The COVID-19 outbreak has changed the way we travel, but it hasn't curbed our eagerness for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to handle the new challenges of travelling:

• Investigate the restrictions and rules in both your origin and destination. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so check government advisories before booking.
• When you go through airport checkpoints, keep your face mask on. You will be required to lower it briefly to verify your identity. Those who refuse to wear a mask may be fined and denied entry.
• Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, position it directly on the reader yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA now allows passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will have to be removed from your bag and submitted for screening.
• To reduce handling during the screening process, put items such as your phone, wallet and keys into your carry-on rather than into the bins.
• Transport your food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping food separate from your carry-on makes it less likely that a TSA employee will need to touch and open your bag for inspection.
