Stunning!
Staying at the cabin is such an amazing experience. The location is stunning and the cabin is gorgeous! This was the place we were most excited to stay at during our trip, and it did not disappoint! Will definitely be back one day!!

the views + beautiful hiking trail are amazing!
We had our "annual ladies trip" at Granite Point! As many of the other reviews point out: yes, the stairs are really something to be aware of (very steep; not safe for anyone with any physical ailments, & small children would make me very nervous). The views from the cabin/fire pit are indeed amazing! The hike behind the property is very steep, but truly incredibly beautiful (we are all from AK and really loved this hike). We were very grateful for the kitchen & all of it's amenities (it had everything we needed). It is worth noting (since we were not aware of this) that Granite Point is *not* secluded; the camp fire area is pretty close to the other cabin (we often heard the dog barking at cabin next door / kid crying next door) and people from the other cabins have to walk through your space to get own to the beach or up to the hiking trail. It did not feel as secluded as we thought we'd be; so it's worth noting to others who are wanting that experience. The compostable toilet smells really pretty bad and we were told to only use it in emergency situations (so you use outhouse). Due to the smell of toilet inside, it makes you not want to use the shower either. We were okay with not showering for two days - but just something to be aware of. Levi - the groundskeeper/property manager - was helpful with providing information and anything we needed. It was convenient to have kayaks/SUPs provided on site. Thanks for providing us with beautiful views & experiences for our annual trip!

We had a fabulous stay. It was everything we expected and more; great hiking, beautiful views, kayaking was the best, the lodge was exceptional! The property manager was friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met. He even showed up with fresh caught fish for us!! Delicious!! We would definitely come back for another stay. And we will tell all our friends about this wilderness escape! Thank you for sharing your little piece of Heaven!

Amazing Lodge, Worth the Climb!!!
We held our wedding here and it was absolutely gorgeous! The campfire area is just below the cabin, not down on the beach as we thought, which was great because it was super convenient for those who didn't want to go up and down. Folks should be aware that it is quite the trek up stairs and uneven ground to get there though, so it was a workout with all the food and gear for the wedding. Completely worth it though!! Levi was a great host, filling us in on various things and helping out when he could. The views were incredible and the setting was unlike anything I've experienced. And I grew up in Alaska, so I've seen a lot of amazing views. The beach was really fun too, hunting for sea glass and hanging out in the sun. Folks should know that you can't take the kayaks or paddleboards out without Levi's help or a guide though, for safety reasons. We loved our visit and can't wait to see the wedding pictures. Our family was visiting from everywhere (Maui to New Hampshire) and all said it was better than they could have imagined.

This place is awesome! hot showers in an off grid mountain cabin! pack moderately because its a hike up quite a bit of stairs to get up to the lodge. we rented a boat but there is a water taxi if you don't have a boat. Jeff was great to work with and so was all of his help. Levi is the caretaker and he is a great person to have around up there. we saw all kinds of wildlife while were out there. cant say enough good things about this place. i would love to come back here again someday!

Remote and Amazing
Jeff, thank you for building and sharing this place with others. This was the perfect getaway location for us. We were a little worried about the steps, but made it just fine. The setting is even better than pictures can capture. During our 3 night stay, we enjoyed sitting by the firepit taking in the amazing view, watching and listening to humpback blow their spout and splash in the water sea lions yelling, otters playing, Dall porpoise jumping, cruise ships pass by and bald eagles fly just overhead. This is our kind of "roughing it". We had water, electricity and comfortable beds and couches along with a full kitchen, plus the outdoor area with plenty of seating. Thank you also Jeff for encouraging us to spend at least one of our full days enjoying the property (I originally planned activities in/around Seward each day) but decided to adjust and leave one full day with no plans...it was a great and memorable day). We all wish we would have had added 1 more day to just enjoy the property. The water taxi was great, and we were blessed with great weather. Overall, my wife was a little concerned about this part of the trip since it is a bit out of our comfort zone, but absolutely loved it once we got there. Be sure to plan appropriately...there are a lot of stairs, but it is absolutely manageable. We left our big luggage in the car and just packed what we knew we needed in backpacks and duffel bags. We brought just enough but not too much food, and a few bundles of firewood. It was the highlight of our alaska trip which included some incredible experiences in Juneau, Denali and Whittier. We all say just being at the lodge was the best part of the whole trip. Thanks again Jeff for building and sharing this place.

Incredible experience for Alaskans, too!
From booking to departure, this was an excellent experience. We booked the “lodge” for two nights for 4 people and it was amazing. Be aware, the steps up to the cabins can be challenging when you have coolers and bags with you. Be prepared for all kinds of weather but don’t overpack, either. Jeff was so helpful any time we needed him including helping us out when one of us capsized on the kayak out in the bay. We had an amazing time exploring the area, relaxing in and outside of the property and taking in all of the whimsical details around the cabins. We saw otters and orcas, lots of sea urchins and star fish, and collected many pieces of sea glass from the beach. People tend to leave their condiments and other items behind so you’ll have lots of additional food items and ingredients to choose from- don’t take your whole kitchen with you if you’re staying in the lodge. Just the essentials! There is a shower and a composting toilet but you’re encouraged not to use them so come prepared for adventure and just embrace the stink. The “facilitrees” could use some lime maybe but the whole experience is truly Alaskan. Breathtaking and impressive. What Jeff has created is truly special. We are so happy to have stumbled across this property. Thank you, Jeff, for giving us such an amazing place to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary! We will definitely be back.

