Nighttime music bothersome
The room was fine, the hotel nice but both nights there was street music outside our third floor window. The music started at 3am and continued until morning. It might be possible to ask for a room on the other side, I do not know if it was audible or bothersome in that side. The hotel is nice otherwise and I understand that they have no control over this disturbance.

The hotel is in dire need of maintenance. The bedsheets were dirty and water was shut off without any warning to the customers. We checked out 3 hours after checking in. I would not stay there.

Rooms need work
Most of the hotel is in pretty good shape. However, my room was disappointing. The air conditioning was noisy and needed replacement. Did not work very well. The walls were desperately in need of paint. And the shower was only lukewarm water.

Clean, good service, good breakfast included, good Wi-Fi but the employees are not fluent on English. Besides, the front desk receptionist sent me for a walk at the local market. Advice: Don't do that. Terrible walkway conditions, very hot and even dangerous. The neighborhood is far from what I expected; no pretty beaches nor historical interesting places to kill time. It is definitely a place to sleep one night and move to your liveaboard or whatever you went there to do.

This is a very good hotel with a very good buffet breakfast, lots of hot foods, pastries, and fruit. It is not in a built up area, though.

There were not enough electrical outlets in the room. There was only one in the bathroom, one for the coffee pot and one at the desk. None by the bed at all. We had to request and get an extension cord for my husband's C-pap machine. Also, the AC worked poorly and the repair man was not very helpful or friendly the first time he came. The second time, after we knew there was no improvement, he fixed it, but it shouldn't have taken two requests. The front desk needed staff that spoke English a bit better. It was very, very hard to understand them.

This was our second time here and had a similar experience both times. Great food- terrible service. Fortunately the included breakfast is a wonderful buffet of anything and everything and you don’t need to rely on the inefficient wait staff. The bed was large and comfy, rooms were spacious and clean, and showers were hot. Perfect place to stay for a night before or after the ferry from Waisai.

Room was fine and AC worked. But the in-room refrigerator and hair dryer did not work. Quite a few of the boards in the deck to get to the pool were in very unsafe condition. Room service menu and what they actually offered did not match. And the language barrier with the person answering the room service phone (even though I was just using a language that was on the menu) made it impossible to figure out what they actually offered for room service. Room service is closed much of the night through noon.

Disappointing
The hotel maybe the best in town but it is pretty poor. They refused to give any of our group 2 keys for the room even though there was 2 in each room and you need the key to operate the elevator! There seems to be no management around! The food was ok but service was slow mainly because they expected 1 waiter to cope with 40 odd guests. The showers in the rooms either didnt work well with no pressure or had no hot water.

Stay at the Swiss-Helhotel Sorong
The Swiss-Belhotel Sorong is a very nice, Western-style hotel with a good restaurant. Our room was pleasing, very clean, and the bed was comfortable. It is a good place to stay before going to Raja Ampat to dive or snorkel. This hotel offers a shuttle service from the airport, which is very helpful, but you have to pay for it.

Considering the location the hotel does a good job. The breakfast buffet is good but the dinners offered are just ok. You are better off going to the Marina restaurant nearby.

I stayed in this hotel as a lay-over between a liveaboard trip in Raja Ampat and my outbound flight. The hotel was a very good choice for this. The rooms were nice, the shower is strong, there is a nice swimming pool. We ate at a local restaurant right next to the hotel, which was also very nice.

Despite poor reviews, we were surprised that the hotel was just fine for us. Room was good, bed comfortable. Not an amazing hotel but got the job done and was plenty fine after a great dive trip.

Terrible maintenance & cleanliness. Poor service.
This has to be the worst 3 star hotel we ever stayed in. We stayed here for 1 night before our liveaboard to Raja Ampat. Maintenance was poor with significant water stains on the wall under the paint, dirt and stains were found at every corner of the washroom, walls has uncleaned food stains. Bedsheets and pillow case has significant stains that look like food or blood stains. Lack of hand towel and soap in the washroom. I would expect a shower towel and a hand towel at least. This is a hotel not a B&B We arrived at 10am and wanted to see if we could early check in, we were told no rooms are available - very fair. Yet my travel buddy has been offered to early check in at additional cost for the same room type. Interesting.

No clean towels in the room. The room did not have wifi coverage and when I asked to move they said the hotel was full. Although, when I went to the restaurant they said they were closed, which seemed strange at 19.45, when the hotel is full.

Rooms and Restaurant deteriorated over the years
been in this hotel for the first time 5 years ago, in that time room in good condition but iam afraid by now in our return there this year room have been runned down, curtain ripped and dirty, bed sheet ripped, not so clean bathroom and very bad service at restaurant despite the friendlyness of the staff. Management need to work on improving the standard of the place and give a good refresh to all the rooms overwise the reputation of swiss bel may be only getting more bad. Sorong is NOT a vacation destination. It is a one night stay to get on a liveaboard to visit and dive raja Ampat. Hotels are adequate, staff is adequate if not sparse. Do not expect a resort by any standard (eastern or western). Buffet is adequate.

Only two good hotels in town , this is a fishing village but most divers stay here . Clean and safe , good restaurant , there are no other restaurants near by . They do not exchange money and when we flew in all three atm were out of order so get some money from the bigger airport , you will need it for taxis .

at for divers
There are only two western hotels here , mainly for divers coming and going from raja ampart , this place is very clean only thing is they do not take US dollars so use your credit card or exchange money before you come . The restaurant has good food all day long .
