Nebraska life
Perfect respite when traveling across I-80 to get a taste of Nebraska life. Just off the Interstate, nicely decorated in hunting motif, pasture view from bedroom window. Owners & 2 farm dogs very welcoming, barn is very pet friendly. Owners will contain their dogs if they bother, but we found them fun & part of the Nebraska life theme!!

Loved it but…
It faces towards their property and the highways right there, which you can hear really well at night because there’s nothing blocking the sound which made it a little difficult for me to sleep. However, that is a personal preference. I just wish that I had known it was that close to the highway. Other than that I really enjoyed it in the bed super comfortable.

Great place to crane watch from
Comfortable and clean place to stay. We were able to walk out and view the cranes around dawn and it was spectacular. I was somewhat uncomfortable in the bed but the stay was so nice I couldn’t take a full star off of the review.

Peaceful Dog-Friendly Place
Quiet, unfussy place to stay... perfect for those traveling with dogs. Full of character; clean and comfortable. Host was very responsive. I look forward to staying here again!

Great Location for Seeing the Sandhill Cranes
We enjoyed our stay. It was very comfortable. The living room/kitchen is spacious. The bed was a very firm memory foam mattress. The dogs were very friendly when we arrived. The apartment reminded us of a hunting camp. It was decorated with lots of bird & deer trophies. The location was very convenient to the Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary.

Location plus comfort
Well suited for exploring the crane activities on and off the Platte. Alie is super responsive. The property is comfortably decorated and furnished with everything one could need for a short stay. We enjoyed it!

Sandhill Crane Excursion
My wife and I stayed here so we could watch the Sandhill Crane migration. The property is wonderful. It's clean and setup with everything we needed to cook and enjoy our time. The location is absolutely ideal for viewing the migration. The owners are really nice and their farm dogs are very friendly!

This was an excellent place to come and view the sand hill cranes. Nearby drive saw hundreds of bird both daytime and evening and early am. Place was very clean and comfortable. Kitchen was nice to do a little meal making on our own. Recommend this with 5 stars.

4.9 stars should be rated a lot less.
I don't understand how this rental got 4.9 stars. It was not a advertized. Cons: Dirty microwave, grease on tray and door. Had to clean before using. Refrigerator door shelves had dried jelly on them. Had to clean before using. Kitchen sink had scum in the bootom. Did not clean but used a small tub that was provided to do dishes. Don't sit on the couch!!! Full of crumbs and who knows what else under the cushions. Bed we could not even sleep on. Very bad mattress. Had to find a top sheet to put on the bed before we knew we couldn't sleep on the bed. 2 big dogs would jump up on you. I am a dog lover and our son fosters dogs. But that is a big turnoff. You can teach them at any age to not jump up on you. For sandhill crane watchers the blind is a waste of time. Go to the Platz viewing area and see more sandhill cranes than at the blind. Noise from the interstate was loud. Those where the worse offending things. More to list but will not list everything. Pros: The decor was awesome! The bathroom was pretty clean. I had e-mailed the owners through VRBO and never heard a thing from them after our departure addressing my concerns. No communication after leaving. I hope the next people renting this place have a better experience than we did. We will not be retuning to this place ever again.

Thanks for the feedback. The mattress is brand new, so I'm sorry to hear that it didn't meet your standards. As for the blind on the river, we can't dictate the migration patterns of birds or the vegetation that grows on the sandbars in the river, so unfortunately, that is out of our control. As far as communication, I responded to all of your messages. We do have two very friendly farm dogs on the property. Sorry to hear that they bothered you that much. We would have kenneled them had we known they were such an inconvenience to you. Good luck with your next VRBO stay somewhere else!

Perfect for Cranes and Eagles
Such a perfect location for Crane-watching! Such an added perk to see so many Bald Eagles, as well. The Crane Nature Center definitely got us started on the right track, with the scenic drive along the river.

