Some of our favorite hikes are: Mingo Falls Mingo Falls is on the Cherokee Indian Reservation (Qualla Boundary), just outside Great Smoky Mountains National Park. No special permits are required for access to the reservation. At 120 feet tall, the waterfall is one of the tallest and most spectacular in the southern Appalachians. The hike to the waterfall is only 0.4 miles in length, but is considered moderate in difficulty. Access Trail: Pigeon Creek Trail Trailhead: From Oconaluftee Visitor Center, drive south (toward Cherokee) on US-441 and take the second left onto Big Cove Road. At the first stop sign turn left and drive 4.5 miles to Mingo Falls Campground, where the trail begins. Juney Whank Falls Juney Whank Falls is divided into an upper and lower section. Both can be viewed from the footbridge which crosses Juney Whank Branch at the falls. Together they drop 90 feet from top to bottom. The trail to the waterfall is 0.8 miles roundtrip and is considered moderate in difficulty. Grotto Falls Trillium Gap Trail meanders through an old-growth hemlock forest and actually runs behind the 25 foot high waterfall. The cool, moist environment near the falls is ideal for salamanders and summer hikers. The hike is 3 miles roundtrip and considered moderate Trailhead: From the parkway in Gatlinburg, turn at traffic light #8 and follow Historic Nature Trail into Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Take Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail to stop #5 where there is a large parking area. This one is close and absolutely beautiful. I last hiked it with my 60 year old mother and 4 nieces and nephews ranging in age from 3-11 years old. We saw 3 bears at a distant, swam in the reflective pool of the falls, and had a fun-filled day without over doing it.

Loved it! Cute cabin and I hope you like bears! They come to check out the grill like they own the place! We had a wonderful weekend getaway here. The back deck is amazing and I spent a lot of time there
The host was prompt with all replies and a pleasure to work with. The cabin was cozy and had all the necessities. We enjoyed the hot tub and games. We didn't realize the pool table was not actual size, but we had fun none-the-less.
We recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming cabin nestled in the mountains, perfectly situated between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The location was ideal for exploring both towns, making it easy to enjoy all the local attractions. We saw a momma bear and cub right outside the cabin! One of the highlights of our stay was cozying up by the fireplace after a long day of exploring. It created such a warm and inviting atmosphere. Because of the rain that kept us indoors for most of our visit, we loved having a game room! The check-in and check-out process was seamless. Overall, I would definitely stay here again! Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing mountain retreat.
Beautiful cabin. Felt like we were surrounded by views of a winter wonderland. Clean and comfortable. We loved the coffee station. Loved the hot tub , fireplace, and pool table. Host was nice and provided detailed information.
Check in at the cabin went very smooth. The instructions that were sent to us worked out great. The cabin was just as pictured, cozy, relaxing, peaceful and beautiful area. Would love to go back!!!
Cabin was clean, beds were comfortable, and the hot tub was very relaxing. The porches are particularly nice, and the kids loved all the games up in the loft. Beautiful area.
Dorothy has gone above and beyond for me. Any questions I had, she answered in a timely manner. The cabin itself was so relaxing! We came to Gatlinburg for a wrestling tournament and after the tournament, the cabin was perfect for winding down. The boys loved the big tub with jets. The air hockey table and pool table were perfect and kept them busy while me and my husband relaxed downstairs. Would love to come to this cabin again!
The Playful Paws cabin was exactly as described. It was clean and well appointed with lots of natural light and all the amenities one could ask for. It served as a mini retreat as much as it did a family vacation spot. Now that I have a bit more confidence driving in the mountains, I would definitely return to this cabin in the future.
We had such a wonderful time staying in the cabin. Host was great with communication, and check in was easy. Cabin was the perfect size for us and being pet friendly made it even better. We loved the hot tub and my son and husband even saw a bear out the living room windows!! We would definitely book again!!! Thank you for such a wonderful weekend!
