Beautiful, comfortable, unique, well equipped home, with fun and interesting furnishings. A beautiful area to walk and relax. Thoroughly enjoyable, we would go back if in the area.
What a wonderful property - an historic gem, with most parts dating back over two centuries, yet well suited to 21st century guests. The character and comfort of the house greatly enhanced our Berkshire getaway, and the rural setting was deeply relaxing. This is a real home full of New England charm and warmth.
We chose this property because of the age (1740s farmhouse) and convenient location in the southern Berkshires only 15 minutes or so from Great Barrington. The house did not disappoint. It is a very charming farmhouse in excellent condition for its age and with modern amenities. As we only had four adults, there was plenty of room to spread out. The property is very private off the main road with beautiful surroundings. We only wish the weather were cooler or we would have enjoyed a wonderful fire in one of the large fireplaces.
The place was perfect. It was close to everywhere we needed to go. The house was beautiful as well as the surrounding property. We loved sitting on the porch and listening to the frogs at night. The interior with all the fireplaces was cozy and wonderful. The host were very responsive and checked in with us. I can’t say enough positive things about our wonderful stay there.
It was a great stay! I booked for a group of guests who were attending a wedding at the Freeman mansion down the road, and it could not have been more perfect. The feedback they gave was that the place was clean and comfortable, and had a fascinating old-timey layout (i.e. the rooms kept going and going!) Highly recommend the place.
Host was extremely accommodating and house was as-advertised. Great spot to explore great Barrington and surrounding towns!
Wood burning stove and fireplaces are a real highlight! Fire pit is not advertised on listing but there is one. Would recommend highly
We really enjoyed our stay in this authentic vintage home. It was very roomy and clean and the host went out of his way for us. We flew out from Chicago so really enjoyed the different style of home and land than we are used to and were able to catch up with my son and his 3 friends who are walking the Appalachian trail. Great place for a family or group of friends.
My husband and I came here for our 10th anniversary with our 9-year-old. The house itself is so charming and historic and cozy, with tons of space. We loved that there are two different stairways to the second floor, which has two parts not connected to each other. Kitchen and small table and seating area are delightful to spend time in. We had a gorgeous fire in the family room in the evening. Best of all are the grounds, huge and gorgeous, green and serene, with a lovely pond. Communication was perfect.
Beautiful colonial age property nestled in the Berkshires. We wanted to chill out with the family in a lovely house with access to nature and small town fun. The house gave us that. The house has some age to it and it deserves tender care.
Close to ski mountain-Catamount. (10 min drive)Colin the owner was very helpful from check in to check out. Communication was great! Was even asked when we would check in to make sure the walkways were de-iced.Very old house with character. Very clean, warm. Description of the house is pretty accurate.
I've been visiting the Berkshires for years and I can say that this stay was my absolute favorite.
This beautifully maintained home takes you back to the late 1700's early 1800's where one can visualize the way people used to live with the wide board wood floors and multiple fireplaces. Updated and spacious it is a pleasure to spend time within. The location is perfect. Enjoy morning coffee while admiring the vast and beautiful grounds. Very secluded, peaceful and private. Yet minutes away from downtown Great Barrington.
The beds were incredibly comfortable and house was very clean.
We cannot wait to return!
This antique farmhouse has been carefully maintained and sensitively updated over time, so that newer spaces feel nearly like the original ca. 1745 core. There were only 4 of us, two parents and two adult daughters, but a group twice our size could be reasonably accommodated. The 10-acre setting is beautiful, with the rear lawn leading to a private pond and the front of the property separated from Rt. 41 by 1/4 mile of farmed fields. The hosts provided clear and thorough instructions and the home was warm and comfortable.
A well appointed charming old farmhouse in a quiet pastoral setting with a small lake on the property. Close to town and ski areas. House was clean and had all the amenities we needed. Host was easy to communicate with and helpful. He suggested we check in early as snow was forecast in the afternoon. We were 3 generations with a total of 6 of us. The 4 bedrooms and 6 beds ensured everyone had their own bed. Kids enjoyed playing in the snow. Overall an excellent stay. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a sizeable home in a quiet country setting close to town. Definitely deserves a 5 out of 5 star rating.
History buffs will be in heaven! Hard to find such a well preserved 280 year-old property. The floors throughout are something you cannot copy today. Amazing. The creature comforts are all there and our 4 adult group were very comfortable. We used the 2 queen rooms (one up a narrow/steep stairway over the kitchen but worth it when you get up). *There are another 2 upstairs bedrooms accessed through a second living room. These bedrooms and the adjoining bathroom are connected by a hallway with a very low rail with open area underneath. Just a caution if you have toddlers, sleepwalkers or clumsy people like me;) We hung out in the kitchen room & patio only. The patio has a lovely view and 4 (new?) Adirondack chairs. Very peaceful! There is a large square hole in the deck (old hot tub location?). Another caution if you have very young wobbly toddlers, otherwise not an issue for our group at all.The kitchen has modern major appliances and other than a toaster, it had everything we needed. The small living area next to the kitchen is charming with a pretty fireplace, built-in bookcase, wood beams and 2 arm chairs w/ottoman. The small loveseat has seen better days and a larger sofa in lieu of it would be very welcome. I would not hesitate to recommend. Easiest check-in, lovely host and delivered charm. These great homes won't always be available. What a treat for us.
Our family had the pleasure of staying at this home during our child’s graduation from the nearby Berkshire school. It was the perfect situation for us in an idyllic setting very close to the campus. The home is over 250 years old and has been lovingly updated. The kitchen has seemingly all new appliances and gorgeous wood plank countertops with an adjacent windowed sitting area with a large hearth. The old and new are beautifully combined. Our family members spent a lot of time looking at the old books and artifacts around the home, especially the photograph in the entryway of the family that had owned the home for over 100 years. While sitting in the kitchen, you can enjoy a view of the green pasture to the left of the home and the pond at the back. The front of the home has a gorgeous view of Everett Mountain. From the patio, you can sit in the shade of a large tree and look out onto the pond and woods beyond. We were thrilled to watch a snapping turtle come up the grass incline to find a spot to lay her eggs. We enjoyed a family meal in the wood-paneled dining room, which has been beautifully maintained and also has windows out to the pond. This spacious home has been lovingly updated and maintained and is in a tucked-away setting close to Sheffield, Egremont, and Great Barrington.
We had a lovely weekend in this beautiful home. There were so many cozy reading nooks and fireplaces. The view from every window is beautiful. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfortable Great location for hikes and exploring the little towns nearby. Absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. And I’m longing for a cast iron stove like that for my home.
Beautiful antique home, well maintained, comfortable beds and baths, fully functional kitchen and living areas, quiet and beautifully landscaped. Highly recommended!
We had a great time! We loved the multiple gathering spaces, all with fireplaces, including the comfortable kitchen seating area, amazing dinning room, and spacious living room and outdoor spaces as well. Colin was a great host and responded immediately when there was a mix-up about arrival and entry. The area is amazing and we loved the history of the home and area.
