Great place, they put me in the best bed in the room, the shower was what I would expect, and the toilet worked and had no trouble, the bug water was priced very nicely, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would go back to this place again!
I liked that I booked the woman’s room, and they fixed the mistake and put me in the mixed room, also when i saw a bug in my bed they changed the bedding, they are all very hospitable and friendly. I only didn’t like that the bed above me had its light shining through the crack and lit up where my head is. But I don’t have a problem now!

Cheap hostel in Chinatown on the second floor. Quite small. 2 showers. Friendly staff but they weren't available for check in when I arrived around 4 pm
Enjoyed my time there, very friendly service. Awesome view downtown. Everything was close.

Good if only there is no bedbugs
The owner takes care of the air through to avoid humidity and make it dray, guests are more quiet than I used to stay before and near the MRT and a tourist information, so no problems if only there is no bedgugs..
Every night I got some marks because of it, after 2 weeks I left the hostel, I still have the inflammations and itchiness.
Room too small for 10 People. No air condition during the day. Breakfast ( only toastbread ) too small.
Its really loud. You can hear Everything. Hiden costs ( card for entry) !!!
The onl positive was The Location ( China town) And The receptionist Lady.
Cheap price, not well managed, dirty sheets and bathroom, BED BUGSSS!!! I got bitten all over my body but couldn't do anything as there are no other bed/room to change. And I found baby cockroach crawling on the wall! Couldn't stand the night and sleepless.I left the hostel without a refund and change to another lodging place first thing in the morning.
Located on the first floor of an old building, not easy to see from outside. Walking distance to MRT, Chinatown happenings and local eateries. But security is not OK, my advice -if you really want to stay here- bring extra padlock for your locker to safeguard your belongings as you can't really lock the room door with other room-sharing guests getting in and out. The receptionist is nice but she is not available there all the time. Breakfast is bread with jam. You can make your own drinks but cups and all are dirty.

Good hostel to talk with other guests
I had a great stay at the Fernloft Chinatown. Although I was staying there for a month, I felt like that the fernloft Chinatown was like a home rather than hostel. The staff is very friendly and thoughtful. They provide you a good service and information about Singapore. I also enjoyed talking with other guests as the room is much more spacious than other hostels.
I got in around 12noon and no one was manning the reception when I got there. A guy eventually appears and he says that he doesn't really work there but his wife does, but she's not there yet. He calls her on the phone and they have a small argument on the phone while I look on. He asks me to talk to her over the phone to check in. The hostel has a distinct smell. It hits you as you enter the place, and as you'll soon find out, that smell pervades everywhere -- in the pillows, the sheets. From the way the sheets are crumpled and the smell, I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't done laundry in a long time. I wanted to get out of there when I saw (and smelled) the state of things but I have just dragged my heavy luggage to that second floor and I just had no energy/money to move again, so I toughed it up for 3 whole days. Other things: The aircon units leak, in the room and in the lobby. I wake up with a smallish aircon leak flood in the lobby and no one has bothered to mop it up. Same goes for 3 days worth of trash in the lobby. No toilet paper, the toilet reeks of urine, the two shower cubes are tiny. A tiny room that is supposed to hold only 4 beds, has 6 beds, so there is barely room for luggage. The lockers have no locks. No sign of any housekeeping activities at all. There is one sink to brush your teeth and wash your utensils, and it's two steps away from the reception desk. I pity the next person who makes a mistake of booking this place.
Staff did not manage to perform in according to SOPs. The door was intentionally leave opened for some of the guests without pass code. Also, the door cannot close properly sometimes. Thus, leaving a chance for the burglar stealing valuables of guests and hostels. Items had been reportedly missing multiple times . However, management did not take actions against or help in the guests with missing items. Disappointing. In addition, many regulars can enter freely into the hostels to take a shower etc.

Recommendable place to stay in :)
Apart from having quite difficulty finding the location as it is on second floor and cornermost of the building, the attenttion and utmost assistance of Bryan made me feel really at home and at ease with Fernloft considering its my first time in a bunk hostel. Its very accessible to MRT, close to shops and budget resto. Personally, I think the amenities could be better (the shower heater on first shower room must be repaired) but nonetheless I still find it value for money.
the location is next to china town, city center. It's very convenient to get any food and anything is cheaper here. The staff is very friendly to help everything.

I will come back next time
Hiding in the building this difficult to found
but there has lockers is quite convenient
Considering the hostel is located in a residence tower block, centrally in Chinatown there is no bother at all, from the locals, and easily conformable to come and go, as you would at home! Possibly been the best stay I've had in a while.
Wifi is also the best I've experienced.
