Some cobwebs in rooms and on fans. Some pans in kitchen were rusted and/or so scratched that they should be thrown out. Otherwise, the place was average. The property is high on a hill, so not necessarily good for walking our dog, but we made it work. As advertised, we did see bear; several, in fact. There was plenty of room with 3 floors and a bedroom on each floor.
Amazing cabin high in the mountain with lots of bears!
We had an amazing stay at the cabin. We loved every minute of the cabin! We had 7 people stay at the cabin and had plenty of space for everyone. We saw bears every day. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The AC worked great, and we all had hot water for showers. Papa Wolf was wonderful and made sure we enjoyed our stay. The road to get to the cabin was challenging for us, but once we learned how to navigate it, we had no problems. I would 100% stay here again.
Really enjoyed our stay in this cabin! The view from the deck is really beautiful, and we even saw a couple of bears in the back yard. House is large, stocked, and comfortable. Don’t worry if you forget your pillow, this house has a lot of extra ones!
For young families - our mini van made it up the mountain to the house (summer and some rain), but there were some prayers on the way up! Since we visit so often, we will be switching out the ol’ mini asap 😂
Advertised a pool table but didn’t have one which was one of the main activities we look for in a cabin. Lesson learned, won’t stay at a cabin by just the listing!! Otherwise, the cabin was wonderful. We did ask for a later checkout and was not charged for it!! We saw bears within an hour of getting to the cabin!! Overall it was a great getaway even without the pool table.
This was our 2nd time in Tennessee. The first time out here, we fell in love with Wears Valley. It exudes everything you imagine Tennessee would be. The house was super spacious. Considering that there were 2 families staying there, it never felt like we were on top of each other. We had visitors. Mamma bear and her cubs with the random appearance of a racoon. The view was breathtaking. The owners were easy to work with and quick to respond. If you're not familiar with the roads of Tennessee, plan your arrival accordingly. The initial trek up to the cabin can be difficult if arriving at night
The property was great. We had a few things that were not as stated. The stove top was broken. The refrigerator drawers were broken. The owners were aware and were working to get those fixed. I guess that's part of owing a rental sometimes things get broken. It could have been a little cleaner there was some pet hair on the floors. We went to DG and got a broom it swept up easily. The cabin over all was great. If you want to see bears it the place to stay. We saw bears each day. One friendly bear decided that he wanted to use my granddaughters sippy cup she left one the deck. The children loved seeing the bears. The view was amazing. The road up to the cabin could be challenging especially at night for those who are not used the steep curvy roads. Parking was great even with two full size trucks and two SUVs. Close to Pigeon Forge and close to the state park. The drive to Cades Cove was about 1hour and 15 minutes.
My family of three stayed at this cabin for a week, and it is an authentic older cabin with nice upgrades and tons of beds, TVs, and space. We are “flatlander tourists” and this was our first time traveling up the narrow, twisty mountain roads, but everyone around us seemed ok with it. Haha. We were pretty nervous traveling up the first couple of times, but it got easier. Luckily, it was great weather that week, but if there is snow, BEWARE. My Honda van made it up there fine on clear roads, but ice would have been a different story.
Ans this is a three story cabin with pretty steep stairs in several spots, so if you have trouble navigating steep steps, also beware. (Again, maybe this is normal, but I have an injured ankle and it was tough for me!)
We had a couple questions for the owner while we were there and he was very quick to respond! The hot tub was also new and worked very well. Loved the built in cover that even my 10 year old could close with ease.
If you’re looking for a large house with room for 2-3 families and lots of kids, this would be ideal. I also love that it was pet friendly!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful property with us!
The cabin is beautiful, the view is top notch. We really enjoyed our stay there. We saw bear everyday, they came right up on the deck! Overall, I would say don't hesitate to rent this but be aware of a couple things that need attention:
The hot tub, while the instructions to the cabin state that the water is changed on every visit I highly doubt this to be the case. We only got in the hot tub once, it smelled horrible and there was flecks of debris all over the tub. So either they change the water but then don't bother with the filters, or something. But it was not great. And disappointing. It is also very small.