Our stay at this property was excellent! It was a convenient location to local attractions. Everything was as advertised in the listing. The amenities with this cabin were fantastic as well. Would definitely recommend staying here to friends and family!
This cabin had everything we needed for our two kids (11 & 6). The played and slept in the game room / loft, while we relaxed downstairs. Cabin surrounded by windows gives the complete mountain woods experience. Pet friendly is a plus too! Several other cabins in sight but still get 5 stars from us.
The cabin was magnificent! The upstairs kept the boys busy and happy. The layout of the cabin is wonderful, it’s gives you the feeling that you would love to have one of your own. The location is almost perfect, close enough to all the attractions and far enough away to get some peace and quiet.
Cozy Cabin. Hot tub was a hit. Close to everything. Two bedroom (one was shared with game room), easy check in process. Plenty of extra blankets. Working fireplaces were a nice bonus.
The cabin was just as listed and probably the most clean place I’ve ever stayed! The games upstairs were a great bonus. The only thing I will say is the GPS does not take you to the cabin. It takes you down the road a bit but super easy to find based on the house number. Overall we loved our stay and would definitely stay here again in the future!
As first-time Vrbo users (and long-time resort and hotel people), we couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to vacation rentals. This cabin was the perfect mix of cozy and spacious, with plenty of games to keep the family entertained and room to relax. The location was a major highlight—secluded enough for that peaceful mountain vibe but still close to everything we wanted to explore. It truly gave us the best of both worlds. We loved every moment and are already looking forward to our next stay!
Overall nice stay! Property was clean and was accurate to listing. Bedroom fan was inoperable and didn’t get much response from host but otherwise everything was very nice !
Nice cabin. All the amenities needed. Kids enjoyed games and hot tub. Cabin is pretty far up in the mountains but a short 20 minute drive to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Lots of traffic on road below back balcony. Three bear encounters while we were there.
This cabin has the most spectacular views from inside and the location is perfect...so many things to do nearby in any direction. We went to the arts and crafts district of Gatlinburg only 10 mins away, where we ate and shopped the most unique finds. The cabin was extremely clean and well cared for. We had a family of 5 and was surprised how roomy the living space is. We enjoy all the extra touches the owner has added to make the cabin sparkle. The place was just so comfortable and the stay was fun and easy. We had a terrific time in the game room and just exploring the neighborhood.

Pretty little cabin
In general the cabin was basically clean, there were quite a bit of cobwebs in the corners ( rustic??😏) and some mouse feces in the master bedroom along with hair in the master bathtub.
The kitchen was clean the hot tub was clean.
I wish there had been more towels.
The cabin was smaller than we thought from the pics, but it was nice. We were comfortable and overall happy with it.
The cabin is centrally located to Pidgeon Forge and Gatlinburg which was very convenient! The cabin is smaller than the pictures show but it was nice and cozy for the 2 of us. The back deck was nice to sit on the porch swing during a rain shower. There is a hot tub there also but we did not use it. We had a wonderful visit despite the cooler weather! I would recommend this cabin.
It was so cute and felt like home the moment my boyfriend and I stepped inside. It looks just like the pictures I saw. I loved the swing on the back porch. I sat there for an hour or so at sunset last night. I love all the windows in the bedroom too because they let in great morning sunshine and it’s beautiful at dusk. It was great that it had games and such in the loft. The stairs for the loft are a bit steep and can be scary going down when you are short like me. It has a beautiful view up there. My boyfriend and I are going to red this cabin each time we go up to the Smokies now.
Perfect little cabin for a stay in the Smokies. Located off the Spur, it was easy to travel around the area. We missed the cabin the first time we arrived as the bushes blocked it from sight. Once we turned around, it was easy to find. It is close to the roads on both sides, so there is some traffic noise, but nothing that disturbed our sleep. We did have an issue with the upstairs shower leaking into the master bedroom. We informed the rental company, but didn't hear back from them. All four of us shared the downstairs bathroom shower after that to avoid damage to the cabin. That was an inconvenience.
