Cretan Dream Resort and Spa

8/10 Good

"Overall good for what it is, however. Very family friendly, with lots of kids running around. The area is conveniently close to Chania. The breakfast is relatively good for a buffet style, and better than your basic continental. The rooms are dated and are in desperate need of a renovation. The main sticking point for me is the bathroom, it is very small, and overall not very nice. There is no shower curtain so you have to be careful of the shower head angle. Despite the bathroom being small, there also is a small kitchenette that is eating away at valuable real estate. There are 2 burners, sink, and mini fridge and some basic appliances however the burners seem kinda useless to me since there are no pots and pans. Overall good for what it is, I’d say it’s probably a 3 star hotel, I’d recommend if you get a good deal."

Hyperion City Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Stayed at Hyperion City Hotel. It didn't disappoint. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. Especially the reception staff. The room.was excellent and the bed seriously comfortable. We were given a complimentary drink on arrival. I would definitely recommend and the only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer."

SanSal Boutique Hotel – Adults & Children 11+

10/10 Excellent

"Hôtel hauteur humaine, à quelques pas de la vieille ville sans être dans la veille ville, avec vue sur la mer ou partiellement, avec roof top pour cocktail de fin d’après-midi ou coucher de soleil. J’y retournerai c’est sûr"

Morum City Hotel Chania

8/10 Good

"Very well located hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, could have had greater variety of breads, hot dishes and juices. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only downside was that the aircon had been switched off all over the hotel so had to keep windows open which meant there was a lot of noise from the street. Two of the rooms had sinks outside the bathroom"

Domus Renier Boutique Hotel, Member of Domus Elegance Collection

10/10 Excellent

"This hotel is located in the old town. We had a lot of luggage and Felix helped us"

Domes Noruz Chania, Autograph Collection - Adults Only

10/10 Excellent

"Loved the hotel property, the spa was excellent, great pool and poolside drinks, took feedback well on some tiny points to resolve and enjoyed our stay"

Porto Veneziano Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"The breakfast was incredible. The staff was so helpful. And the location if you want to explore Chania was absolutely ideal!"

Kriti Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Lovely to come back and be welcomed by desk staff. Pool as nice and clean as usual, but colder than the Libyan Sea..."

Phos Hotel Adults Only

10/10 Excellent

"Amazing! Great breakfast, very clean hotel, beautiful pool, great location and informative and friendliest staff. Everyone always greeting you everyday with a smile. We would definitely stay there again."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Skafi?

The best area to stay in Skafi is the main village itself, especially for those seeking convenience and a central location for exploring. The main village of Skafi is built around the central square, Plateia Skafi, which is the heart of local life. Here, you'll find a selection of tavernas serving traditional Cretan food, a few local shops for essentials, and often a kafenion where locals gather. The village is compact and easily walkable, with narrow streets and traditional stone houses leading off from the square. For couples looking for a relaxing and authentic experience, staying in the main village is ideal. You're within easy reach of all the local amenities, allowing you to enjoy leisurely evenings without needing to drive. Many accommodations offer balconies with views of the surrounding mountains or valleys, superb for enjoying a quiet morning coffee.Families with older children might also find the main village suitable, particularly if they appreciate being close to dining options and the gentle rhythm of village life. The central square provides a natural meeting point, and the local tavernas are very welcoming.

When is the best time to go to Skafi?

The best time to visit Skafi is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, or September, when the weather is pleasantly warm and the crowds are thinner.During these months, the temperatures are ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty, such as the nearby Samaria Gorge, without the intense heat of mid-summer. You'll find the walking trails more comfortable and the beaches less crowded, offering a more relaxed experience.Families travelling with younger children often find May or September particularly appealing. The sea is warm enough for swimming, and the quieter atmosphere makes for a more relaxed holiday. Many local tavernas and shops are fully open, but you won't be jostling for space. For couples seeking a romantic getaway, early June is a superb choice. The wildflowers are in bloom, adding to the scenic beauty, and the evenings are great for enjoying a meal outdoors.
