As described.
We were anxious having seen other reviews after booking however our expectations were exceeded - we found the rooms were as described and pictured, and the beds and sheets very comfortable. The rooms we booked were basic and small but with great facilities and a very good price.

We loved the quirky art deco architecture of The Great Madras, which is why we chose the hotel. The last renovation was modern but in keeping with the deco style. The room was tiny, and the bathroom was confused as to whether it was a toilet or shower, but the bed was comfortable and pillows soft. There was no service for the room, and we would have loved a new towel. The location is a live-wire of sights, sounds and smells as the hotel is in the heart of Little India with transport options close by and yummy, cheap food options. Overall, a good experience.
Durty room, old beding.
Toillete seat broken and notified never fixed.
Neighborhoud ejemmm.
Great: MRT/Metro stop super close 80m.

It’s an average 3 or 2 star hotel.
Inexpensive for Singapore. Singapore accommodation cost is amongst the highest the world world. Selected this hotel as it was near a MRT station and only needed a night stay.

When i booked the stay no were it said it is a shared bath room. when i landed there they said it is a shared bath room. I had to pay additional amount to convert the room to pvt bath room
The room was very small and filthy. The washroom sink was clogged there was no hand soap. The booking was for three people, we had one bed between three of us. Spoke to the front desk she informed me there would be a cost of $40.00 for a foldable bed. If I booked for 3 adults why should I have to pay for the third adult. Extra towels were not offered. No waste baskets in the washroom. I was very disappointed.

Not worth at all.
Hotel looks quite nice in the picture. In reality it has a reception that opens on the Road.. No aircon. So if one has to wait for some time to get the room, there is no place to sit. Overall not worth the price. Folks at reception are of no help at all. They have stock answers for any and every query.
It was a very bad experience for us. As we were three of us staying, the largest room offered was at the ground floor right next to the bar which remained noisy almost all night long. The days laundry was stored right in front of the door making it difficult to walk through. Rooms are not cleaned unless asked for. No phone in the room so if you need anything, be prepared to walk to the front desk. Some people at the reception weren’t polite at all. Better hotels available at this rate so why waste your hard earned money?
Room was visibly dirty, towels had stains on them, floor and bath tubs had stains on them.
Area around room was noisy, people talking in neighbouring building till 5am.
Seevice was dissappinting , asked for some ice, was told to go and buy it myself at a nearby 711
The hotel must advertise clearer that some rooms are shared bathroom ... i arrived to realise i had booked wrong room, and was then charged a premium which took me past entry and mid level hotel prices for Singapore ... as a client you AWAYS feel used, if not abused.
A hotel with good to outstanding customer service would have upgraded me at no cost ... securing a repeat customer, and a good review - a shame.
Front office staff seemed not empowered to make a decision like this or lacked that extra bit of customer focus. Even a small fee would have been okay. A high premium a no perhaps!
Building is not properly maintained as there were peeling paint not touched up. Sheets were also stained and there was a weird smell when I went into my room. The counter staff was also very slow in facilitating my check in.
I booked this hotel for February 1st to February 4th, 2025
Unfortunately, I had to check out after just one night due to multiple issues that significantly impacted my stay:
1. Room Cleanliness – The room was dusty and unclean, making it uncomfortable to stay in.
2. Noise Disturbance – The poor soundproofing made it difficult to sleep as loud music from a nearby club persisted until 3–4 a.m.
3. Safety Concerns – My room was located on the first floor, and the emergency door facing the back street was tampered with by an unknown individual, raising serious security concerns.
I raised these concerns with the hotel staff, but they only offered an apology without any resolution, such as a room change or alternative accommodations. Given the unacceptable conditions and lack of support, I had no choice but to leave the hotel and find alternative lodging.
If you want to ruin your holiday, please book this room
I was a horrible stay. Me and my fiancé actually did a very last minute booking, so this i could say was our fault. But we werent aware that the room booked was a hostel instead of the usual hotel rooms. Upon arrival we were greeted by being locked outside for a good 10 mins until a occupier came to go back to him room with the access card.
Upon reaching the reception, i had to call the hotline to get the receptionist to come out attend to us. If thats not the worst, the receptionist told us we need to deposit $100 in CASH. Which was not stated anywhere during our booking that is needs to be in cash. Please enlighten who will be holding $100 cash everytime?
She told us to go to the nearby 7-11 to withdraw, upon arrival at 7-11 they werent able to withdraw such an amount. So me and my fiancé had to walk all the way to bencoleen plaza to withdraw cash at the nearest atm.
Came back ti the receptionist with sweat all over and passed her the cash. She passed us the card and directed us to the hostel main door. Which i was taken aback, since when i book hostel?
To my disappointment, it was indeed a hostel room with shared bathroom!!!! Wasnt indicated on my booking! We paid about $80 plus for this? Are you serious?
We didnt stay at all, me and my fiancé checked out within the next 30 minutes and promised to never come back here or recommend anyone for this place. No proper indication of the room details and such. What a terrible led down.
