Closed resort
We booked the resort to drive there and find out that they have been closed for 6 months due to the pandemic. No sign of closure on hotels.com which made more intriguing

Beautiful property right on the beach. Gorgeous pools and views. Clean, large comfortable rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. It is steps from the main street with many restaurants, supermarket and pharmacy. Yet it is away from the noise as it is at the end of the street, behind a large casino. Excellent location. I booked this hotel with little information about it, after my Airbnb booking was canceled. It was an excellent choice! All of the property and amenities are not currently in use, but I believe they are working on it. I look forward to staying here again.

The property has an excellent view and it had a beautiful structure, however major upgrades needs to be done to keep it in good shape. The rooms are clean and very big. I would go back because it’s convenience to everything.

Let me start by saying that my expectations were not high to begin with, and even then the property was not up to par. I booked a room for one night, because I choose to extend my beach vacation. From the outside the hotel looks nice, the location was great because it was within walking distance to the beach. The lobby was presentable and had an ocean view. The grounds were maintained, however mosquitos were everywhere and didn’t seemed like they fumigated. The rooms were old and tired. Room had a microwave and Small refrigerator, had an ocean view. The room did not have a phone to contact front desk, didn’t appear like the room was cleaned in months. There were spider webs all over. To top it all the AC was very poor. If you are staying here for one night it’s ok, anything more than that....go else where. I will not be coming back here.

The property is now well maintained and is in need of a major upgrade/renovation. You can't even call for room service, because there are no phones in the room and the restaurant, isn't that good. The last day, I was there, I had a mouse in my bath room and when I told the front desk manager, there was no attempt to give me any kind of restitution! The people are nice enough, but they don't make up for a functionally obsolescent facility. This is not a service oriented facility and is woefully inadequate, in many ways...

No written instruction art front desk or in room. No explanation that this is is a ALL- INCLUSIVE RESORT. Even on webpage nothing but it does say breakfast included. Expected breakfast but obviously not and paying was three times higher that going out. Property is beautiful and everything is easy access from there but again, no info in room for guests to review at their leisure.Perhaps all these issues are not an issue if paying ALL-Inclusive prices. Room was large and clean but not info at all there; no hair dryer, two bottles of body wash for shower and just one small garbage pail in bathroom. Fridge freezer was warmer than rest of fridge.

Very quiet.....staff always present....restaurant, pools and even a personal entrance to the beach (theirs is the only segment with no big rocks in the water!!! Yay!!!)...The views are breathtaking....you will be envied!!!

It’s Bad but Good Points
Ants in bed... power outages... broken lamps... horrible mattress. I would recommend it unless you like convenience. Pool was nice. Right on beach and strip of Sosua are pluses.

One particular security guard appeared to be aggressive and over policing in his attitude and behavior. I also informed the hotel manager of this behavior and will not attend again after ten years until I meet with management. Jasper

I liked that the beach was a few steps from the hotel and I also like the view from my room. However, the hotel needs to be upgraded. The furniture are too old and damaged. Also, there are no phones in the rooms, which means that if you need to get in contact with the front desk, you would have to go there, when a phone call could save you the trip. And they don’t put not even a bottle of water in the fridge, so in a country where the temperature is mostly 100 degrees Fahrenheit, having to go out of the hotel to find drinking water, is a pain. I truly wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anybody and specially I wouldn’t recommend it to families, as you would see many young girls with little clothes, walking with all men to their hotel rooms.

DEFINITELY NOT FOR FAMILIES. I know it looks good for the price, but do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. This is a "rent by the hour" type place not a resort place. Upon heading to our 1st room, young dominican female, old white man heading into a nearby room. Get to room, flush toilet, water everywhere (believe me it was only #1). Go to front desk, they change our room (unapologetically). More old white men and young dominican females heading to rooms. We go to new room, walk in, and theres an inch of water from the beds to the patio (and this room was not next to the previous). Again, we get changed to another room. I am almost positive there's no sanitizing of the toilet water being mopped up off the entire floor. The grout showed the years of bad plumbing...poo water on the floors etc. More "business" relationships entering rooms. It may have been a nice place in its time because of the perfect location, but there have been no updates. The lobby is much nicer than the rooms. Front desk person was adequate. Staff was very nice, tip them if you need a beer they will get it for you. If you truly must stay here, pay at the front desk, not with your card or they will add a fee.

Pros: hotel is accessible to the beach and nice beach view. Cons: no WiFi, dirty, allowed 1 guess a day the 2nd you have to pay $30 US, double doors separate my room with another room did not have a lock, no hot water sometime, never go back again

The Views and Location Makeup for the Weaknesses
The room was comfortable and right on the water -- the sound of the waves constant and soothing and the view of Sosua Bay was magnificent. Staff was mixed in terms of friendliness and the front desk was not really helpful re WiFi connection challenges, local businesses (couldn't tell us where a post office is), etc. The room was VERY dated with plaster patches on the walls, tape covering cracks in the very- scratched door, the need for caulk on the sink, torn/ratty bedspread and towels, etc. But the beds were comfy and clean, a big table was useful for eat-in nights, water was hot and pressure good. The location is what makes this place special -- not necessarily the accomodations themselves.