Dangerous, but amazingly fun! Loved it, but know...
Views, watersports we kayaked and were in the water everyday & experience were priceless. Loved it. That said, people should know the stairs are very steep and very long. Main lodge does have a composting toilet, but they want you to use the outhouse. Advertised a very isolated, which it is, but there are other cabins around you. Water taxi ends up being $50-100 per person not trip.

Amazing views, very clean cabin. Host very responsive and helpful. Well-stocked kitchen with gas appliances. The trail up the mountain is well marked and a great adventure. No wifi and almost no cell data service (which is fine by us, just be prepared).

Perfect Alaska Wilderness Retreat
Our family of 4 (kids 15 and 18) stayed 3 nights in the Lodge. It was very clean, comfortable, and the location is amazing! We saw an orca whale, sea lions, dolphins, bald eagles, and frequent fish jumping. We used the kayaks often, made campfires each evening, and spend time truly relaxing! A few tips - there are many steps (but very manageable with multiple trips or light packing), shower is great in lodge (outhouse is the bathroom), kitchen is well stocked with spices, condiments, and essentials. If you want to fish, plan to bring all of your supplies (some supplies may be left from past guests, but we understand they are not supplied by the lodge). Overall wonderful trip and we hope to return some day!

My favorite place in the world?
I've been to Granite Point six times now...and I don't live in Alaska. Is there really anything else to say? This time, within a couple hours of arrival, we watched a pod of Orcas swim by the bluff. I really can't say enough about the place, and Jeff is a gracious, charming, helpful host. If you're wondering whether to stay here, stop and just book the place now.

Rented the Lodge, the Fox Den and Pepper Creek Cabin for 2 nights with our immediate family and close friends. Had an amazing time with amazing weather! The cabins and Lodge were beautiful and had everything we needed. The Lodge even had a shower and compost toilet. I would highly recommend this location to anybody wanting an Alaskan experience. Wish we could’ve stayed longer but can’t wait to come back!

With covid 19, we were looking for a safe place to stay while still being able to enjoy the beauty of Resurrection Bay. This place was perfect! Arranging the water taxi was easy and the entire grounds were impeccable. You don't get total privacy like that many places in the world. One day we kayaked to Porcupine Glacier, then next to Fox Island and saw a humpback breach! The place has everything you could need, and felt very comfortable. It was a one of a kind stay!

Spectacular!
This place is truly breathtaking. My husband and I took out the kayaks and fished about 200 yards off shore and caught several rock fish, lincod, small halibut and a few other kinds of fish. You can hike on a few trails by the lodge or take the kayaks around the bay and hike there as well. It is easy to get to and from the mainland. Either by water taxi or helicopter. We did both.

It doesn't get any better than this!
Jeff's lodge at Granite Point is a unique experience that will provide you with lifetime memories. It's hard to know where to start in describing our stay. We were a party of 8 who stayed in the main house on the property. The house is just like the pictures, comfortable and elegant for a cabin in a remote location. There is electricity, hot running water, with a gas stove and oven, along with a refrigerator. Indoors is a shower and a new compost toilet for ladies. (After all of the women in our party read the instructions they all elected to use the outhouse, which was kept very clean.) You do not go to Granite Point to stay in the house. This is located in nature at its best. My 18 year old nephew said the part he enjoyed best was hanging out around the fire pit and enjoying the views all day long. The scenery is totally awesome. I need to add that I asked him what he liked best about our trip which included a full day boat trip seeing a glacier calving, wild orcas and all sorts of other neat things, along with a tour of Mitch Seavey's Iditarod dog kennels and his highlight was hanging out and enjoying the immense beauty that surrounds Granite Point. It is really hard to beat. While we were at Granite Point we hiked, kayaked and explored the tidepools directly below the main house. Sitting outside at the edge of the bluff we enjoyed watching sea lions, seals, and whales swim by. One day we got to see a bald eagle catch a fish in the ocean and then share it with their mate and a juvenile bald eagle. Another day we watched a humpback across the bay breaching and fluking for approximately 30 minutes. Jeff is very responsive to texts and emails as he made sure we had a wonderful stay. Take the time when you arrive to read his guest book which describes some of the features of the main lodge. You want to make sure you keep the water tank full and it is a really easy process. With 8 people it took us two days to empty it before it had to be refilled. We had varying degrees as to how well our cellphones worked there. All of us could text, but most of us could not attach pictures to the texts. Internet on the phones was spotty. Jeff has a booster which we read about near the end of our stay and it did help. You are there to enjoy nature and get away from your cares in life, so this was not a major issue. We wanted to share pics of what we were experiencing with our friends to let them be jealous of what we were experiencing!