Convenient for Cranes!
Great location, convenient for both the Rowe Sanctuary and the Crane Trust. The house was comfy and clean. We and our dog enjoyed playing with the big, friendly dogs.

Cross country trip from Philadelphia to Fort Collins
Even though it was only a 1 night stay, we loved it. Also, our 2 cats felt at ease in the new surroundings. We loved the big tv screen as we were able to watch the World Series. We highly recommend it.

Saved us!
Our family has an annual camping trip every year and I am not a tent lady so I rented this cabin for me. Thursday and Friday night were terrible with low temps and horrible winds. We asked Alie if she would mind if my family stayed with me those 2 nights and she didn't hesitate to say yes! We had so much fun playing cards and hanging out. The view is beautiful and the decor is really cool. My niece loved the different deer mounts and guessed that some were from different countries! Would DEFINITELY recommend staying here and am planning on coming back next year!!

Traveling with hunting dogs
Ideal place to stay with dogs. It was spacious, clean, and relatively easy to get to (you have a few miles of gravel roads). From the online photos I thought the pond and large field was right outside of the building. I had hoped to let our dogs run a bit. However, the place with the blind is actually down the road a ways. I would have liked to stay a few days and explore…it’s a pretty part of Nebraska and there’s lots of wildlife to see. It would be a great home base for a couple hunting or touring the area. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen set up nicely. The only thing they forgot was shampoo and a hair dryer….otherwise very well stocked.

We stayed here for 1 night while traveling to Colorado. When we arrived, 3 friendly and excited dogs met us, making it difficult to get out of the car. Our dog was overwhelmed with the greeting. However, the host came immediately out and put the dogs away so we could get settled. The space is nice but we did notice it wasn't super clean. The shower had hair in it and there were dead flies throughout the space. The bed was uncomfortable, more firm than we are used to. Overall, this was an ok stay. The hosts were very responsive, nice and helped us with an issue.

Quick stopover
This was a great spot for a quick stop over on our way from Iowa to Colorado. Since we were on a mission to get home we did not spend much time there, arriving at dark mid evening and leaving early morning. The apartment was very comfortable. My only complaint would be that it’s quite close to I 80 and the highway is visible from the front, so road noise but that did not bother us while we were inside. We didn’t have time to enjoy the area back on the river. It is a short drive or walk from the property. We had our two little terriers with us, and it was great to have a pet friendly property!

Barndominium guest house
This barndominium guest house is as-advertised, clean and comfortable. Only four stars because the owners have two friendly, but exuberant outdoor dogs which made it somewhat difficult to unload our travel bags and coolers while trying to keep them from jumping on us or climbing in our vehicle.

Rural Gem
Much better than a motel room! Lots of space, comfortable furniture, good kitchen area for those of us who don't like eating out all the time. Most VRBO's are more expensive than a motel room unless you stay at least 3 or 4 nights. A 2-night stay cost us much less than the cost per night in a mid-range motel in Kearney. The rural location is quiet, great to be able to take a walk on the road and enjoy beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We'll definitely try to stay here again!

Nicely decorated. Neat set up. Has a hunting shack feel. Bed was uncomfortable, we slept on the couch and recliner the last half of the night. Also has a pest issue (crickets). Property is just off the freeway. Freeway is very loud.

We did not know what to expect when I booked this. We were impressed! We named it “The Barn” and have booked another stay for November. It was very clean and the owner was very responsive. We loved the location and the view was gorgeous. Highly recommend staying here is you are in this area.

Spacious and well-appointed location for crane viewing.
Great location near bird sanctuaries for crane viewing. The blind at the property was in a really picturesque spot and already set up with chairs for us. Our dogs were allowed as well, which is a huge bonus to me!

Clean, quiet, and comfortable. You’re close to the interstate, but I can’t hear any traffic noise inside the building. We came to kearney for a hockey game and didn’t want to stay in town if we could help it. This place was perfect and the host was awesome. We would definitely stay again.