The kitchen, the stove top is broken and cracked in many places, it doesn't seem to impact its use however, but there are some edges that might be a concern to get a cut or something. We also noticed a few cockroaches in the kitchen but didn't see them anywhere else. The owner tried to work with us to get an exterminator out, but with my parents and dogs it would have been a huge inconvenience for us.
The decking and seating for the decking has nails popping up everywhere that poses a safety concern.
There's trash everywhere all over the sides of the hills. I don't know if it is due to the bears getting into trash but could stand to be cleaned up.
The drive up to the property is a long winding one lane road. Certain lower profile vehicles may find it to be a challenge.
Great cabin! Little hard to find in the dark though... would suggest updating the house numbers by the road to a sign that is more visible in the dark! Thankfully the written directions were helpful.

It was nice but some of the pictures are deceiving. Lots of little issues but overall it was nice.
We had 4 adults and 4 kids stay at the cabin. There was plenty of room and the kids had their own space downstairs with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom down there along with a pool table and tv. Everyone enjoyed the stay and we even got to see a bear passing through the yard. Cabin was clean with plenty of amenities.
Beautiful cabin that met our needs! Roads up to the cabin are strap and were iced over so we had to park 2 vehicles at another location because they couldn’t make it up to the cabin. Previous renters left trash on the back porch and ground which makes me wonder why I had to pay over 200 in cleaning fees if they didn’t clean after the last renters. Otherwise a great cabin! We had a great time!
Cabin was clean and in good shape. There was a minor issue with the hot tub that was addressed and resolved right away. Mechanical things break, but they had it resolved right away. Best part was we had a bear in the driveway as we were leaving.
This was my first experience using VRBO. Was a bit nervous, but Frank was great! He made sure to stay in contact, and gave perfect directions to the home along with anything else we may need. The property is stunning! Very clean, very homey, and gorgeous. Definitely will be coming back!
I communicated with Frank about a last minute booking. He was prompt and answered all of my questions.
When I go to the Smokys, the first thing I look for is the view, I'm not here to for "hustle and bustle," I am here to become one with nature.
As soon as I arrived I stepped out on the nice deck and I fell in love with the view. I was actually a little upset that we were only there for one short day as we were passing through.
The cabin was very nice as it had that classic cabin feel. It brought back memories from being with my nana.
Frank treated us very well. He helped us with all the question we had and was very prompt.
Overall my only complaint was that we only stayed one night. Next time I'm going to stay for a few days and actually enjoy coffee with the Mountain View.
I had an amazing time, and I will be back.
Thanks Frank.

Worst experience with VRBO Ever
When we arrived at the property, the kitchen sink was not working. There was someone there trying to fix it, but he couldn't get the part due it being a holiday. So he turned on the cold water and said he would come back the next day. We later discovered that the sink was leaking so we stopped using it entirely so we wouldn't damage the property. The next day at 2 we were still waiting on someone to come and fix the sink. We then discovered that the hot tub wasn't working due to a breaker issue which we were able to fix. But the water was so cold it was not usable all of Friday night. The next morning we discovered that the upstairs shower was leaking. Then the fire alarm started going off. The fire department showed up and said this had been happening for 3 days but nothing had been done to fix it. We felt this was a safety issue and were not comfortable staying the 2nd night of our reservation. We contacted the host. He said he would refund our second night because of all the issues we had. He also said he would provide a partial refund for the first night because it was such a disaster. When the refund was received, I discovered that he had not refunded the 2nd night entirely or provided a partial discount for the first night. When I contacted him, all he could say was "I did my best". I have text communication from him. This is totally unacceptable and the worst experience I have ever had. We have used VRBO for years and always had great experiences. If there was ever an issue with the house, the host bent over backwards to take care of it without us even having to ask. That was not the case here at all. The cabin is beautiful, but I would not recommend renting from this host.
We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. Excellent location and plenty of bedrooms/space for all of the family/friends. Host was responsive and friendly. Wish we would have seen a bear but maybe next time. Will definitely stay here again!