Granite Point Mountain Lodge is AMAZING!
The perfect getaway! Just a short boat ride from town, GPML is easy to get to yet remote and off the grid. The lodge has all the comforts of home - electricity, running water (hot shower, anyone?), refrigerator/freezer, propane oven and stove, and all of the dishes/pots & pans, etc. There is an outhouse in place of your traditional indoor restroom. The view from this place is incredible. We had a bonfire in the evening and took it all in. It was easy to find driftwood on the beach for burning. There is a trail that takes you up on the ridgeline way above the lodge. The views from up top are breathtaking! We even saw a couple of black bears and bald eagles. I wish we'd booked an extra night - would have loved to take out the kayaks that are provided for the guests! We will definitely be coming back here!

Good for people who wants to stay away from city life
First let me start with good things about lodge. Great location, clean, have facilities like kayaking, food, water, view, bonfire, really cool owner. Below are my opinions: - Extra money to get here as you need to take water taxi (extra extra money if you are not by 6pm for water taxi). - Need to climb around 150-200 steps up hill with luggage. - No Wifi. - No Toilet attached (away from lodge , like a out-house, smells bad and not good what you pay). - Water usage is restricted, so no or sponge bath only. - On Medical emergency you don't have anyone as you are 10 mile away from Seward. - Everyday you need to cook your food, also you need to pack out your trash and dump in Seward. When I am paying $500 -600 per night I rather be in luxury hotel & relax instead of all these struggles.

This is a remote wilderness lodge- the point is to get away from the city into the wilderness. (It pays to read the description of the property so there are no surprises:)) The amazing water taxi or helicopter flight out is an incredible bonus mission to say the least (and a very exciting aspect of a remote wilderness lodge) There is exactly 73 steps up 4 flights of stairs and a short trail (very easy mission for most humans) to reach the lodge and it’s breathtaking view. Water is not restricted and there is a full service hot water shower in the lodge. Cooking your own food in the gourmet kitchen is super fun and not surprising if you read the description. Just read every other review ever written about the lodge:)! Cheers!

Stunning view and impressive accommodations for the remote location!
Not for the faint of heart! Be prepared to carry your load up steep stairs and trails to get to the cabin. There are many stairs and probably not safe for children. It is so beautiful! We watched humpback whales every day, spouting and feeding right in front of the cabin. The friendly harbor seal followed us on our kayak venture to thumb cove. Definitely recommend for the more adventurous traveler!

Impressive View
This cabin is impressively nice for how hard it is to get to. The water taxi was a little sketchy because of the swells and the stars are steep. All of this made the view and the cabin even more impressive when reached. Really scratched my head wondering how he got the couches up here. We had 5 adults and two kids under 5 and we all slept very comfortably ....well sort of. Our 10 month old kept us up all night, but that wasn't the cabins fault. Saw a whale too super close. This place is pretty epic. Only knock on it is that he should get a quieter and smoother water pump. But hey, there was water which is pretty impressive. A note for others, there is cell coverage here, but expect very little data if any.

One of my most memorable travel experiences ever!
The Granite Point Mountain Lodge turned out to be everything we hoped it would be. The lodge was beautiful, the views were incredible, and the natural setting in which it stands was more than I expected. The natural beauty around the lodge was beyond words. My wife and I kept finding ourselves standing along the short trail from the lodge to the beach trying to take it all in. And we must have spent hours looking out at the view from inside the lodge. The fishing from the shore and from Jeff's kayaks was excellent. There were a number of kayaks to choose from which we found convenient for our level of inexperience, but we became confident enough during our short stay that we ventured over to Thumb Cove for more gorgeous scenery. We enjoyed viewing plenty of marine life. There seemed to be a seal living off the beach below Jeff's property. It followed us around once or twice while we were out on the kayaks. Seward has long been one of my favorite places in the world. We came back to it and stayed at GPML looking for a unique and memorable experience. We left Seward this time with an experience we'll never forget!

Watching Whales by the fire over Resurrection Bay. Oh my.
Wow. This place has to visited to believe. The views from the lodge are breathtaking, the beach is intimate, yet large and intricate enough for fantastic beachcombing. Sitting on the rocks we watched humpbacks, otters, and countless waterbirds living their lives. Pepper Creek cascades down the mountainside emptying into Resurrection Bay. Pepper Creek is your water source during your stay. The lodge is off-grid, but so dialed in you would not know it. The patio in front of the lodge atop the cliff offers vistas that never tire. The light, the water, the wildlife, the energy from this perch is one of the most amazing places on the planet. Jeff Erickson, the owner, is the real deal. The man has lived and lived large. He not only has true, Alaskan, adventure stories to share, but is a great listener as well. Jeff is there for the visitor and will alleviate any anxiety or concerns. This place is remote, but at the same time, within an hour boat ride to the safe harbor of Seward. This is in the Alaskan wilderness with all the comforts of home. The best nights of sleep in my life rolling over with bird songs, lapping waves, the occasional lobtail, and quiet. If you are thinking about this lodge, stop thinking and do it.
