The Holmes The large flat area inside the sweeping bend of the River Trent past Burton Joyce.
Field footpath This links Waterfurrows Lane and Julian Lane, and provides an alternative to the waymarked Trent Valley Way through the village of Shelford.
Gibbet Hill The highest point for some way round, it would have been an obvious place to display the victims of justice.
It's No Joke The woodland on the hillside is called No Joke Plantation; I'd love to know what the derivation of the name is.

Breakfast was good. White Company toiletries were a nice touch. You can see they are investing in upgrading the hotel, and in time the star rating could go up. I would stay there again.
