Bear Den-Secluded 2 Bedroom Cabin Located in the Hiawatha National Forest.

Welcome to the middle of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Hiawatha National Forest. This newly remodeled cabin can sleep 5 comfortably with two bedrooms; one with a queen bed, the other a bunk with full and twin size beds, one full bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen to start your day off with a coffee and make any meal of the day, as well as a living room complete with a working fireplace and television with dvd player. Behind the home you will find a firepit and a picnic table, roast marshmallows and enjoy the view of the lake. In front of the home there is a standing charcoal grill for guests to use. This cabin is located between Munising and Grand Marais on the scenic drive of H-58 along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore as well as being located on the ATV and Snowmobile Trails so you can leave right from the cabin. There is parking in the driveway for trailers but no room to turn around so you would have to back in or out. However, we do have the bottom of the driveway plowed out as well for easier trailer parking.
Hike around and see the sites all day then come home to your own cabin in the woods where you can grill out on the deck overlooking the lake and roast marshmallows over the bonfire listening to the loons at night. Please note **This cabin is located in the Hiawatha National Forest, in the woods, where there are animals and critters. You may see a mouse or a spider in the cabin during your stay. We do everything we can to disinfect, clean and prevent any critters from accessing the cabin. However, we cannot guarantee Mickey Mouse won't peak around the corner and say hello. Also, a new water filtration system has been installed. It reprograms/flushes every 500 gallons which can be very loud and disturbing for about an hour.

***There is a doorbell camera mounted at the entryway outside.

***Door code will be released the day of check-in for security purposes.

***If you are booking through Airbnb or VRBO you will receive a separate contract from Pictured Rocks Vacation Rentals. In order to receive check-in information you will be required to sign this.

We were looking for a place to get away from it all and Bears Den was it. Property manager Sabrina made us very comfortable with check in, check out, and any questions we had along the way. We really appreciated the purified water dispenser as the well water in this region is very heavy in iron

The snowmobile trails were easy to get to. It snowed a couple times during our stay and a man came and took care of clearing the snow in the driveway each time. The street it is located on did not get plowed right away by the county, so I am glad we had a 4WD truck.

Outstanding modernized cabin deep the forest. Full kitchen with gas stove, toaster, microwave and large-capacity coffeemaker. Main heat source is the gas fireplace, which quickly warms the living area. Bed was outstanding. Amply provided with towels and washcloths. Despite its fairly isolated location is easy to find and only a mile from the main road (H58). You're in the wilds here, and the stars are bright at night. Highly recommended.

Nice cabin

Check in was a breeze and we were impressed with the cleanliness of the unit and the view of the lake. The cabin is in an awesome location. However, the map listed on VRBO did not match the location that we ended up at. It was still a nice area but it was on a different lake than what showed up on the map. We were also given written directions to the cabin as the address provided wouldn’t even lead you to the correct place. This was not a huge deal but it would be nice to have an accurate location and an address you can actually follow to the cabin.

The cabin was clean and had the basic needed supplies expected for cooking had extra blankets might need more big towels for a family. We were only disappointed that there wasn't a good way to get to the lake to fish from the property with what we had didn't want to risk getting muddy without an outdoor hose to clean off with. Good place for bird watching as we seen plenty of water birds and even a humming bird Definitely a good central location for explorering the Pictured Rocks area

We were completely snowed in and were unable to go anywhere and still had the best time relaxing by the fire. A local man made sure we were plowed out when it was time to leave. There are lots of extra blankets, board games, videos and the kids bedroom even has a packNplay to use. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 for the condition was a couple of small things, like the shower bottom could be recaulked, the arm chairs are a little worn, the master bedroom could use another bedside table, and the stove flame is a little weak. But these little things in no way diminished our stay and we would definitely stay here again.

We had 4 adults staying here and loved that the cabin is stocked with everything you need and is really private and quiet. The lake had lots of wildlife. We heard loons, a barred owl, tree frogs and saw two swans. We were able to enjoy a fire outside in the provided fire ring. We stayed three nights and traveled from one end of Pictured Rocks to the other taking in all the sights. I would highly recommend this place for a quiet get away.

At first we were a little concerned about the directions to get there and how remote it was going to be but just follow the directions given by Pictured Rocks Vaca rentals and you won't have any trouble. Once there we were excited about the picturesque location. Beautiful fall foliage and Crooked lake. We saw Trumpeter Swans each day on the lake. The cabin was spotlessly clean, not even one bug! That was a pleasant surprize considering you are in the woods.The decor was perfect for the "Bear Den". Plenty of towels, bedding was very comfortable too.Nice blankets for those cooler nights. A few DVD's and games were problems with internet or TV while at the cabin. The staff responded in a reasonable time to answer any questions we had. They are very clear with the directions for arriving and leaving.We enjoyed the cabin so much we are planning to visit again next October.Thank you for a lovely, relaxing stay.Suggestions to future renters: bring your own local firewood for the firepit, charcoal for the grill out front.
