To start off, let me say the price and location were great. The rental was within budget and within walking distance of the beach. The unit itself was also nice and seem like it was well kept. Unfortunately, our immediate reaction was tarnished by seeing a clogged and very disgusting amount of standing water in the tub of one of bathrooms. Let's be real. Things happen. This IS a beach rental and lots of people come through so clogs happen. BUT, this was supposedly cleaned right before our arrival and no one bothered to report it or sort it out?! Next came the calls to Vacasa. This was our first rental to Vacasa, and honestly never heard of them before this experience. But their response may make it the last. I called twice and spoke to two different agents both of whom stated that they needed to call the local team to sort and "will call back in 15 minutes." Surprise, neither called back in 15 minutes nor for the rest of the evening. I called again the next morning, got the same spiel from a third agent and they said that they would call the local team to sort out a plumber. Feeling frustrated that nothing was getting done, we looked around the rental and were able to find a local number to call ourselves. Turns out this number was the previous management company but they did us a solid and passed on the info to the new company and a plumber arrived soon thereafter. He was able to sort of the clog (hair in the drains, go figure) and left. I should note that throughout this process, I was also texting the Vacasa support app with (assuming not a bot) an agent. After the plumber left, I reminded the agent once more that we needed the bathroom cleaned. That was eventually sorted out when we left for the beach. In summary, there's no easy way to "rate" this rental. On the one hand, the place was decent, price acceptable, close to the beach, mostly clean (I should also point out we used none of the dishes as it appeared to us that no one had bothered to look at them to verify that they were clean because there were some very obvious dried food on them that was a sure sign that the dishes were definitely NOT clean), but the delay in getting Vacasa to sort out a very obvious problem right at the start of the our rental stay was just unacceptable. I'd give the unit itself a 3 out 5 and 1 out of 5 for Vacasa's response. Let's call it a 2 for good ol' simple math's sake. For the price we paid, I would expect to at least not have a drain clogged and definitely no scummy water in the bathtub.
