state parks, and birdwatching sites are a short drive away. Birdwatching from the cabin was productive and interesting. We hope to visit Camp Amnicon again during the off-season. I really appreciate the walk-in cabins and the distance from the highway. You can hear the breeze, birds, and distant surf of Lake Superior...the peaceful sounds of Nature.
My Husband and I stayed here one night as we passed through on our way home to Missouri. It was very cute and clean. The outhouse was not bad at all. We took to the hike to the lake and explored the beach before coming back to the cabin. Warming up soup for dinner that we brought and reading some books that were n the cabin. The weather was perfect and the fireplace made it nice in the evening and throughout the night. We visited May 29-30, we saw deer turkey and as we left a black bear was on the side on the gravel road in the trees then ran across the road as we attempted to get his picture before he disappeared. All in all a great place to spend the night and explore.

Very rustic retreat with lots of walking
I loved the cabin but not the walk for unloading. The fire pit was so full of ashes I wasn’t able to start a fire in there. When I asked if they had a shovel they said yes that was on our list to be done. I waited and they never came back so I used the snow shovel and dug it out best I could. . The short walk to the beach wasn’t as short as I expected so I never made it there. Road into Camp was treacherous and a bit dangerous. Today when I left they were grading it so that helped. I was hoping for some internet but they said it wasn’t for guests so not sure how I was supposed to get ahold of people or Verbo to ask questions. If I was younger I would love it here more. That being said I did enjoy myself and left feeling at peace. The few people I encountered were very nice. Thanks for the stay.
