About this property

Inviting 3-Bedroom Sonoita Escape: The Ideal Arizona Wine Country Getaway

  • Escape to the Alibi! A unique hideaway in the heart of Sonoita, where rustic ranch charm meets modern comfort. Originally a working barn, this renovated roost honors its heritage with authentic western décor, complemented by a collection of vintage film posters that celebrate the area’s rich film history. Perfectly situated, it offers guests an experience in the spirit of the Old West without sacrificing contemporary convenience.

The home offers three cozy bedrooms—arranged with a king, a queen, and three twin beds—a great layout for couples, families or small groups. The primary bathroom is outfitted with a shower and private water closet. Central climate control keeps the home comfortable in all seasons.

A full kitchen for preparing your own meals and stay in touch with high speed internet. The property boasts breathtaking, wide-ranging views of 4 mountain ranges. With a special view of the "Biscuit", which Western movie buffs are sure to recognize. Located in the middle of Southern Arizona's wine country, this home serves as an excellent starting point for vineyard tours and outdoor excursions. Whether you are planning a family vacation, group outing or a peaceful escape, this Sonoita retreat promises a memorable stay.

Even with all there is to do, you're probably here for the wine. The wineries of Sonoita-Elgin are the main reason out-of-towners find themselves in the area. The Sonoita Wine Region is Arizona’s first to have earned the American Viticultural Area (AVA) designation, thanks to its rolling hills and cooler temperatures. There are about 20 wineries here — the view from Rune is particularly impressive.

Wines aside, Sonoita-Elgin is also home to a brewery and distillery. Take a sip of Copper Brothel’s craft beers or stop by The Elgin Winery and Distillery. The Elgin Winery and Distillery produces the world’s best rum! That’s not an exaggeration — its Ron Regalo De Vida® spirit won the best rum in the world in back-to-back years (2018 and 2019) at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

More than wineries, brews and spirits, at the intersection of Arizona State Routes 82 and 83, the Sonoita Fairgrounds is the center of it all. Year-round, the Sonoita Fairgrounds draws crowds, hosting rodeos, fairs, horse shows and other events. Check out their website for a calendar of events.

Explore Historic Empire Ranch, just North of Sonoita, is a 100,000-acre cattle ranch managed within the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area. Or take a drive down to Parker Canyon Lake for fishing, wild-life seeing and boating.

Just 10 minutes South West of Sonoita is Patagonia, a former mining town, has transformed into a vibrant arts community with restaurants, shops, galleries and unique local businesses. There are many outdoor activities too. The area is known for birding - check out Paton's Center for Humming Birds. Or rent a boat and fish at Lake Patagonia. There are beautiful hiking trails at the Sonoita Creek Preserve and biking trails in the incredible San Rafael Valley. Don't miss the Wagon Wheel Saloon, founded in 1937. The famous saloon is Patagonia’s original cowboy bar - and where the locals hang out. They offer great burgers and Mexican food too.

And more, Tombstone - the city to tough to die is less than an hour away. Check out funky Bisbee, take a tour of Kartchner Caverns or even walk across the Border into Nogales Mexico for lunch.

There is so much to do and see in the greater Sonoita area! You can't see it all at once, and everyone needs an alibi every once in a while...
